Sean at Kiel-fit Oban stayed open until we were able to get the tyre to him. He helped us immediately, was friendly and charged us a very reasonable price. A local told us it was much less expensive than he expected. Go there and see Sean for great service!

I got recovered and taken here last week, after splitting my tyre on a pot hole! They completely turned a bit of a c**p situation into a such a positive experience! I had been travelling around Scotland for the past week in a campervan that was new to me, which had 20" alloys, therefore I was so very lucky that Brian had decided to get some tyres in to fit these the week before, as they are not standard and not usually in stock! Brian was in on his day off and spent a lot of time explaining and helping me understand about wheels and tyres and gave me so much knowledge for my future travels! Mark showed me that I had also damaged my wheel, which highlighted to me how honest and conscientious they are! They did their absolute best to help with this and then swapped my damaged wheel and tyre to the back for my journey home, explaining that the front takes the majority of any impact and therefore this would be much safer! ... I would never have thought of this and surely they have gone way up and beyond any 'normal' customer service! The other guy (whose name I unfortunately did not get), gave me a full visual inspection report on my tyres (something which I had asked at a previous kwik fit, and was told 'oh there ok'!), he was brilliant! He also asked me if I had heard a knocking noise?, to which I replied 'yes', he then told me what this was and advised me to take it to my mechanic as soon as I return! They did not charge me for anything apart from the tyre and the fitting! I seriously, cannot thank these guys enough and cannot rate them high enough! I am pleased to say, thanks to them, I returned home to Cornwall safely. I have returned feedback to their Operations Manager and I hope they are commended on their service :) A BIG THANK YOU GUYS!!!!

Shoddy service from rude and lazy staff is what you can expect from this poorly managed business…read more I had the misfortune to need both oil and a new tyre recently and made the mistake of going to Cowal Car Components. After standing at the till for fifteen minutes while a member of staff chatted on the phone to his girlfriend (an assumption on my part based on the graphic nature of the conversation) I was finally treated to a grunt and a sideways glance - apparently the way this particular staff member was trained to greet customers. Not the best of starts. I told the individual in question that I needed oil for my car. He pointed to the shelves. I told him I wasn't entirely certain what oil I needed. He instructed me to check my car's manual or look it up online. Strike one. After retreating to my car and using my phone to identify the exact oil I needed, I returned to the shop and searched the shelf. No luck. I returned to the till, but found my new friend on the phone again - this time, I think, to a customer. When he hung up the phone he made a point of looking right at me, then turned his back, ignoring me twice when I asked for assistance. When finally another member of staff appeared I told him what oil I needed. He told me they didn't have any in stock, then walked away. Strike two. I thought that I could at least get the tyre replaced, so I tried to engage with the first staff member again. When I finally got his attention I asked him if I could get a new tyre. He asked for the specifications. I told him. He informed me that the price would be "sixty quid", but they wouldn't have time to fit it today. Why? Because at 3pm they already had two customers ahead of me and couldn't possibly get around to my car before they closed at 5.30pm. A strange claim as there were no cars in the garage outside or any vehicle other than my own parked in their lot. He did, however, suggest that I return the next morning before 9am and leave my car with them, adding that they would "hopefully get around to it" by the end of the day. Now, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that the staff were busy with work, perhaps preparing parts for customers who would be coming to collect them before close of business. The reason for their third strike is simple - when I turned to leave a third staff member appeared and asked if I needed help. I replied that I did, but it appeared they were unable to provide that help, so I'd come back another time. The grunting individual behind the counter then proceeded to invite me to leave and not return, and when I say "invite" I do mean that he used a slew of profanity that would have made even the most hardened of sailors blush. When I got home I decided to check out their website to see if I could identify a manager or owner I could report this behaviour to. I couldn't. What I did find, however, was a compatible oil for my car, which I remembered seeing on their shelf, and the price of a tyre fully fitted, £49, not the £60 the staff member claimed. Indeed, for the three standards of the specific tyres I needed the prices are £49, £69 and £89. So, the staff can't be bothered to help, can't be bothered to speak to customers and can't be bothered to earn money for their employer. I can't be bothered to return and would strongly recommend avoiding this place.

I have always found them very helpful and anything not in stock they can get next day (on one instance, that afternoon). You cannot expect a huge range of spares in a small premises but I am amazed at what they do carry. The tyre fitting is efficient and genuinely friendly. You are expected to book, but emergency situations are nearly always fitted in. Prices are competitive allowing for the required transport across the Clyde and a great time saver if you are short of time. Counter service is knowledgeable and courteous, with a dash of humour sometimes. Keep it going lads!

I first found it when I worked in East…read moreKilbride and occasionally detoured through Carmunnock if the bypass from Glasgow was closed for any reason. It was a real find - a small, local garage which believes in good customer service and won't rip you off. The guys who work here are always really friendly - if you just stop for petrol they even come out and fill up your car for you and they're always up for a chat and a laugh. But where I find them invaluable is all the little problems I've had with my cars over the years (I've had very bad luck when it comes to car tyres!) and the fact that they've always been honest, reliable and incredibly good value for money. One time I had a flat tyre, it was just the tyre valve and they charged me £5 to fix it. Another time, I had a nail in my tyre, it cost £10 to fix it. Another time I hit a pothole and buckled my wheel - rather than sting me for a new wheel, they recommended a local reconditioning place that would knock it back into shape for £20, which saved me a fortune. Even when I did need a new tyre, they have really reasonable prices and a new tyre from here cost me £40 (this was about 5 years ago now) when National Tyres wanted to charge me £70. I have no doubt at all that this place will not rip you off or charge you for work that doesn't need done and I can't recommend them highly enough - I will now drive from Shawlands past at least half a dozen other garages to take my car here.
