I was on the web site and a little concerned. It mentions fishing only from approved fishing boats…read moreand I wasn't sure how much fishing we were going to do, but wanted it as an option. I also wanted the canopy of a pontoon boat to keep us out of the sun if we wanted and assumed fishing would be allowed only from their fishing boats (no canopies). When I called they said that fishing was allowed from some of their pontoons. As she put it "the older ones, but they're still nice with a little smaller engines." I booked one of those. I knew we would want to explore the chain of lakes, but might want to fish some too. It's not the easiest place to find, but when we got there and parked, the lady mowing the grass came over and told us where to park and meet her at the "Tiki Bar." She had plenty of information for us, a map, some likely fishing spots and gave us a quick tour of the boat. They take good care of their boats and want you to do the same. The boat was in great shape. I wouldn't have guessed it was one of the "older ones." The engine had plenty of power to explore. We went on a Thursday (yesterday) and the lakes were not crowded at all. The four hours flew by as we were having a great time exploring and doing a little fishing. If I had to complain about something it was the broken fuel gauge on the boat. It's a little unnerving not knowing how much gas you have when you're in the middle of a lake. They weren't trying to gouge us for gas (you pay for what you use when they fill up upon return). I think this is probably a pretty common problem with boat fuel gauges.

We also often hang around the boat slips when we're in town to fish and their staff treat us like treasured guests even when we're not doing business with them - they always greet us, engage and go out of their way to make us feel welcome. The boats of course are wonderful as well - we have rented twice and both times the boats were clean enough to be brand new, easy to operate and offered the latest tech (it's easier to connect my phone to their Bluetooth speakers than it is to connect it to my own car!). Today's experience was the final straw. When I saw how little alcohol was poured into the super cheap Walmart opaque plastic cup of my friends drink, I commented on it to the 18 year old bartender. And she called the owner/ manager over. The owner proceeded to pour the alcohol In His drink out into a tiny one ounce plastic "shot glass" and then flowed the small remainder onto the bar (which she left for me to clean up). She was talking down to us the entire time and saying that she isn't in the business to give away free drinks. Absolutely absurd! A better approach might have been to pretend the customer matters and not try to humiliate them in front of friends and employees! No wonder the place was almost empty at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night of the biggest boating weekend of the year! Won't be back and will make sure everyone I know hear a this story.

Just had a fantastic experience with Light House!! I've used four different marinas on the chain…read morefor service over the past 18 years, and this Marina stands out for the friendliness, professionalism, honesty, and great work. Light House Marina, a family business, will get my business in the future. Todd, the owner and chief mechanic was thorough and explained in detail all that needed to be done, including some custom body work, and mechanicals. They also sell valvetech gas, which has the additives in it for extended fuel life. The cost for parts was spot on with what I could purchase on my own, which I appreciate the minimal markup, if any. I got very lucky, and they were able to get me in the same day for the mechanicals, and done quickly. The price for labor seemed reasonable to me, as my work required two people. They were also able to accommodate me bringing the boat in off the water, and on to one of their trailers for the work. Just a really nice experience all the way around. And sadly, there are some bad marinas on the chain. Thank you to Todd Scott and Dick.
