I started to receive a ton of emails, texts and phone calls from several companies offering free inspections and" promises of potential insurance jobs". I didn't take the bait but immediately called Dave to check for damage. Dave thoroughly inspected the roof and gave it a clean bill of health. This roof was installed 14 years ago and it still looks great. Given the circumstances, I believe this is proof that quality materials and a commitment to craftsmanship make a huge difference . I…read moreoriginally wanted composite but Larry convinced me that he preferred a Cedar treated wood that he assured me was better quality than the composite. He indicated to me that he has installed a lot of decks and convinced me that he would be a great company to hire. He also was able to start immediately. The day he started he showed up late and took a long lunch. The next day, he showed up and 1/2 later indicated he was going to breakfast. He came back 1 hour later and worked for an hour, then indicated he was going to lunch. He worked a total of an hour and by 1 pm, I texted him to ask if he was coming back? He finally showed back up at 2pm. Then left by 4. He completed the boards and asked me what I thought. He was going to leave a 6 in gap from the end of the deck to my fence. I told him that was not acceptable because someone could fall through that gap and get hurt. So I asked him to put in a railing. He then added he had to charge me extra for that and I said fine because I could not leave that gap open. The railing is 13 feet long. He put two 4x4 posts on the ends, but nothing in the middle to support the 13 feet. I didn't know what was compliment because I'm not a person who builds decks. We had a friend come over and let us know that was not compliant, so I called Larry to ask him to come and add the post to make the deck compliant. He proceeded to tell me that he didn't want to sound mean, but the whole deck was not compliant? I paid him to put in a deck and he was the professional so I wondered why he said that? I had additional wood and a full post left over that he did not use that I paid for in my yard, so I asked him to come back and install the post that should have been put in in the first place. He told me I had to wait two weeks until he was available. I said ok. On that day he was supposed to come, I texted and asked what time he would be coming. He gave me a bunch of run around and never showed up. This company is not reliable. They lie and do shady work that is not compliment and will not pass an inspection. I would not recommend this company to anyone. He also spoke to me as if he was doing me a favor. He kept coming up with reasons why I owed more money and even said I owed $100 extra for coming to put in the post he should have put in when he was here. I also asked him to replace two of the boards that have a glue like substance on top that is very sticky and cannot be removed, he told me to go tell Menards to replace them and see what they say? He hand picked the wood himself and I have no receipt from the store. Plus the boards are already installed?? The pictures show the railing with no support in the middle and the large gap he was going to leave open if I didn't pay extra for the railing that I had to tell him to put in so no one would get hurt falling in that hole. I found Larry to be rude and arrogant and very unprofessional. Hire him at your own risk.

When mold showed through the ceiling of the room below the shower and the mold remediation contractor cut through the ceiling it was clear we needed to consider replacing the shower and much of the subfloor. Serious perusing of reviews on yelp led me to JRW. Just one phone call made me hopeful. First they re- grouted the shower pan/wall connection so it could be used until they had an opening in their schedule a few weeks away to replace the shower. Finally the big day came. Joel (the owner) sent me photos (it was a tenant occupied home) everyday and explained every step of the way what needed to be done and how much it would cost. He respected my decisions. He also picked out materials subject to my approval - and I always said yes because his choices were excellent as well as in budget. I had been concerned of the impact of a big project with workers in and out every day for a week or so on the tenants. I needn't have worried, the day after it was complete the tenant emailed me unsolicited and said that the workers did a great job: excellent workmanship, seemed trustworthy, respectful of the tenants and house, cleaned up everything and though they hope no more issues arise, they said if workers are ever needed there again they would hope it's the crew from JRW. Two small issues arose unrelated to this project (sticky door and gutter issue) and Joel took care of them for a minor charge. Most mom and pop landlords will tell you- the dreaded call from a tenant that something is broken causes you a few minutes of angst trying to figure out who to call to get it fixed. Now that I know about JRW, I won't feel that worry anymore.

There are dark blotchy looking stains and light/white spots that have become a permanent part of the final appearance. (See attached pictures) 2) Accountability of workmanship: After showing Dave pictures of discoloration, I not only didn't receive an explanation for what caused the discoloration, but I also didn't get acknowledgement that it shouldn't look that way. The only real response I received was that "We don't guarantee color". Does DEL Concrete not have pride in their work? 3) Customer Service: Regardless of the quality of workmanship, there appeared to be no desire by Dave to fix or rectify my dissatisfaction. Not only was my concern dismissed, but there was no offer of a solution. I tried to seek amicable resolution, but it didn't go anywhere. All communication (which was relegated to text message as my phone calls were not returned) was defensive and confrontational. In fact, I was even accused of being "trouble" and "too picky". As a customer who has a rightful complaint, who would want to be treated that way? When I hire contractors, I don't expect perfection. I recognize that this type of work heavily relies on people and can therefore be a little variable. It's great when things go well, but mistakes can happen. Sometimes you can get less than desirable outcomes. It is during those bad moments where I believe a company's true integrity shines through - you separate the companies who really care about their customers and those who only care about themselves. In this case, I experienced a disappointing amount of integrity from Dave Loftus and DEL Concrete. Look where we are at now: I will most likely have to pay another contractor to replace the brand-new concrete that was just poured by DEL Concrete and am so frustrated that I felt compelled to write this review. You would think any reasonable business would want to try and avoid this situation from ever getting to this point.

It was a bit of a tricky job due to the trim being arched, which meant it had to be traced and cut appropriately. I had the pleasure of contacting David, whom I asked several questions of how he would go about the process and I felt very comfortable with everything he walked through. He scheduled the work for a couple weeks out, text notifications let me know when he would be arriving and he was able to complete everything within a few hours. David cut the replacement beautifully using PVC so there is no maintenance on it in the future and caulked / sealed up all points of exposure to rain.
