Very professional, but with a touch of care and consideration for those of us terrified of the chair!

One star, and that is generous…read more I had a terrible experience with Bedford Dental Associates under Michael S. Garber, DMD, and most of it comes down to administrative incompetence. Yes, I had missed a few appointments in the past. That does not justify what happened next. At my following appointment, I was left sitting in the waiting room for a full hour with absolutely no explanation. Other patients arrived after me and were taken back almost immediately. The front desk staff was right there within whispering distance the entire time and chose not to say a word. When I was finally called in, the hygienist said there had been an emergency. Emergencies happen, but basic communication is not optional. It felt like my time was simply expendable, but theirs wasn't. The real problem, though, is the front desk receptionist. When I decided to switch dentists, I requested my X-rays and dental records, which requires a standard release form. I was told it would be emailed to me that day. A few hours passed, so I followed up, I was met with attitude and told they were very busy and she had not gotten to it. When I politely asked if it could be sent by the end of the day, she snapped that I would not be getting the records that day anyway. A full week passed with no email or release form. When I called again, I was definitely more stern and, yes, rude and condescending in response to the ongoing lack of professionalism. I figured that speaking her language would work and yes, it worked. I received the email within five minutes. It's noteworthy that there was no body to the email, just a subject line that said "RELEASE FORM" all caps. That alone says everything. It should not take rudeness to get a simple, legally routine request fulfilled. This is not complicated work. It does not require a genius to pull a standard file, attach it to an email, and press the send button. Instead of acknowledging her failure, the receptionist complained about my tone and accused me of being condescending. Based on the repeated delays, poor attitude, and inability to handle basic administrative tasks, I genuinely wondered if she failed out of secretary school. This woman is for sure dumber than a bag of hammers. Between the unexplained wait times, the dismissive behavior, and an admin staff that seems completely unqualified, I would never recommend this office. If you value your time and expect basic professionalism, look elsewhere.

Let me start off with that I'm incredibly happy to not be writing the first review for Dr…read more DiMattia. I've been going to Dr. DiMattia for as long as I can remember. I even make the drive from the North Shore to Lexington to continue with such a tremendous dentist. From the moment you enter you are greeted by the most lovely women working the front desk. On certain days even Dr. DiMattia's wife is working. They remember most patients by name and will inquire about family, work etc. I usually see Joan for my cleanings. She books quickly because she is awesome. She does such a thorough job but you don't feel like your teeth have been assaulted. You leave saying wow so that's what they're supposed to feel like. Again Joan has worked for Dr. DiMattia for years. Having employees that stick with a dentist I think show the character of the professional. You can tell his employees hold him with high regard and so do his patients. Dr. DiMattia is personable and most importantly honest. You're never talked into unnecessary xrays, this that or anything else. Dr. DiMattia is incredibly fair on the prices he charges too. In this day and age when a good dentist is hard to find and many people fall victim to gentle dental or other national chains it's nice to know that Dr. DiMattia takes the Hippocratic oath to heart.

I'll be the first to admit that going to the dentist can be a scary experience. Not surprisingly, I…read morealso had pretty bad teeth for years due to this fear. I first starting going to Dr. Kennedy after I had a tooth crack, as I didn't have a regular dentist to go to. He was able to see me the next morning, and didn't even charge me for an "emergency visit" even though it definitely qualified. He was more concerned with my teeth then how much money he'd be making off of me. Dr. Kennedy and his team understood how nervous I was, and were very gentle throughout the whole process. Their skill and professionalism came through at every turn. I immediately scheduled more appointments with him to work on the rest of my mouth. Now, here we are 2-3 years later, and my mouth is completely cavity-free. My teeth have never looked better, and I'm now pursuing braces through them. I recommend Dr. Kennedy to everyone I know, and will continue to do so. He is great at what he does, and his team feel more like friends than staff at this point. Special shout-out to Ruth for always being awesome!

My regular dentist retired and for quite a while, I searched for a new dentist who I could trust to…read moredo some work on my teeth such as a crown, implant etc. Since I did not have insurance, I called before making an appointment to inquire as to the cost of x-rays and explain what I expected from the visit; x-rays and a consultation for all that is needed. No cleaning. I was quoted a price. On the day of the appointment I did not get a chance to see the dentist before the x-ray technician. She came into the room introduced herself and proceeded to set me up for the x-rays. I am a senior citizen and have had many x-rays. None have ever hurt before. Uncomfortable on occasion but, never real pain. I am not sensitive to pain and I usually have teeth filled without the Novocain. This was the worst experience in a dentist office of my life. I don't know what she was doing wrong but, it was evident that something wasn't right. She was hurting me so that I had to push her hand away a couple of times. Each time she pushed it aside and tried again. She tried several times and each time it hurt more. No apologies, just a statement saying she had to get it done. After the x-rays, the doctor came in and did an exam. He hurt me with every single tooth he touched. I have never ever had that happen in the past. I still don't understand why he hurt me. Neither my mouth nor my teeth have been or are sensitive but, they were sore for a couple of days after his exam. In the beginning of the appointment, I explained to Dr. Kennedy that I wanted to come back in after he looked over the x-rays and discuss options and recommendations. I did not commit to any work. At the front desk, I was shocked to find out the cost was more than 2X what I was originally quoted for the visit. I inquired about the difference and was told that was it. That's the charge for the visit. At a later date, I returned for the consultation and was ushered into the room and told to sit in the chair and the dental assistant started to put the bib on me and told me to sit back. I refused, telling her I was there for a consultation. She continued to try to push me back in the chair. She made me uncomfortable. Then doctor came in and briefly went over what he saw in the x-rays. He said I should start with a particular tooth "because it is going to blow any minute". I refused and told him I wasn't there to get work done only to review my options and make a decision what to do first. I expected to get a list of the needed work with pricing and any options (this is what I asked for) that may be available to me, if any. He was not happy and definitely expressed his displeasure. He did not have the price of any individual item. He said he would have to put that together for me. This what I asked for at the start. He didn't even seem willing to give me a price for the work he wanted to do on this day. After requesting a copy of my x-rays and his recommendations with pricing, I left. He said he would have to mail it to me. I wanted an itemized list of his recommendations and my options. I did not get it. I had asked for this at the first appointment and he did not have it ready for me on the second visit. He just assumed, wrongly, that I would just go with what he recommended. This experience in Dr. Robert Kennedy's office was the worst ever for me. He shamelessly tried to upsell everything that was needed. This is a doctor, in my opinion, interested in only one thing; making money. Listening to his patients is not in his own best interests. He ignored my initial request for information. I would give him less than one star if I could. I felt I could not trust this dentist to listen to me.
