I finally got around to checking out this awesome little market in PV. If they didn't have the flags outside by the street, you probably wouldn't notice it. Today I was in the mood for burritos and since it was on the early side I ordered up a breakfast w/bacon along with a carne asada burrito for later, both have good portions and tasty. Checking out the menu I saw the pollo adaso plate that I wanted to get too but they had just fired up the grill which is setup outside in front, so Ill have to come back another day and try it. I also picked up a bag of their tortilla chips w their hot salsa they make, so good! Everyone that worked here was super friendly. Fantastic queso Birria tacos!! Most I've had in other places in PV were just OK. These were exceptional! They sell the best flour tortillas and corn tortillas. Ask David which are his fav. Having never been there before I didn't know what to expect. It's not very big inside but it many of the essentials for my kitchen pantry. I don't speak Spanish but he entire staff both English speaking it non, we're super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Update!!!!! The owner reached out to me and sincerely apologized. He spoke with his staff..and he provided some on time Tuesday tacos for me. I told him that if I order from them again and they are good on delivery.. I will change my rating, so until then TBD The tacos were great by the way! Old review: My friend ordered 40 tacos over the phone for game night at her house.. the lady on the phone said it would be 45 minutes till pick up. We get there and pay..... it literally took them 40 minutes from the time we paid to get the tacos . They didn't even start making the tacos till at least 20 minutes after we paid. We sat there waiting, watching a bunch of people get their food after ordering on the spot. What a joke. Yes the tacos were good but after waiting that long, it completely cut into our entire night of fun and by the time we got the food home everyone was hangry. Great place! I finally found a really good place to get all my ingredients for my Mexican food.

I was looking forward to getting a happy box. Their tacos Are good. I got a mini box which was a lot of rotted fruit and expired groceries. We got several loaof day old bread. I will never come back. There was some frozen beef and drumsticks. I will have check them to make sure they are ok. My wife had to throw out most of the fruit and vegetables. Everything is expired that they gave us. Is it legal to sell us expired groceries? I asked what was in the box and was told I don't know. You will have to check face book. If I knew it was expired groceries and rotted fruits and vegetables I would have passed. read more

I wanted to support a local business and I heard online that Maya's Mercado had a good selection of pinatas. My son picked one out and my husband bought it for $55. The next day upon my return to town I asked my husband to return it (as I would never pay $55 for a pinata). However, much to my surprise, my husband was told he couldn't return it, even if you bought it less than 24 hours prior and you have the receipt. There was no signage anywhere saying final sale no returns. We will not be shopping here again. read more

WOW! What a hidden gem! I am in love with this little shop and kitchen. Their food is amazing! Best authentic Mexican food I've ever found in northern Arizona, hands down. Maya's Mercado is a small Mexican grocery and convenience store that also has a little line kitchen for tacos, burritos, etc. to go. Round of applause for the woman who made our food, everything was cooked perfectly. She knows what she's doing! There is some patio seating available outside the store. Nice selection of produce, meat, tortillas, and some harder to find Latino ingredients and kitchen ware. Helados, queso fresco, they've got it all! Great prices, especially on mangos. We also were pleasantly surprised by the horchata concentrate they stock, still not quite the real deal... but hands down the best pre made concentrate I've ever found. If I didn't live 24 hours away, this place would be a second home. Staff were so pleasant and helpful; give these guys your business, you won't regret it!! read more

I so badly wanted to love this place, so badly! I come from a border town, which makes me very picky about my Mexican food. On first glance this place is your typical Mexican market, and I loved that! I came here for burritos. We got a chicken burrito and a carne asada burro. They make them right there in front of you, and you know it's not just pre made which is always a plus. It takes awhile but it's a good touch. The market has great cheap produce. The size of the zucchini is like one straight out of a garden in your backyard and for only 99 cents/lb. So the market for me gets 4 stars for sure. Now the burros... The chicken one is more like An Asian fusion burro, the chicken was orange like in an artificial way, and had a sweet taste. It wasn't too flavorful either. The carne asada was kinda spicy but generally lacked flavor as well. The burros also fall apart and you can't actually eat them the way you should be able to. Overall I'll come back to the market but not the food. read more

Came in expecting a $5 burrito like some reviews stated but now a carne asada burrito runs $6.99. It was huge and filling but was rather dry. Thankfully I requested an extra salsa to dip my burrito in because the salsa cups are small. I still ran out of salsa midway through eating. Be aware that there's a $.95 fee for using plastic, no matter how much you spend. So have some cash handy if you want to avoid that fee. Lastly, the employees were very nice, and a produce looked good and was priced to sell, a carton of strawberries for $.99! Did you know strawberries are an awesome source of vitamin C? :) read more

This is a neat little mercado, the size of a convenience store.aside from the few isles at the rear of the store, most of the floor is made up of tables. The items are kind of random from expired sauces to freshly roasted hatch green chiles. The meat counter is my favorite spot, and I like to get the tacos 5 for 6 bucks. Nothing was pre-cooked, so it was very fresh, but it did take slightly longer than most taquerias for the food to be cooked. I feel like this was well worth it to have the freshest meet in it. The salsas are very tasty, as well. This is salsa fresca (as opposed to the creamy sauces, or the vinegar-based ones), and the hot one was pretty hot, indeed. Wanting to go back and try a burrito or torta. They also have a smoker out front on the weekends where they roast whole chickens and sell it as a family dinner with tortillas and beans. I'm absolutely thrilled to write this review of Maya's Mercado! I went there tonight for the first time and was so impressed with everything about this business! First, I called to see if they had a menu online thinking that it was a Mexican Restaurant and I could place a to go order! They told me they did not have a menu but would be very happy to tell me anything I wanted to know. I found out that they are more a Mexican grocery store that has a meat and deli counter that makes fresh food to go or you can buy the meats and take them home and cook them. They also have fresh produce that is gorgeous! We went over and I was immediately hit with the scent of the most incredible food. My friend and I were helped by the owner to understand what they had to order and take home! She was amazing!! Well, I had a Shrimp Burrito and my friend had the Carne Asada Burrito. We also ordered the BBQ whole chicken, some fresh guacamole and salsa. The flavor of the shrimp was memorable and that Carne Asada was the best we've ever had! You can leave without ordering the chicken! OMG, I don't know how to describe how good this was....... THIS IS THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD I'VE EVER TASTED!!!! I'm going home to Phoenix tomorrow and am thinking of what I can buy before I leave just so I can have it at home! Run ....... don't walk to this place! This is a family owned grocery store that makes real Mexican food from family recipes. I have had the following food from Maya's: Foot-long, Carne Asada Burrito for only $5.00. (It was worth at least $7.00 and extremely good) 99-cent Carne Asada Street Taco (extremely good, veggies and meat prepared right in front of me) Menudo (red style, I LOVE menudo and their menudo is outstanding) Barbacoa (I was raised in a Mexican household and never had this soup-dish. when I did, I almost died and went to heaven. seriously that good just not for the Spicy-Food haters) Posole (I love this as much as the barbacoa.) I hope they put up pictures of the shop and of food soon. I can't get enough of this place. I am in absolute LOVE with Maya's burritos. They are honestly some of, if not the best burritos I've ever had. They make burritos & tacos all day friday & saturday, but can be called in & ordered any day of the week. Everything is made fresh. I always get the beef burrito & it typically has rice, beans, cilantro, onions, & salsa. These are HUGE burritos with delicious ingredients. They make Carne Asada burritos as well which is my friends favorite. It only costs about $6 which is a total steal. They make other things as well such as Menudo, Barbacoa & Chicken. Can't say enough good things about this place and it's owners- They quietly do so much for our community year 'round, not just during the holidays. Great food, great prices, & awesome service. They have a butcher shop, deli counter, fresh home made salsa, chips, and guacamole, and most of the time have some kind of special going for "Happy Boxes".
