I have been a patient of Dr. Maya Bledsoe for over 6 years. My husband and I credit her for bringing our beautiful son into our lives five years ago. Today I write happily pregnant with my second child at age 39. Dr. Bledsoe's medical approach is expert, professional and above all kind.
Dr. Bledsoe is one of a handful of Board Certified Fertility Endocrinologists in the state of Texas. Her expertise is derived from her academic training, experience and track record of success. I began seeing her when I had trouble conceiving my first child. I was frustrated and tired of the run of the mill medical advice that was getting me nowhere.
During my first visit, Dr. Bledsoe spent a significant amount of time discussing my medical history and ordered very nuanced diagnostic tests. I know this because I had experienced years of being primed and prodded by many OBGYNs working from the same playbook. To clearly identify the root cause of my infertility, Dr. Bledsoe did not limit her analysis to only me; she also worked diligently to assess my husband's medical state. Along the way, her treatment was informed by the latest medical research (which she was quick to refer us to in case we wanted to do some reading on our own), and rich data she collected from our ongoing visits to her office. With every single visit to Dr. Bledsoe, I knew I was closer and closer to achieving my dream. I could feel her working to decipher the puzzle that would allow us to get pregnant. Her care was thoughtful, methodical and data-driven. Most importantly, it was successful.
Dr. Bledsoe is the epitome of professionalism. I specially admire how sensitive she is to the needs of her patients. When my husband and I wanted to conceive for the second time, without question we chose Dr. Bledsoe again -despite the fact that we lived more than 300 miles away. At my request, Dr. Bledsoe would expedite her consult if I needed to catch flight, or conversely spend the time with me so that I understood and was comfortable with her line treatment. When I could not come in to see her, she worked with my local Dr to run the necessary tests so she could monitor my condition from afar. When I called panicked because my progesterone levels unexpectedly dropped, she worked with me to ensure I got the proper care, despite being on vacation. I deeply appreciate her willingness to adjust to my needs.
And Dr. Bledsoe is kind. This kindness sets the tone for the way her entire team operates. I comment on this because unfortunately this level of consideration is rare. More often than not medical professionals treat patients as one of thousands of cases that shuffle through their office. You are a non-entity and the care is largely mechanical. This is not the case for Dr. Bledsoe and her team (Kaylee and Olga in particular). Inevitably I would find myself forgetting instructions, and or needing prescription refills at the last minute. Dr. Bledsoe's team would patiently answer my questions, reviewing information in detail, and would go out of their way to make sure I had what I needed. They also provided comfort whenever I would call with inane, and self-inflicted anxiety caused by too much Internet reading. They were calm, reassuring and helpful. Never once have I been worried about calling Dr. Bledsoe's office for fear of being branded a stereotypical crazy woman. Each interaction has left me feeling full of hope for the best.
This is the first time I ever publicly endorse a medical professional, but I felt compelled to do so because I know there are thousands of women trying to get what I have...beautiful children. I believe in paying it forward and I want to spread the word about Dr. Bledsoe's amazing work in the hopes that other women benefit in the same way I have.
Sincerely,
An Incredibly Grateful Mother of Two
