Where to start?
Placed a delivery order and got the confirmation for a 7:42 pm dropoff time.
7:45 comes... no pizza. No big deal... it's a few minutes.
8:00 comes... no pizza. Big deal. It's nearly 20 minutes late. Being the patient person that I am, I call customer service to inquire where in tarnation my order is. I get told that it's left the store. Past that point... no idea. After getting yanked around a couple of times, I did get to a customer service rep who knocked half off my order, and asked to call them if the driver hadn't shown up IN ANOTHER 20 MINUTES OR SO.
Cut to me at 8:18.... As I was informing The Wife, that at 8:20 I was going to just go get something, I see headlights in the driveway.
Driver brought the pizza up to the door, and I signed the receipt. As I started to open boxes he asked if there was something wrong... and I advised him I was checking to make sure it was still at least warm. Which it was, barely.
Unboxing it all, at least they got that right. However, the side salad my wife ordered had a 'Saturday' sticker on it.... which had we ordered it on a Saturday, would've been fine. But since this was Sunday night, it wasn't fine. Not fine at all. The even the pepperoncini was faded and unappetizing.
Needless to say, the salad went into the trash unopened. Along with it went half of The Kid's spagetti, half of The Son's pizza and a few slices of ours. We ate more of ours because I had been working all day, and frankly, I would've eaten the cardboard box.
Skippy the driver offered up NO type of apology, so either he was clueless as to being 40 minutes late, or he hadn't been out as long as I was led to believe and the customer service people lied to cover it up.
Either way, it was sucktastic customer management on their part.
Overall, the entire experience was just short of a disaster, and a reminder why places like Marco and Domino's dominate the local pizza delivery scene.
It'll probably be a cold day down under before I bother with Mazzio's ever again. read more
