Please, for your own sake, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!…read more In case they change company names, the owner is Laura (Allen) Woods. I am putting this review on here because I really hate to see this person rip off elderly people. Here is the "detailed" breakdown which she sent me about my sale: Retro & Antique Estate Sale Net Sales 5733.13 X 30% 1,719.94 (commission) 5,692.43 -1,719.94 3972.49 Payroll, Advertising, extra shed labor 3972.49 -532.40 -3021.00 = 419.09 The sale made $5733.13 and I was told my portion was $419.09. I repeatedly asked for details on the payroll, advertising, and labor costs but got none. My email to the owner: Laura, I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with how my estate sale was handled. From the beginning, I entrusted your company with significant responsibility. I provided my parents' items to be sold, prepared the house for use, and invested a great deal of my own time organizing and sorting belongings, both from the house and the outbuilding, so your team could efficiently process them. Given that level of preparation, I was surprised to hear repeated concerns about disorganization. What is most troubling, however, is the lack of transparency in the final report. The breakdown you provided does not meet even basic expectations for financial accountability. It does not include hours worked, itemized sales, or clear documentation of how proceeds were calculated. In my professional role handling accounting, HR, and payroll for a nonprofit organization, I am accustomed to detailed reporting standards, and this report falls far short of those expectations. Additionally, I personally invested money into preparing certain items for sale, such as purchasing parts for the lawnmower, without any clear return of that effort. I also have concerns about pricing strategy and advertising, as many items appeared significantly overpriced and the turnout did not reflect what I would consider adequate promotion. There are also liability concerns that were never clearly addressed. An incident involving your dog resulted in my cousin being knocked down, and it appears I could have been exposed to legal risk despite the circumstances being outside my control. Overall, this experience has been extremely disappointing. I feel the process lacked transparency, fairness, and professionalism. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend your estate sale services. I am requesting a more detailed accounting of the sale, including itemized transactions, labor hours, and a clear explanation of how proceeds were distributed. Please provide this information within a reasonable timeframe. Her response: I am sorry you're dissatisfied with your sale, but my team worked hard to sort, stage, price and hold your sale. We came a huge distance to do it for you. The garage was a lot of it, and no disrespect but it was a mess. I can send you a transaction report again, that shows each day of sales. Friday was awful, really hurt the sale despite my advertising. I also have a payroll report for your sale and could have charged $125 an hour. I do not have control of the market, or what people want to buy as it ebbs and flows to different items. But, I do see why others didn't want to do the sale because of the rural location. It was the worst sale I have ever hosted and that is neither your fault, nor mine. I am not happy how it turned out for you, but it was out of my control. I told you I would try my best, and I did. On the bright side, you didn't have to write us a check as you would have with everyone else. A clean out would have cost you 8,000 to 12,000. As far as the break down, you should have received a daily sales report, it tells how many items sold each day. Even though you had sorted some things, there was still a lot that had to be done. After the sale, I would have cleaned and organized more if you had wanted me to. Sincerely, Laura Like I said at the beginning of this review, please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY for your estate sale!!!!!!!!!!

*** DO NOT SHOP WITH THEM *** As seasoned shoppers of…read moreestate sales, this team is so unprofessional! We will avoid at all costs! While we were shopping, they REPRICED an item in our hold pile after researching it. The gentleman accused us of tag swapping. Once we defended ourselves (as we had not) he said, "well, lots of people have been doing it and I know this is not right." All of this was a huge distraction as they rung us up. We paid cash and it was not until we got home that we saw where they repriced a $25 item for $60! Not only that, but they charged us for it twice! So an item that we picked up priced at $25, we were accused of tag swapping for, and then charged $120! I know that seems like a huge price difference to not notice, but we bought several bags worth of items and it was all so confusing towards the end. *** UPDATE *** The owner did get in touch with me after I posted my review. She did make it right with a refund for the over charge, but my interaction with her was worse than the on-site interaction. I am grateful for the refund, but not the hassle that came with it. We won't shop with them again.

I sent payment exactly as their…read moreterms required, including providing tracking for my check, yet they still marked me as a non-payment. I even reached out by text and initially got a response, but when I asked for clarification, I was completely ignored. I still wanted my items. I'm also an hour behind their time zone, so communication delays are a bit of an issue especially for working people. What's even more frustrating is that I've been a customer before -- I spent over $4,500 in their last auction -- yet they treated me like I'm not good enough. Their items are really not as stated. The firearms were in much worse condition than stated. To make matters worse, their packaging for firearms is careless; they just toss guns into boxes with minimal protection. They also charge an astronomical price in shipping yet blame it on UPS. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, Compass Auctions blocked me on HiBid and even spread misinformation that caused problems with other auctions. HiBid unfortunately does not protect buyers and one bad mark can ruin a persons bidding score. Their lack of professionalism and honesty has completely ruined my trust. I do not recommend doing business with them. These are crooked people!

I recently had a disappointing experience with Compass Auctions located at 3114 Freeman Street,…read moreChattanooga, TN, that I feel compelled to share. I participated in an auction for a 2014 Nissan Murano, and the lack of transparency and professionalism displayed by the auction house has left me frustrated and dissatisfied. Firstly, the auction failed to disclose critical information regarding the vehicle's condition. Despite their promotional video showing the vehicle being driven, it was noted that the transmission was "slipping." This significant issue was mentioned not emphasized in the listing, leading me to believe that the vehicle was in better condition than it actually was based on their video of the vehicle being operated. After successfully loading the vehicle onto the car hauler without any issues, I assumed everything was fine. However, upon unloading at home, the vehicle could not make it up my driveway. After consulting a reliable transmission shop, I learned that the transmission was not repairable due to the unavailability of parts, and the cost to replace it exceeded a staggering $7,550.00. When I reached out to Compass Auctions to address these concerns, I was met with a dismissive attitude. They insisted that the listing's mention of the slipping transmission was sufficient and refused to take responsibility for the missing key, which would cost an additional $285.00 to replace and NOT mentioned in their listing. This lack of accountability and customer service is unacceptable. They couldn't sign responses to emails until I pressed them for the title. In summary, my experience with Compass Auctions has been nothing short of frustrating. Their failure to provide essential information about the vehicle and their unprofessional response to my inquiries make it clear that this is an auction house to avoid at all costs. If you're considering participating in their auctions, I highly recommend proceeding with caution and fully researching the items before bidding. This was not my first rodeo but one that taught never rely on that the staff may tell you.
