My kids (11,9,3,1) LOVE this place. We have been multiple times and they never get tired of the attractions. We were there for 5 hours today and they could (wanted) to stay longer!

We have such a great time exploring in the museum. We spent hours here and the kids were so exciting in each room. It's not overly crowded - so much to see and do! Staff was super friendly throughout the place.

I read about the Mayborn Museum in a travel magazine article and marked it as a place to see while in Waco. This museum was easy to find with a small lot in front which provided free parking. The building itself looked impressive with a colonial style architecture. Since it is located on the campus of Baylor University students get in free but we generously paid our adult admissions. As a brief note this natural history museum may not big as big as the Smithsonian but contains a little of everything from local wildlife, heritage, fossils, University culture and children educational exhibits. We walked through a maze of rooms and surprised how well everything was presented and organized. It's well thought out and professionally designed. You can learn everything about the history of the lower Brazos region at one location. Outside in the museum's backyard contains the western Historic Village with buildings from the 1800s brought here. You can go inside some of the buildings like the church were I heard a small girl playing an upright piano and a schoolhouse where another child was trying to write cursive on a chalkboard. It's all very interactive. Giant pecan trees provided shade and pecans if wanted to snack on. While back inside found a nice history and collection of Baylor University mementos, store and coffee shop. There are lots of corridors leading to different sections of the museum from the lobby where one leads to a huge area designated like a children's museum. There was even a traveling exhibit for little ones. It was late in the day but able to explore it all a little over 2 hours before they closed. I thought the whole Mayborn Museum package was well done and recommended it for those visiting Waco in learning about a different part of Texas.

We had a wonderful family day at the Mayborne Museum during the last week of February in Waco, Texas! We went to visit our daughters family for a week and this was our favorite outing! There are so many amazing things to do at this museum inside & outdoors! The outside has a cool bell and school house with a piano etc! There's just a lot to do & take in! Then on inside there's several rooms that each focus on one subject. The dinosaur room has virtual reality dinosaurs! It looks like they're really interacting with you! There's a musical room, cowboy room & a tea party & bubbles room! There's an indoor slide and little indoor playground. My granddaughter is 3 & she loved it! Our grandson is only one year old and he loved the giant bubbles! It's a super great family fun place to go! I highly recommend going to this museum if you're in the area!

If you are looking for activities for family activities for children and adults, definitely a place to visit. These place does not have an age limit because it is interactive. Not pricey and a lot to see. We spend three hours with our two children. Most museum they follow you and it feels like you are being rushed. You can take your time with these place and no one bothers you. The bathroom and the museum is clean which is a plus. I definitely recommend it if you are visiting Waco.

My family and I really enjoyed our visit here. So much for each age group in our family to do. Kudos to them for offering a military discount to veterans.

This is a very nice museum with interactive displays that children would really like. It was a pretty quick walk-through but informative with a good collection of items and displays including about Baylor college. There is a village outside in the back with historic buildings. There are also some meeting area spaces on the upper level. Parking was easy.

The store at the museum.

How long does it take to go through the museum and titanic exhibit? We're planning a trip and want to make sure we can see everything.

This varies, but with two large floors, I would estimate from one to three hours.

They have a children's area that is great for smaller kiddos; lots of hands on fun, animals, and a wide range of very educational rooms.

I went here strictly for my husband because he loves Dr Pepper! Everyone here was very kind and helpful. The history of Dr Pepper includes the founders collection and sharing of marbles and on each marble was the second Commandment. Just goes to show you -- "acknowledge God in all you do and he will make your path straight!" He was also very passionate about equal rights for all people and put people of color in his advertisements long before it was acceptable to much of the public. The fact that this soda pop was the first soda pop, even before Pepsi and Coke and was founded right here in our lovely state of Texas , where we're just a little bit closer to God, warms my heart There are lots of very interesting exhibits to see, including the largest Dr Pepper bottle. They have special packages where you can make your own soda pop. They give you a free Dr Pepper with your admittance ticket. The gift shop is very nice, I picked up a lot of nice things in there, including a Dr Pepper shirt. Everyone I saw seem to be having a good time. They have plenty of parking and parking cost $10. Admission to Dr Pepper museum is $12. The package is our additional please check out their website. I highly suggest to visit!

I'm also glad I happened to bring my National Park passport (you just never know!) Anyway, Waco Mammoth is definitely one of the more unusual units of the National Park System I've visited but also worth the visit!!! The history behind the site is fascinating. After two men discovered bones in 1978, researchers from Baylor University and other institutions began excavating the area and quickly realized they had uncovered something incredible! More and more fossils were found and in 2015 my guy President Obama established the site as an official unit of the National Park System. Though, one thing visitors should know ahead of time is that even though this is a National Park Service site, our America the Beautiful passes do NOT work here. General entry to the park grounds is free, but there is a separate fee to enter the dig shelter because it is operated in partnership with the City of Waco to help support preservation efforts. The actual dig shelter is absolutely the highlight of the experience, though you'll need to join a guided tour led by a docent. Hopefully you end up with one who is especially knowledgeable and enthusiastic because that really makes the experience come alive. I loved seeing the nation's first and only recorded evidence of a nursery herd of Colombian Mammoths from the Ice Age! So neat. At least 19 mammoths were discovered and the jury (err, scientists) are still out on how exactly these mammoths came to be trapped at this site/the reasoning for their passing. Anyway, this is a fascinating stop and absolutely worth visiting if you're in the Waco area, especially if you enjoy history, science, paleontology, or just visiting National Park units. It's not a full-day destination by any means, but it's definitely educational, memorable, and offers something very different from the typical national park experience!

After walking around for about half an hour, I was informed about a tour starting at 10 a.m. Of course I couldn't pass that up. Rachel, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Her passion for the library and the Brownings showed through the information she gave. Lots of positive energy! In addition to the collection and ambiance/architecture of the library, the grounds are worth checking out. I will have to come visit again in order to really soak in all that the place has to offer. Please don't wait as long as I have to visit.

It's not Shakespeare; it's Elizabeth Barrett Browning. This library/museum includes a wide array of artwork, personal effects, and manuscripts by Robert Browning and his wife Elizabeth. If you're a scholar of Victorian poetry, researching here would be a dream come true. Even if you're not a fan of Victorian poetry, the Armstrong Browning Library is worth a visit. The beautiful building, which frequently hosts weddings and special events, contains the largest collection of secular stained glass in the world. You might also enjoy the unique and fascinating architectural details throughout the interior of the building. If pottery or porcelain is your thing, check out the Wedgwood and pottery collections, too. Upstairs, the curators have recreated the Browning's home, complete with their authentic furniture and decor. If you ever wondered about life in the mid-1800s, this could give you a pretty accurate picture of it. Admission is free, so check this place out next time you're in the heart of Texas!

David Koresh was the cult leader of the Branch Davidians, a religious sect based at the Mount Carmel Center near Waco, Texas. The group believed in apocalyptic prophecies and Koresh claimed to be the messiah. Allegations of child abuse and illegal weapons stockpiling drew federal attention. For 51 days, there was a standoff between the Branch Davidians and the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms (ATF) and later including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
