I wish I could write a better review. When my window was broken they were responsive and came to me the same day to fix the window for a reasonable price: I was happy, albeit still waiting for a invoice from them. The next month the window stopped rolling down. A-1 Glass was totally unreachable to address the installation issue and I had to go to another shop to have it addressed. A1 did not reinstall mounting Pins for the glass. The cost of repairs was twice the price of the original glass replacement. I can't recommend this business... if they are still in operation. read more

I had a reaaaaaly bad start to my week a while ago and my car window was smashed in while parked in GG Park (right near the Conservatory of Flowers.) Needed it fixed ASAP, and A-1 fit me in at around 8:30 in the AM. I waited at the golden arches across the street for about 2 hours, and by 11AM I was back at work (not that I wanted to be back at work, but i kind of had to be.) Price was right, $220 or so, including tax. HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH LEFTOVER GLASS PIECES in my car, underneath the seat, and in the area between the 2 front seats???? I ALMOST cut myself b/c I put my hand in there and felt the shards of glass!! FREAKING A! Glass is still left in my car as i write this, btw. I don't own a super-duper industrial vacuum cleaner, and I don't really feel like sticking my hand underneath the car seat to deal with it myself. two stars. What a way to start the work week than to go out to one's car only to find the right rear window busted. Jerks. I'm super careful about leaving nothing in my car...seriously, nothing. I don't even keep the registration in there, I keep it on my person and a copy in my house. I'm no dummy. I've learned the hard way about using my car as a purse/suitcase (my personal favorite break-in was the tag-team effort where they broke BOTH windows only to find that my stereo had already been stolen, so they angrily ripped up the papers I had in my car to be graded. Sweet.). Well, whatever, no use in crying over broken glass, so I embark on the (cold and a bit windier than usual) mile's drive to work. Once there, thanks to yelp, I find A-1 Glass located a few blocks from my work down in the Bayview/H.P. I get on the horn to see if they can't help me out, but since I start work at the crack of bejeezus, I have to leave a message for them to call me back. Which they do, right on the button at 9 am. Cool, they've got my window in stock, sure no problem they can get it done today, oh we're so sorry, you work at a school, you're a teacher, oh that's terrible. So, around 11 I drop it off and fill out the paperwork. They're fast and they call me "honey" all the time through it. Ahhhhh. Thanks A-1 for your great work on my car. I called Rolando yesterday and told him I needed to replace the small triangular window on the rear passenger-side door of my 2000 Altima. He instantly knew what I was talking about, told me the part was in stock, and quoted me an excellent price. Today, I have a new window and I'm not even broke(r). There was one hiccup, which was that the shop opened a bit later in the morning than I was informed it would be, so I had to come back a couple hours later. However, considering the price, the speed and quality of the work, and the fact that they were really friendly, I'm still calling it five stars. If my car gets smashed again, they're my first call. At first I was kinda skeptical since that area is rather ghhheeettttoooo but I went anyway...with a friend (just in case). The guy who fixed my window was a comedian -- he pretended to stab himself w/ his tool as he was replacing my window. Ha ha. He also yanked on the rubber part of the window so hard I swear my door was going to fall off. Fix my window but break my door? Good thing that didn't happen. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Oh man, my window got smashed (first time after living in the mission for 3 years... not bad). I called around and this shop was the cheapest shop and the only place that actually had the piece of glass in stock. I showed up and they fixed it really quick, didn't even charge me tax. Like a week later I noticed that they didn't put the rubber seal on correctly and there's huge scrapes on the door from them using a screwdriver or whatever to pry the seal out. I was too busy at the time go to back and complain, so now the window leaks suds into my car whenever I goto a carwash. In retrospect, I could have gone to the autowreckers and got the same piece of glass for $15 and done the same shitty job (including scratching my paint and not putting the seal on correctly ) myself instead of paying them $100 to mess up my car. read more

I needed to have a flat sheet of glass cut in two places, and after calling around to a bunch of places, no one seemed to "be able to" do that kind of thing. I called A-1 and the guy told me to come on in, and I arrived right after his car had been smashed in a hit-and-run on the street outside! Despite the stress of dealing with that, he was very very friendly to me and cut my glass right when I arrived! I had a mildly confusing measurement based on a wavy line, and we figured out the best way to cut it -- together -- and then he did it right then and there, sanded down the edges, and I was out in less than 10 minutes. The price is perfect, the timing unbeatable, quality superb, and service excellent. If I ever need to cut glass again, I'll be there in a heartbeat. read more

Was quoted an hour and half for the work, went to Bayshore Grocery and got some great tacos (at 9:15, remind you), killed some time at Lowes, and got a phone call right at 10:30 telling me the work was completed. My car was parked on folsom street last and unfortunately some stupid mf decided to break my window and make a hot mess of my life. We ended up calling local shops in san francisco. This place is awesome. Someone broke into my car during an overnight shift so I immediately started calling around to get quotes on a new driver side window glass. Everywhere I looked were charging more than $200 and wouldnt be able to fix it in the same day. Safelite was $269 and they didnt have an available appointment until Tuesday (break in happened on friday night). So i called A-1 after a friend referred it to me, the guy quoted me $125 and said to bring the car asap and he would fix it for me im 45mins to 1 hour. I drove over there immediately and the mechanic only took about 15 mins to do his work. This place saved me tons of money and time driving around without a window. Lifesaver! read more
