I had my first appointment with Dr. Sarah Dawson at St. Charles Family Care yesterday. Normally I…read morewould wait to review something like this after a few visits but I was so pleased yesterday that I feel pretty confident leaving one now. I arrived early so I'd have time to fill out new patient forms but everything moved fairly quickly and it didn't take long at all for me to see her. Not to make this too personal (but that's kind of what I do lol) but I've been waiting over a month to talk to someone new about anxiety and to get more information about more MILD anxiety meds. My last doctor was so pushy about things I did not want to take and so naturally it was a fear of mine it would happen again here, but Dr. Dawson actually fully answered the questions I still had about the meds I've been researching and interested in and ultimately we both agreed they'd be a good option for me to try. After meeting with her I also talked with a psychologist they have. I didn't make an appointment prior to meet with him but he was available and they asked if I'd like to so I figured why not. It's more laid back than a full on commitment to go to therapy which made made it more comfortable for me. Basically he just helped me gain a better understanding of anxiety and panic disorders and went over tips to deal with it, things like that. Obviously this is not specifically a mental health clinic but I think it's good to point out this place is ALSO really helpful when it comes to it, and overall it's just a very well rounded place with lots to offer. I left relieved and listened to and I am actually excited to continue my care here and I'd absolutely recommend coming here!!

High Lakes Health Care - Shevlin Park Sparks Lake Building

Less than zero ... High Lakes Health…read more I have had a wonderful provider at High Lakes at the Shevlin building. He is my prescriber as I am a breast cancer survivor and have secondary conditions related to that. Lucky to be alive, trying to live my best life. That said, my doc went on vacation and without any warning, and upon refilling a particularly expensive medication that was not hastily prescribed, a substitute physician has denied it. My doc won't be back for a month. He's from Bend, young, very smart and has a family. My family and I have been very happy with his care. So disappointed to see High Lakes put a person whose in charge who would flat out deny a needful, long time medication. Btw NOT an opiate. My gastroenterologist who originally prescribed this medication has also left his practice and is set to join St Charles ... later in August. My referral was given a month ago, to smooth this transition because my stomach doc is the best in Bend. SCMC receptionist tried to find it, but said they are BURIED w a huge backlog of patients. Former and new patients. Not surprised, as he is an expert and he actually cares whether a patient can leave home w a condition like mine. So grateful he is staying in town. There seems to be an exodus of docs leaving the area. This is not continuity of care. It shouldn't take a behavioral health appointment to get my medicine or try and understand this idiocy.

The Drs are out of touch and are siting there not understanding why you did not or dont schedule appointments many times referencing their wide-open schedule, or why you're late when you're literally sitting outside their door trying to get in. This was my first trip to a naturopath and it was such a great experience. I hadn't realized that this type of doctor is trained as a physician plus more. The focus on full bodied health based on food, sleep, exercise was definitely refreshing. I appreciated the long thorough conversation and feel like I am starting a relationship with a doctor rather than treated for symptoms, prescribed pills and pushed out the door.

I like the fact that our whole family can go to one clinic for basic health stuff. I had tried a few other mainstream Clinics and most left me feeling like just another patient. One of the first times I went, My young son at the time had a huge ear infection and some congestion, She gave me a homeopathic remedy and something like a blend of essential oils to help the congestion. He was pain free the next day. They are very big on nutrition and supporting the body to enable itself to heal. Instead of throwing drugs at symptoms. I got to know Dr. Grisez (and when she wasn't available, Dr. Skarperud.) I love the fact that they really know who you are and they spend time with a patient getting down to the reasons why we are 'sick'. My other son has an enlarged kidney from birth, nothing major so far just tests to ensure it is working properly, in addition to seeing the kidney specialist, it was nice to have Dr. Grisez to visit with regarding the tests that included dangerous chemicals, Supporting his body with 'good stuff'
