Was in the area and had to figure out what to have for lunch. Decided that sandwiches was the way to go. You must have a mask on when you go inside and they have hand sanitizer at the door. I was put off because they didn't close off booths or tables so people can technically sit anywhere they wanted. Some groups didn't spread out well and were sitting next to or behind each other. I got their veggie sandwich with a side of their potato salad. Sandwich was good and filling (thanks to the avocado in it) but I wasn't a fan of the potato salad. So I went in and found out that my order hadn't even been started, was told I would get refund "in a few days" Now it's 4 weeks later and after 2 calls still haven't received a refund. I like the food here. I usually like the people working here as well. But the management frequently frustrates me. Today, for example, was one of those times. My friend and I checked when they open (10:30 am) and showed up a few minutes after that. The doors were locked and they had a sign posted. It says that they had computer issues and sorry that I couldn't open on time. Computer problems can happen to anybody at any time so that's not an issue. I wanted to know how long they thought it would be because I didn't know whether to stay and wait or go somewhere else. Employees could see us at the door, but made no effort to communicate with us and apparently they don't answer the phone either. I can't fathom why they wouldn't want to communicate, if only to say, we don't know how long it will be. read more

I love McAlister's. And I keep trying to love the store in Valparaiso but they are consistently disappointing. First we find the toothpicks used to hold sandwiches together buried horizontally inside of our sandwiches, then we get cold food, and now today they're not taking orders because they're busy. I've never seen an establishment work so actively hard to fail. The management of this location really needs to get their act together or they're not going to have an establishment to manage much longer. read more

I ordered our lunch online. Was given a time to arrive. I was actually early. Directions were to pull into one of the curbside spots and they would do the rest. After waiting 5 minutes past the appointed time, I placed a phone call. I was asked if I had ordered drinks. Ummm...no. Then the employee said she would bring it right out. I just finished eating here today for the first time. The cashier was really friendly and helped me with different menu items. The food came out pretty quick also. I had the french dip sandwich with a side of fruit. The roast beef was juicy and really full of flavor. The side of fruit was really lame. It consisted of 2 pineapple chunks and the rest was cheap melon. For the price of the sandwiches you can mix in something other then hard melon. The dining room is really comfortable and it's super clean. So outside of the cheap fruit bowl everything was really good. read more

Well, I have my app scanned every time to accumulate the reward points. I noticed the points were added to the card. Went back, with receipt in hand, and was told "sorry, can't help ya". I then proceeded to place my order and scanned the app. I asked the cashier if he was positive it worked cuz I hadn't received my points for the last two visits. He said "yes, it worked". I still didn't get the points. I contacted customer service which was very useless. I'm very disappointed to say the least. This place used to be great. Now there is usually only one cashier. I wish I could go lower with one star. The manager on the shift went out of his way to stare at my wife when we were ordering making her uncomfortable so she hid behind me and he moved to look at her again. When we got out food the order was messed up and I found old lettuce and meat in my drink. And then that same manager walked up and down the isle looking at my wife objectifying her once again and turned around and looked again. I will never be coming here again. This place has consistently disappointed us. They state they are overwhelmed when they have 5 orders online, and it can take up to an additional hour to get your food beyond the original timeframe they give you for a simple salad and to pour a pre-made drink. It's not a new thing. I've tried coming back a few times in the last year and a half because I liked the food, but this has literally been every time. No one has ever even said as much as "I'm sorry for the delay" either. I won't bring my business their way anymore, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Three of us went to McAlister's for lunch today. The food was horrible. Got 2 horseradish, beef, cheddar sandwiches and the broccoli/chicken. The meat on the sandwiches was overcooked, dry like shoe leather, and tons of gristle. plus, there wasn't hardly any meat on it (thank goodness). Absolutely sub-par for this chain. Woo-boy... this was a painful outing... I just finished a meal in which the entire time I kept chanting in my head "this food is just so terrible". I got an avocado chicken salad, broccoli cheese soup, and a side of mac and cheese. I couldn't even finish the salad... the avocado was so hard I knocked it against the side of the bowl and it actually made noise. The soup was lukewarm and tasted canned... and that is me being generous. The mac and cheese reminded me of the kind you get from the cafeteria at the hospital. The restaurant was clean. The workers were friendly. We went for lunch. My husband got the club sandwich It was a small/average sized sandwich, but it was cut into quarters and spread out on a platter in a manner that made it appear larger than it was. He said that the sandwich was tasty. No complaints about flavor. The potato salad that accompanied it was decent. I just got chocolate cake. It was average. The soda was carbonated fine. IMO, the prices were quite high for what we got. Under most circumstances, because of that, I would likely select other restaurants if I wanted to eat lunch out.
