    In June 2025 we searched for an oven repair project on Yelp. The oven was overheating and the door…read morewould lock as a result. Food inside would burn. Error codes appeared and were provided to Peter who responded timely. Over time Grant and Peter both came to our home and attempted to repair the oven. Both were cordial, on time, and left the place clean but neither seemed to have the knowledge or capacity to complete the job. First visit: Grant spent a considerable amount of time researching the error codes and how to proceed using his electronic device (phone or tablet). He replaced a small part and the oven worked a few times then the problem reoccurred. We requested a more experienced tech come out and the owner (I believe) Peter came out. During that second visit Peter suggested rebuilding the motherboard. After months of waiting we received a text that the motherboard had come in. Peter reinstalled the motherboard on the third visit. During our Thanksgiving meal preparation on Thanksgiving Day the problem reoccurred. We called and sent a text in desperation - advising our ham was in the oven. We didn't hear back. We received a text message on 12/1/25, stating they were closed for the holidays, and asking if we were able to get our oven fixed? During the fourth visit Peter didn't know what else to do, and offered to install a new oven or refund the amount of the service call. He sent a quote for over $2100 for a new (low end) Whirlpool wall oven (our current oven is a slide in) which included installation and haul away of the existing oven. I had done some research and determined that that price was greatly inflated so on 12/12/25 we accepted the offer for a refund for the service call of $477. We finally received the refund via Zelle on 1/14/26, after numerous follow up attempts in writing and by phone. Based on this experience it doesn't appear their skill levels go beyond maybe simple repairs or installations. Both Grant and Peter admitted that a lot of the work they do is for home warranty companies. The integrity however is a bit bothersome - the delayed refund, lack of communication pertaining to its status, a lie from the office staff stating an email was sent on 1/5/26 asking if we had Zelle, accepting a job they weren't equipped to complete, and not having on-call response for emergencies. Sorry I can't recommend at this time.

I contacted the…read moremanufacturer and their corporate service division sold us an extended warranty and recommended an appliance service company based in Southern California. That company was not able to repair the washer. One of our neighbors recommended Appliance Worx and I'm so glad they did. Their techs were able to diagnose the problem and repair the washer. While they were here they were also able to clean a blocked dryer vent for us. They were prompt, friendly and efficient and I recommend them highly based on our experience with them.

    I selected Dave's Appliances because of their reviews on yelp. Unfortunately I was disappointed in…read moretheir office communication. Setting up and scheduling the estimate was easy. Availability was same or next day. Their service call of $130 was slightly lower than other companies quoted. The rental property dishwasher was not draining, and we were able to prioritize getting the appointment asap. The arrangement discussed when scheduling was the tenant would be present, and to provide the estimate to and call the owner for authorization of any work that might be needed for the repair. A credit card was given in advance for the payment. They texted me and the tenant to confirm the service window for the estimate. So far so good. On the day of the appointment unfortunately there was no phone call made regarding the estimate. Instead it was texted without further discussion and unclear if the work was completed for additional parts and labor quoted at $436! After multiple phone calls and text messages, the front office clarified that the work had not been completed, only the estimate provided. The service technician had already left the property which was fortunate because the estimate of parts and labor for the repair exceeded the cost of a new replacement dishwasher. I wish the communication by the technician and office would have been clearer, saving some unnecessary concern and back and forth communication about the work needed for the repair. It was unclear if the work was performed without authorization. If the work were authorized, the technician had already left the job site after providing the estimate and would need to be rescheduled to return for the repair on another day. Apparently they didn't have parts on hand to replace the drain pump and hose which seems strange for what is, I imagine, a common problem. I likely won't use this company again should appliance repairs be needed in Davis due to the unclear communications.
