Even if there's nothing in it! Anyways, I did as anyone else would do and got a quote from Safelite for my 2021 Chevy Bolt EV (rear passenger glass). Safelite quoted me an eyewatering $517.00 after waiving the $49.00 on site fee. I felt that was rather high. I googled other locations and read a good review about California Auto Glass. I called Lucy answered and quoted $175.00 for the same glass. That's a $342.00 difference. Glass is glass folks. Only difference was I had to bring the car in. The shop is mom and pop but organized. They were quick and efficient. The installer; didn't get his name told me had 10 years of auto glass installation BEFORE he opened California Auto Glass. Found out subsequently he was the owner. Said the car would be ready in an hour and it was. They also provide "snacks" etc. for the customers. I walked away with fresh cucumbers. They gave me a choice of that or watermelon. I'm serious. Great place and great people. Don't get ripped off by there other glass places. I don't work for CAG nor do I have any personal connection to them.

My partner found them on yelp and with nearly 5 stars, I decided to give them a call. They had the window I needed on hand and could replace it that morning, they work by first come - first serve. I went down there right away and within a few minutes turned over my keys for the repair. They quoted me $155 (out of pocket, without insurance), which sounded fair and honestly unbelievable at first for SF, but I went with it. My sister picked me up from the shop during the install and when she dropped me off she mentioned that she needed her windshield replaced. She got a quote, processed through insurance and replaced the next day. When I get to my car, they had cleaned all of the glass from the seats, cupholders and carpet. They restored my car back and honestly made my crappy day better, quickly. This is not my first window replacement, unfortunately... I have had it happen a few times before, but now I will always call and recommend In & Out Auto Glass. Not only are they the best deal in town for window replacement (insurance or without), but they are fast and will get you back in your wheels again.

Well, I'd rate my experience a 6/5 if I could... but here we are…read more Note, I chose Fix Auto on 450 Potrero without any recommendations; I chose this shop because it was the closest Tesla-approved shop with vetted Yelp and Google Reviews and avaiabilities within the week. Aaaand here I am, adding another shining review because of Mister Denny Chen - but not because he and his team did their jobs well; rather because they went above and beyond. My case: - My 2025 Tesla Model S Plaid's front bumper and its PPF got sliced open by an errant rock. The PPF bubbled out and took the underlying paint with it when I took the car into a touchless car wash. - Not the first repaint: 1st and 2nd repaints were at a non-Tesla-approved shop, 2nd was to fix a defect from the 1st. - My Tesla's got the bleach white seats, and apparently I'm kind of a picky neat freak (a certain Mission St body shop once called me "a pain in the a**" for asking if they could buff out a dust nib that got caught in their clear coat application). My experience at Fix Auto Potrero: - Claims process started via the Tesla app (I have Tesla Insurance); I chose this shop via the app for the aforementioned reasons, but also because I had paint quality concerns about the previous body shop, so I wanted to see how a Tesla-approved shop would compare. - Arrival: I pulled into the shop an hour after submitting the claim, and was quickly greeted by Denny. Frankly, it's hard not to like him - he's down-to-earth and good-humored; professional and experienced; well-dressed, and well-connected. I ended up sitting down with Denny for about half an hour: with him somehow multitasking while holding an engaging conversation about various car brands and mechanics know-how. - Diagnostic and quote: Besides the obvious dent from the rock, Denny showed me that there's a problem with the previous repaint's bond, which is why it lifted so easily with the PPF from the car wash. Not that cost mattered in this case, as insurance was going to cover most of the bill, but the quote Denny gave me was actually about the same as the previous shop (which was non-Tesla approved). - Repair time: In total, 3 business days was all that was needed (2 for insurance to approve, 1 for the PPF removal+repaint), but they let me leave my car with them for a week because I was busy (I confirmed with Denny (in person) and Yuen (over the phone) that it was fine). - Pickup, car condition: Of course, front bumper's fixed. But being the nit-picker I am, I expect to find a few paint nibs in the base/clear coats, paint dust sprinkles, greasy fingerprints and dirt on the glass and white seats, and maybe the sweaty aroma of hard work: such is normal for many body shops or maintenance centers. Well, they didn't fail my expectations: 1 finger print on the driverside door window, 1 paint dust spot on the hood and 1 on the rear lift gate, a few more paint dust spots on the front bumper lower lip, 1 slight smudge on the passenger seat left bolster, aaaaand... a car that looks like it was washed and detailed?? Yeah - they washed my car (hence the paint dust spots looked like they were watery remnants from a good spray-down; they came right off with a quick wipe with water and microfiber)... but they also applied a subtle tire shine... like, Wow - now that is Service. By the time I sat down in the car, it actually smelled fresh - no odors at all! And the Tesla center console screen - surely it would be a smudgey mess... nope - it was only about as lightly finger printed as I remembered, mostly from my own fingers, and then some new ones on the left side for gear shifting. I nitpick, but this is the best condition I've ever found my car returned in from a body shop. As Denny pulled up with my car, I saw that the driver seat was covered with a full seat cover - which of course was how the white vegan leather stayed so clean. Of and the paintjob? 2 checks: smooth and nibless. - Pickup, etc: Being delighted and truly impressed to find my car looking as pristine if not more than when I left it in Denny's care, I struck up some nerdy gamer banter about the various games, retro consoles, collectables (e.g. figures, plushies, Pokemon trading cards, etc.), recommendations (e.g. Zerospace), and then about cars again (e.g. Impressive Wraps), etc. The man is truly a delight, but also evidently a treasure to wherever he works. But alas, it came time for him to hand my keycard back to me: that's when I found that he encased in a sealed card sleeve. Yeah: like what you put your rare collectable trading cards in... Not only was the level of care for a $25 keycard just outstanding, but the relevance I felt for the conversations we just had (i.e., about collectables) was on an uncanny level of situational irony. Meeting this guy in a random auto body shop... kinda felt like finding a secret boss. Simply: Fair quotes. Outstanding servicemanship. Thank you Denny, Yuen, and the 450 Potrero Fix Auto team!

I just wanted it replaced so I stop worrying about the upcoming winter/rainy season. He quoted me under $800 before tax (I have a lane departure camera so the recalibration is a factor for the higher quote). Otto came out to my area and helped me assess my windshield. He discovered that the glue that the person used to install my former windshield did not apply it well, which caused gaps and rust. He completed the job in less than 2 hours. They were both very communicative and assured me they will do the best they could for my car. I felt like I was in good hands, and appreciated their professionalism and communication. I will refer them to any of my friends who need a windshield replacement!
