Because of this, it can be a crapshoot sometimes with the paper and cardboard/plactic bottle bins--in other words, be aware that these can be totally packed to the gills sometime. When that's the case I venture to the location on Lee or over near the 7-Eleven on GW Way. Save the Earth: recycle!

I might have received some coin for all the cardboard, but the main thing here is this is a place that can handle your big loads of aluminum, cardboard, paper, etc. Check out their websites for the specifics on what they recycle, and how much you can get paid (yeeyah, Benjamins, baby!) ;)

I attempted to stop by the location in Yakima this morning. I pulled and waited for several…read moreminutes, then a guy that seemed like he didn't know anything softly asked if I needed help. I told him I had not been there before and asked what to do. He said people normally park out on the street and they bring them a bin. I rattled off what I had in my trailer, with about 2k lbs of steel and iron in it, and he said he wasn't sure what you take and would ask someone. I told him I checked the website and verified, but ok. Another guy came walking out a min or so later and said, "move your car", I told him I was waiting for someone to check my load and gestured to the fact that I was currently blocked in. He told me another customer needed to leave (who could easily pull out without me moving) and in a very hard, almost yell told me "your going to move right now". I told him I was going to leave, never come back, and leave bad reviews and he just walked off, not caring at all. Meanwhile the 1st guy stood there dumbfounded. I got some help from another patron to squeeze back out and went to another place down the road. I was told by others not to go here because the people suck, I thought I would find out for myself... they were right.

I generally hit the bins at the Uptown (http://www.yelp.com/biz/recycling-drop-box---uptown-shopping-center-richland) since they are closer, but they can sometimes be filled to the gills---especially after Xmas. So, I'll venture to the other side of town and make drop offs here. It's really not that out of the way. If I'm goin' to Freddies or the gym, I can easily make a pit stop here on the way home. I've never run into other people here, so there's no worry about access or awkward glances. So get to it, people. Save the Earth. Be Proactive. Screw Trash Trucks!!

Action is great. I was going there for years. But about 4 months ago I found a place in post falls…read moreidaho called universal metals. It's a 1 man operation and you have to make an appointment. I take a lot of metal in . universal metals pays so much better there prices vary slightly from week to week. Here's what they normally pay. $3.60, $3.50, $3.40 a pound for striped copper, $210 a pound for brass, $1.70 a pound for copper/ aluimium radiators. 20 cents a pound for batteries, 80 cents a pound for aluminum Rims, 55 cents a pound for chrome wheels, 80 cents a pound and down for aluminum if it's cut in 3 feet lengths or less. Brass radiators $2.00 a pound And top dollar for catalytic converters. They don't take cans. They pay way more 50 to 60 cents more a pound for copper and brass and double what spokane area pays. The guy is friendly and pays you in cash. I cash in over $4000.00 of metal in a u haul truck. I highly recommend this place, I like action but if you can make more it's worth it taking it to universal metals.
