I locked my rental car key in the trunk of my car (yep - actually happened).... Called the rental car agency who contacted between 15 and 18 locksmiths and on 1 could assist - the next morning and was well over an hour away. This wouldn't work cause my suitcase, computer, etc. were in the trunk. Called AAA and they were able to contact a towing company that someone local knew about. They sent someone out and he tried his best and even requested reinforcements - but to no avail. The gal whose office I was sharing called her husband and he contacted MC Lock & Key. This business usually doesn't work "lock-outs" but made an exception because the gal's husband was a "really great guy" he knew from a contracting job. Dan was able to work nothing short of a miracle and was able to get the key from the trunk. Oh, did I happen to mention that the rental car was a Hyundai and they have a "safety" feature that puts the car in safe mode in case something like this happens. Basically, the car is totally disabled and the only way to release the trunk is in the trunk or if you completely remove the backseat because it is solid. I'm not certain what Dan did to get my key - but if he would do this for the co-worker of the wife of a "great guy", I could only imagine what he'd do for someone he actually knew!!!! read more
