New wood floors were covered during the work, when the work was done, floors were ruined because of the slow leak that we didn't detect. Garbage disposal wasn't hooked up, when the faucet was turned on, water went all over the floor basement remodel- contractor only visited the job at the very end of the project, he looked around and said "it came out better than I planned, I'll have to charge you more" Those past experiences made us wary of doing any more improvements on our house, but I wanted a larger kitchen, so I went on the recommendation of a co-worker to give Suburban a call. They had just finished her kitchen and it was beautiful. Our kitchen was done in 2013. It came out great. In 2023 it was time to update our 35 year old bathrooms-2 full and one 1/2 bath. I ended up calling Suburban to do the work. They are true craftsmen and professionals. They make recommendations even though it will mean more work for them like adding a light in the shower or updating our can lights in the kitchen because there a better lights available now than 10 years ago. There are several other things that I appreciate about them. They communicate constantly about what needs to be done. They are easy to reach. They are trustworthy and show up every day and work a full day. You will know when they will be there and what time they will leave. They do the work, they don't sub it out to someone else. I also felt comfortable with them in the house, they seem to genuinely like working together which added to the positive atmosphere. It can be very stressful to see your house in a demo state but they gave you confidence knowing that it would look great when done. They will also tell you how long the job will take. In both kitchen and bathroom re-model jobs they were completed on the day they said they would finish. That is so important. When your house is a disaster with all the demolition it's nice to know it will be done in 3 weeks (kitchen) and 12 days (bathrooms). I couldn't be happier with them and their work. I highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of having work done in their home.

Just…read morehad a complete Kitchen tear out and remodel and a 1st-floor bathroom upgrade: -Everything they do is never assumed and as pre-planned. I planned out and designed my entire kitchen remodel and they did it 100% to my specs. I have no idea how they can give you a timeline to completion but they did even with a few "OOPS" along the way concerning pre-existing structural errors they had to correct 1st, prior to proceeding. -100% professional and I trusted all the workers to be in my home for a few weeks. I was lucky and am retired so I was home during the complete install. A very tough position to be in if you're a contractor because you are very likely to have interactions with these guys during the day and what a pleasant experience I had with all of them. This is the 1st. day without any of these guys and I feel a little lost not having them in my home 5 days a week for weeks. -These guys respect your home and your wishes 100%. Always spent a minimum of 30-45 minutes every day to clean up any messes that were created by the daily construction. -Always had at least 2 guys a day here working from the minute they arrive and NOT stopping until end of day. Never seen such integrity in a hired contractor before and work ethics second to none! -I had over 5 estimates and Joe was the first one to respond timely and none of the other 4 contractors measured up to Joe. My gut said "Pick Joe" and I'm 100% satisfied not only with their work but their ability to accommodate my needs and wishes were always addressed. Each of their specialized workers was extremely personable and I had to often catch myself, as I was distracting them with chat, from performing their job. -I not only have a new "Go-To" contractor but have made some new friendships along the way. What a wonderful and positive experience I had. Let me save you the aggravation of seeking a great contractor. Truly one call and you're all done. Owner Dave Alvord advised us how to streamline the project to fit our budget, oversaw each step of the build, and communicated with us appropriately and often. He was always open to listening to questions and concerns. His crew was first-rate: prompt, professional, and skilled. The work was completed on budget, on-time, and is absolutely beautiful! We met with Alvord Builders in January 2018, made deposits in February, and signed a contract in…read moreMay to have them build a home for us. The purchase price on the contract was only good for thirty days which we didn't think would be an issue until Alvord Builders presented us with a contract addendum for an increase in lumber cost, and they tried to give themselves the right to modify the purchase price on all other materials. We were fine with the fixed increase in lumber, but not with giving them the right to modify the purchase price. We told Alvord Builders we would not be signing the addendum, or having them build for us. Alvord Builders maintains no wrong doing, claims we don't understand the contract language, and that we were suppose to just trust them. In trying to recover at least a portion of our deposit we were told that they would not return any of the deposits from the construction contract or the lot, and that if we wrote any reviews about them that they would sue us. This confirms for us that we made the right decision. We are out close to $8,000 in deposits and bank fees because we wouldn't give Alvord Builders the right to change the purchase price at will. We are walking away not even owning the house plans we paid to have drawn under threat of being sued if we share our story so that others can avoid the same.
