TLDR: $20 to wait around for nothing. Appeared clean and staff tried to the best of their ability to be helpful. They got my order wrong, no big deal. I'll wait a little longer. it's a special needs person, so I'm ok being patient. The manager or supervisor comes out and makes the correction and gets a verbal confirmation. But, after waiting a while I'm asked to present my credit card so I can be charged the difference. My patience is done, I politely requested a refund. The supervisor walks off without saying a word. Other people come to the register and I state the issue multiple times. Finally, I gave up on my refund or food and went to the Greek place next door. read more

This is a decent place to go if you're in the mood for a soup, sandwich, or stuffed potato. The menu is somewhat small, with the basic soups and club sandwiches . I ordered a "spud" and was happy to have something that wasn't greasy and fried. My only concern was that the spud did not have a lot of meat. After a long day at work, I was so exhausted that I did not have the energy to heat in the microwave leftovers and to wash dishes. I decided to just take out something, but I was too lazy to drive far. Luckily, McAlister is very near at my place, and it has been quite a while since I have eaten to one. I have never been to this branch, but I frequented the one in Little Rock during my younger years. So, with my nostalgia and laziness, I went and visited the McAlisters in Bentonville. I arrived at around 5:30. Not a lot of people eating there. I know pretty much what I am going to order since I looked up their menu online. I really wish all restaurants do this since it is very helpful and convenient unless a place is not confident about their food. Anyway, I usually get the Reuben before, but I decided to venture out and get the roast beef instead. For about $9, I got my horseradish roast beef sandwich and a mash potato and gravy as a side. I was so excited to drive back home, reminiscing the pleasure of eating a wonderful McAlister Reuben sandwich when I was younger. I got home, placed the Styrofoam container on the counter, and quickly took a picture. But, when I opened it, I was disappointed. Why in the world I paid $9 for this sandwich? I do not remember McAlister sandwich for being this small. It was a sad looking sandwich. First of all, the mash potato was okay. I am pretty sure though that their gravy is made from beef bouillon. It has that distinct taste. I would know because I use beef bouillon all the time. As for the sandwich, it made me feel so sad. For $9, I expected more. Unfortunately, I got less. The meat was nonexistent. I could barely taste the horseradish. They tried to make it pretty with the grill marks, but it was just there for the flair. Usually, grill marks means that it has some additionally flavor in it. For this one, I think drawing a grill marks with a marker would actually make it more flavorful. I was really deeply disappointed. If you have $9 to burn for a mediocre sandwich, try this place out. Otherwise, go somewhere else to have a better sandwich for your money. read more

Would've been 5 but didn't receive chips and had green onions on spud max even though I asked for no green onions. I would think they write everything down for the order so the people who make the food see everything, and maybe that's what they do, but it sure doesn't seem that way. I unfortunately do not have any pics, but I ordered online and scheduled pickup. As soon as I pulled in on two different dates a associate delivered my food within minutes. Soups are wrapped a extra layer of plastic wrap helping no spills in transport and keeping warm. Foods such as nachos have the ingredients separated so they do not become soggy and of course their awesome Tea! I had not eaten here in a couple years largely out of convenience because I moved, but given my last few Grub Hub deliveries I will definitely be making McAlisters a frequent again. read more

Well, I hate to see a good restaurant in decline. I have not been impressed with McAlisters on the past several visits - dirty, lax service and meh food. I didn't bother to eat anything this trip. We walked in looking for dessert - chocolate cake in particular. Counter was empty - no employee. We could see several kitchen employees through the kitchen window - none acknowledged us. A girl was sweeping the floor in the dining area and after a minute or so approached (still sweeping) and said 'let me know when you're ready'. We asked 'do you have chocolate cake? It's not on the menu.' She replied, 'whatever we have left in the back.' No a very appetizing response in a restaurant. We asked what that response meant and she said she could go look for cake in the back ????? She returned with a sad, dried piece of cake on a plate covered in plastic wrap. How old was it and where 'in the back' was it hanging out? We opted to depart cake-less. Likely won't return again. read more

So so delicious. This was my first visit but I'll definitely go back. My husband and I both absolutely loved our food. I had the BLT+A and he had the crunchy jalapeño. I've tried some of their food before, but only from a pickup order rather than a dine-in until recently. The staff are friendly and the food comes out fairly quickly for the high quality that you get. I had the "Big Nasty" ( 1/2 pound of Black Angus roast beef, gravy and cheddar-jack on an open face baguette) along with the desert pear lemonade and my SO had the King Club and tea. While the food wasn't very heavy at all, it was extremely filling and such a nice change of pace, and I even had a few crispy grilled edges of the roast beef which made it even better. I highly recommend it along with their desert pear lemonade, and treat yourself to a fresh cookie by the register as well. Came here this past weekend for lunch with my family. PARKING/WAIT: It is located in a good sized parking lot and we didn't have a problem finding close parking during lunch time on a Saturday. You order your food at the counter and then find a seat. They bring you your order to your table. CUSTOMER SERVICE: It was good. Friendly and efficient. FOOD: The food was fine. Maybe in between fine and good. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. I have been very spoiled to have grown up in a town with amazing (non chain) sandwich cafes in California. It's sad how far this chain has fallen. I used to think it was nearly at par with Jason's, Atlanta Bread and Panera, but those days are gone. This isn't my first choice for dinner. Meanwhile, at 8:30 pm and needing to get back and do more work I figured this was a quick, safe bet. Unfortunately, the food didn't match up to the friendly service. A few years back (when I visited this chain for lunches across the country) their bread was fresh, warm, crisp and inviting. The meat was a solid average, too. Meanwhile, tonight's half sandwich was pitiful. The size of the half collapsed. The bread tasted like something you'd buy on the grocery store's three day old clearance and the turkey was worse than packaged stuff you'd find on aisle 3. I took a few bites and left, instead choosing to drive to Chick-fil-A and salvage the evening. The half Savannah Salad was poor, too. The cucumbers were mushy. Half of the lettuce was starting to brown up and nothing tasted fresh. Everything on my plate resembled something from a food distributor: nothing tasty, nothing fresh, nothing made on site. Once a great place for lunch, but that was before the last 200 restaurants opened. I think there are now much better options. I ordered a chef's salad, which should be safe. First dilemma, "we no longer have blue cheese dressing". What?? I'm here with others, so I can't just walk out. Salad came out fast, but probably helped by lack of stuff. A few croutons, some cheese and I'm almost positive there were at least 2 pieces of bacon. Don't remember any eggs anywhere, minimal tomatoes, and again, no blue cheese. read more

This is a fast food type place where you order at the counter, then food is delivered to your table. We did take out so I can't comment on the done in service, but the food we got for take out was pretty quick! The food itself is just okay, not anything spectacular but not awful either. I got half of a sandwich which was a lot of bread and half of a spud... which was more like a regular size full potato. So the portion was definitely not lacking, but the flavors were missing. The potato was really overcooked and dry so luckily I had some sour cream at home to add to it. I had the opportunity to sit down and visit with Matt Sutton who works in sales and marketing for McAlister's. As well as met and talked with the owner Mike Means. Matt had invited me over to check out their location in Bentonville. Normally I like to do my reviews anonymously, so this was a bit different. But I want to assure our readers that this review is unbiased, and that the score that was given was earned. I have been to their other location in Fayetteville several times before this visit. And my experiences there mirrored my experience on this visit to their Bentonville location. I spent probably an hour and a half talking to Matt, and it was a great conversation. I got to learn quite a bit about them, as well as trying their food. For those of you that are looking for something that is between a fast food establishment and a fine dining establishment, here is your answer. You get the speed of service that you are used to in a fast food place, but with a quality of food and attention to detail that you would find in a much higher end dining establishment. When you walk in, the inside of the building is nice and neat. There are LOTS of decorations through out the establishment, I could have easily spent a couple of hours just checking out all the neat details there. The staff is very courteous, and while I was there I paid attention to how they were serving other customers. They stayed on top of keeping their customers happy and their drinks filled. On top of that, Mike's floor staff were keeping things nice and tidy. Each time I looked around there was someone cleaning a table, or sweeping up any sort of leftovers that were on the floor. I could tell they took pride in their facility, which was nice to see. A big difference from some places I have gone to, where they just don't seem to care. I tried their "Choose any two" which is a $5.99 meal, and I will tell you right now there is a huge difference in what you get here for $5.99 versus going to a fast food establishment. A night and day difference. I picked their "McAlister's Club" and "Spud Max". Their club sandwich comes with the following; Smoked turkey, hickory ham, apple wood smoked bacon, cheddar, swiss, lettuce and tomatoes. It also has their own McAlister's Honey Mustard, with some lite mayo. Everything on this sandwich was good and fresh, except one component. The tomato was just not real fresh, so that was the only detractor from this sandwich. The lettuce was crisp, the cheese fresh and the meats were superb. The spud comes with the following; Ham, turkey, bacon, cheddar-jack cheese, green onions and black olives with sour cream on the side. And not only was it delicious, it was HUGE. You definitely get your monies worth with this spud. Watching and listening to the customers around me while I was there, I could tell they were all enjoying themselves. And getting the chance to talk to Matt was great, because he really has a passion for his product. In talking to him I could tell that he prides himself in being part of an establishment that goes above and beyond to make their customers have a great dining experience. When you see that kind of passion in the eyes of dining establishments' employees, you know that the service and quality of food is going to be great. So for those of you in the area that are looking for a quick lunch at a reasonable price, that also just happens to taste great, look no further. I love McAlister's Deli! I was in Bentonville for a week for work. I went to lunch with somebody and she gave me some choices and McAlister's was one of them. I kept driving past it and noticed it was busy so I said let's try it. They have soups, salads, pizza, different sandwiches, and great sides. I first tried the Greek Chicken Pita and had a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. It was delicious! It was grilled chicken so I was able to get the healthy side out of it. You order your food, sit down with a number and they'll deliver it to you. It's the best of fast food with a sit down environment. It was so good I came the next day for lunch and dinner. For lunch I tried their Havarati Chicken Sandwich and got chips on the side with their sweet tea. I'm not a huge sweet tea fan, but I decided to try it. It's sweet tea, but I know many people love it. For dinner I tried their grilled chicken club with cole slaw. Really, you can't go wrong with anything at this place. Just be careful, it gets super busy during lunch. On my to-go order they did not put in napkins with my order. I'm not sure if it's an Arkansas thing or not, but it happened at different locations where I was not given napkins. I definitely would come back here again and again! read more

Had an excellent Jalapeño crunch sandwich today!! Fresh sliced turkey on a jalapeño bread that was beyond run of the mill loaf bread--avocados, mayo, cheese and wait for it---------kettle cooked Jalapeño chips. I know, it's a chain, but it's a pretty stinking good chain. Get a sammich, soup or a spud as big as your forearm... Whatever makes you happy it's served up hot and fast. Order at the counter and grab your drink while you're there. My only complaint is that during lunch rush there's no one taking care of drink refills.
