Everything is at your fingertips from malls to restaurants and everything else in between. I have this ongoing joke that there's nothing I don't need that I can't find within 3 miles of my house. The city has great festivals and events all the time. I really like the Veteran's Day ceremony, 4th of July and Easter egg hunt. The staff are always professional and friendly. Both of my children grew up in the schools here. They started in the City of Pembroke Pines pre-school then went through elementary, middle and high school here. I like the public schools better than Charter. Everyone has their opinion. For me it creates a better bond with children that live in our neighborhood. If you are new to the area then you must try the Mayor's Cafe on Taft Street. It is owned by the Mayor of the city and the food is fabulous! If you are looking for a great place to live, this is it!

Hello, I am a parent who enrolled my special needs autistic daughter at New Renaissance Middle…read moreSchool when my daughter was transitioning from 5th grade in Elementary School to 6th grade in Middle School because this was her home school based on our zip code, I honestly did not want to put her in the school because I had read other bad reviews but after applying for a re-assignments 3 times and getting denied, I had no choice but to enroll her at this school. I made sure I provided medical documentations to the school to inform them of the multiple health challenges my daughter has besides autism spectrum disorder, she was placed in an Exceptional Student Education class, on last month on February 24th the teacher called me to inform me that my daughter was having an autism crisis, they never told me that they were going to physically restrain her until I arrived to the school and my daughter was already put on hand cuffs, then the ESE specialist handed me a notice of physical restraint for me to sigh as if they informed me before they put her in hand cuffs, my daughter had an Registered Behavioral Tech who attended school with her daily but on that day in particular her teacher decided to separate her from her Registered Behavioral Tech while he had our daughter take a test when I had already spoke to the ESE specialist in the beginning of the school year and ask for my daughter not to be separated from her behavioral tech since she was there to help address behavior because they tried to give her speech and language therapy without her Registered Behavioral Tech going with her. As a result, my daughter was Baker Acted and transported in a police car in hand cuffs as if she was a criminal, when there was no need for that because once my husband and I arrived at the school our daughter was calmed and on her cuffs, my husband was able to walk her out of the school and put her in our vehicle with no problems, that's when the Police officer who works at the school said she needed to get evaluated and off course my husband and I did not refuse thinking our child was going to get evaluated and sent home after evaluation the same day because she (the officer never said it was a baker act initially and what that meant) but when we got to the hospital the social worker explained and said our 12 year old daughter who had never being left with no one else other than her immediate family had to stay for a 72 hours hold in a psychiatric unit and we could not stay with her but just visit her once a day in the evenings that was so traumatic for us all. and we come to find out that it is illegal to baker act a child with autism in Florida. I am writing this review in hopes that this does not happen to any other child with special needs or autism spectrum disorder at this school. My husband and I agreed to withdraw our daughter from this school because her and all our family experienced such trauma from this event and needless to say we did not trust the school anymore.

On September 21st 20:25 Broward county public schools district office was called regarding the…read moretreatment that my grandkids are getting from some of the staff at sunshine elementary on September 19th my granddaughter said a black cafeteria lady move her snack box to the back of the cafeteria and told her to sit in the back away from her classmates and Friends for no reason my granddaughter it's no concern of hers her job duties are to clean the cafeteria and work the ca. . cash register service staff and kids wash the dishes and prep food she will find herself an unemployment line when it comes to my grandkids on September 18th another incident occured my granddaughter was given a chocolate candy by her teacher for doing good but somebody said she took their candy. my grandkids doesn't steal. so she said this white lady said I knew you it was you accusing her and said take her to the office but we wasn't call or got any notice from the school. My granddaughter also said the principal pulled her hair and her beads felled off. She has no business touching her hair. We had a conference on 9/10/25 with her teacher we brought to her attention that's she writes her letters B AND D BACKWARDS you say write D SHE WRITES B AND VICE Versa so she wrote it down said she would let the counselor know that's how we found out my daughter had dyslexia so the next day my granddaughter said Ms Carmen was telling her things to write and said she pass and gave her a toy, so I let my daughter know .she called the school to find out .and she was told Ms Coleman and the principal told her no your babies were not in the office but we know that's a lie my granddaughter not going to say something happen or was said and its not true we know that for a fact .come to fing out Ms Coleman is the assistant principal so we said only the counselor could test the kids . So she called and assured she doesn't test the kids and that my granddaughter was crying because she couldn't write the letters B and d that was nothing for her to cry about and that the counselor was trying to calm her down why wasn't we called.she writes like that all day even when doing her homework. And has nevered cried now all of a sudden since we let her teacher know during the conference she was crying. Something anit right I also told her teacher at the conference that she said when she used the bathroom the next door teacher always has something to say to her because their bathroom not working so they sharing with the teacher next door.and on 8/20/25 my granddaughter had a accident so I signed them both out of school at 12:33 p.m than the next day my daughter got an email from the school saying. The one that didn't have a accident was late. I said that's a lie they would never come to school that late and school gets out at 2:oo p.m and the principal was in the office at the time I signed them out early that day. So the lady said she corrected it to me that wasn't no accident because it a certain paper you fill out when you sign them out early she wouldn't do that without the principal knowledge. Because she could loose her job than I called out there a week ago to asked when she would be getting her school I'd because they said the printer was broken but finally gave my youngest grandbaby her I'd on 9/2/25 because she was wearing a visitor sticker my granddaughter said they came to her class and took her picture and they was mean to her. But the I'd is a part of the uniform. Because they spreading gossip around the school about my grandkids because we a parent or guardian call the school that conversation sopose to be confidential instead of being spread around to other staff because that's none of their business so I'm spreading this post to the world. Because my grandkids will not be atizonze or bulley by anyone at that school. Because them the same ground ppl that's sopose to protect our kids while in their care at the school. But trying to atizonze a seven year old you gonna have to come thru me about my grandkids just like any parent would protect theirs and my granddaughter said that cafertera lady move her to the back again Monday that was before the distract was called . And the district also was called four times in 2022 about sunshine elem school was mistreating my granddaughter.my granddaughter never had no problems while at ac perry elem. We only switch her because sunshine is their homeschool. And she wanted to be with her sister who started kindergarten.

Under the leadership of Principal Mrs. Kushi, the school provides a nurturing, respectful, and high-achieving environment that truly prepares students for the future. Thanks to the support of amazing teachers and staff, my Son passed the state exams with excellent scores and was accepted into the prestigious New World School of the Arts for high school. He found his passion for music here, built confidence, and felt seen and valued every step of the way. Mrs. Kushi leads with heart and excellence. Her presence, communication, and commitment to students' success have made a lasting impact on our family. The food is disgusting; it looks like it was taken out of the trash and they keep serving the same food every day until it's gone. Teachers constantly yell at students for no reason, which causes stress and makes kids not want to go to school. Ms. Kushi, please take action and speak with your staff in the office -- especially Amy McMillan. She is constantly yelling at children. My son comes home upset because in the cafeteria they weren't even allowed to talk, and he was humiliated in front of everyone just for whispering something to his friend. I would also like to mention Miss Fagens. My daughter had class with her, and Miss Fagens treated my child unfairly. My daughter had a friend in that class, and after my daughter switched classes, the teacher came up to her friend and told her that my daughter was "stupid" because she couldn't understand English, and that my daughter was "an uncontrollable child." I want to clarify that my daughter is very quiet and calm at home because she is well-mannered and raised properly. This school is also full of cockroaches and looks dirty and unsafe. I absolutely do not recommend this school.
