Note: This woman is an endocrinologist. I would prefer to give this woman zero stars. I guess having 57 degrees/diplomas/certificates plastered on your walls doesn't mean any one of them is for learning a decent bedside manner and some tact, or even that you're a very good doctor at that. I was diagnosed with Grave's disease by my stellar PCP Dr. Kravitz, my case was severe enough that he got me in with Dr. Bledsoe ASAP. I did not realize I was going to have to have my thyroid removed, when Dr. Bledsoe informed me I was upset and started to cry. She brusquely stated that once my thryoid was gone I would "be able to handle bad news better." I could not believe my ears. Things just went downhill from there. On one appointment after my thyroidectomy, after I had been on the hormone replacement for a month, Dr. Bledsoe actually held up the lab diagnostics report and squealed that my levels were great but did not bother to explain to me what each thing meant, what normal levels are, etc. She then quickly blew off my questions about not feeling that great mentally and physically, literally told me to "talk to my PCP because she could not help me" and ushered me out the door as fast as she could. Oh, and her nurses are incompetent. I had different nurses calling me and telling me different things after I would have blood work done and in one instance the nurse didn't even bother to note on my chart the things she said; the following day a different nurse called with different information and seemed confused by the fact that a nurse had already spoken to me the day before. I've called the nurses with questions, they've said they will ask the doctor and then I never heard back from them. To cut this short, Maya Bledsoe seems more interested in choosing her outfit for the day then helping her patients. I could never get an appointment after 10:00 am and I can only assume this is probably because every day is a half day for Dr. Bledsoe, she just seems that type. I would not recommend her to my worst enemy or anyone for that matter. read more

I went to see her as a referral from a primary doctor, she was very rude and asked why I was there since she doesn't prescribe the natural hormone I use. She did nothing for me during the appointment except order labs, because I was already there and charged me $187 that's minus the amount my insurance charged For absolutely nothing. I wish I could give her a zero, this happened about 7 years ago and the anger just boiled back up after I saw someone recommend her. She has horrible HORRIBLE bed side manner. Doesn't give a crud about how you are feeling just wants to drug you up and kick you out of the door as soon as possible. I was 17 and had just had a terrifying ER visit where they referred me to her for possible thyroid disease. So in I went with my dad and after waiting for an hour I was seen........for 5 minutes. She felt my neck for my thyroid, gave me a prescription then left. That was it. No big deal. It was the following appointments that sealed the deal for me. 2nd visit: There had been no real change in my symptoms and she decided it was my fault. I wasn't trying hard enough. I need to stop eating, she only eats blahblahblah calories a day. You don't say that kind of crap to a kid, you just don't. My mom was with me that time and she just looked completely blindsided by how she was treating me. Couldn't really say anything about it, she pretty much bolted out the door. 3rd and last visit: Dad came with me that time because mom didn't want anything to do with her at this point. I had lost about 5-10 pounds at this point which I thought was great, She thought I was lazy and not trying hard enough again. I told her how I was having some serious depression issues, which should be a red flag in a teenager but, nope, that was none of her concern. She made me feel like I was crazy for being upset that she refused to do anything to actually help me figure out this disease. I ended up leaving her office and begged my dad to never, NEVER take me back there I wanted nothing to do with her. Turns out that the reason I wasn't getting better is that she prescribed me such a low dose that it wasn't doing really anything for my levels. I kept getting blood tests so it should have been obvious. Knowing how she works, she probably didn't even look at the charts. It'd take too much time to do that. Moral of the story. Don't do it. She's not worth your time, or money. read more

I see Dr. Bledsoe for infertility treatments. She has made an emotionally charged time in my life as bearable as possible. We've undergone several IUI's with her and while I am not yet pregnant I feel cared for, listened to, and respected as a patient and a person. She remembers me and my husband, takes time to address any concerns we have at each visit, and gives it to us straight when we ask what our chances are for each treatment round. She presents all the facts and then lets you decide which way you want to go with things (within reason of course). I always know what the next course of action will be or what the next options are and I really appreciate her bedside manner. And I have to give a shoutout to her sainted nurse, Courtney, who deals with my insurance company. How she manages to talk to them so often and not go ape shit on them for their ridiculous policies is beyond me. LITERALLY THE WORST DOCTOR I HAVE DEALT WITH IN MY LIFE. When I checked this review site several years ago (sadly, just after leaving Dr. Bledsoe's care) she literally had 27 negative reviews out of 31. Since a number of those reviews have been cleared with time, I would like to add my voice. Dr. Bledsoe is an unpleasant person, a questionable doctor, and runs the worst type of patient mill. Every appt I had with her for 1.5 years involved waiting 45-60 minutes just to be seen with the actually appt running 3-5 minutes. She would scowl with impatience if I had the gall to ask any question that hampered her rapid escape from the room and only give brief, terse answers. I came to Dr. Bledsoe with a very advanced case of Grave's Disease (a type of hyperthyroidism). Despite claiming to me to be a thyroid expert (her specialty is actually fertility NOT thyroid, she is qualified to handle basic thyroid but not a complex case like mine) she was unable to handle my case. Further, she became increasingly hostile towards *me* each visit as my thyroid was not responding to treatment as she expected, as if this represented something willful on my part (all while I was literally dropping with illness). In all actuality, the fault lay with her for misrepresenting herself as a thyroid specialist when she was in no way (emotionally or medically) qualified to treat my complex and advanced case. Additionally, on top of the already very severe thyroid issues, I became desperately ill while being treated by her. Because of the timing, I assumed it was part of the thyroid illness and told her about it. She first reacted with hostility as if it was all a cheap sham to get a work excuse, and when I persisted over several visits, she declared that there was absolutely no medical reason for me to feel as bad as I did and that I needed to see a psychiatrist! uh, how about actually exploring the medical situation before deciding that I must be crazy or depressed (and I decidedly was neither, though having a doctor I was turning to in severe illness blowing me off was a pretty major emotional blow), first? In the end, the additional health problem turned out to be the very well known neurological side effects of a medication I was (inadvisably, I now know) on to treat the side effects of the thyroid disease. Even if she had somehow never heard of their potential for severe side effects, the medically appropriate thing to do would have been to at least examine the medical situation instead of dismissively sending me off to a psychiatrist because my health problems must all be in my head. So, to wrap up: highly unpleasant, total patient mill, doesn't appreciate questions, not a great doctor, and wanted to send me to a psychiatrist when she couldn't figure out why I was feeling sicker than she thought I should. AVOID AT ALL COSTS- YOU CAN DO BETTER WITH ALMOST ANYONE ELSE!!! read more

I decided to see Dr. Bledsoe last year because my husband and I are having trouble getting pregnant. My OBGYN recommended her to me because I have an abnormally thin uterine lining. My husband also suffers from low testosterone so we were told that she could treat us both simultaneously. One of my side effects of the thin uterine lining is a lack of a menstrual cycle. Bledsoe said the only thing I can do to "fix" my problem was to go on birth control! I explained to her that I felt like it was counter intuitive since birth control would make it extremely hard to become pregnant and she would not offer any other alternative for me. She saw me for 5 min (for each visit) maximum and would not stay any longer to answer my questions. I left both appointments in tears and she acted as if I were being irrational for being upset. She told me I could always adopt! My husband experienced similar issues with feeling dismissed by her. His visit lasted maybe 5 minutes. My husband has a growth on his pituitary gland that causes his body to not produce testosterone. He has been taking steroid injections to have normal testosterone levels. Instead of offering some sort of testosterone replacement therapy (since steroids kill sperm) she insisted on bone density tests! My husband is young and has never even broken a bone! My husband has since seen another endocrinologist who is helping him with TRT. My husband saw Bledsoe one year ago and her nurse just called us last week to tell him "HE MAY have low testosterone." YOU THINK?? We obviously already knew that! Thanks for telling us a year after our appointment. PLEASE do not see Maya Bledsoe! You are on HER time, not yours. She will not be available for questions and she does not take the time to listen to your situation. You are just a chart to her. read more

I saw Dr. Bledsoe a number of years ago for an issue. I was kind of shocked by her big pharma. approach...i.e. dose me up to get rid of my problems. It's funny because after a sample dose or maybe just naturally my symptoms cleared up and never came back again. She also didn't explain much about what was going on, and I still have a big question mark in my head about the whole experience. Recently, I was having some different issues and out of fear ran back to her to try to figure out what was going on. Again, I was just shocked at her approach...lots of testing and then a call to drugs. No real explanation of what was going on with me. When I asked her if there was any natural cures to what was happening, she said, I'm an an MD, and I just know how to prescribe medicine. Okay, I understand that is her training, but I just think you can at least be open to less invasive treatments or know about them? At first she seemed pleased that I was interested in what tests she was doing and paying attention, but then she sort of treated me with contempt by the end of the appointment. Her nurse was supposed to get back to me about something and never did. I've made an appointment with someone else to try to figure out what is going on and not with one of "her" other doctors as she recommended. On the other hand, even though I didn't see her for this, she does have tons of happy moms and dads and babies on her wall that she apparently helped enlarge their family. She only treat thyroid patuents, not any other endocrinological disorders. She will take appointments, on the day of appointment the nurse will take you in, she will take a picture of you and then tell you that she does not treat anything other than thyroids. Then she will refer you to a specialist and be done with you. She does not treat diabetes or any hormonal issues. But she will definitely order a thyroid lab test for because she hopes that it comes back abnormal and she can hook you up for treatment then. Stay away from this place! read more

Personally, I don't believe all the bad reviews on this yelp site. I was referred to Dr Bledsoe through another doctor in 2009. Every single time I have been, I've been cordially invited into the office, I never wait more than 10 minutes, my visits are thorough, intensive, personal, friendly, engaging, and I leave not frustrated, smiling, ready to continue to conquer my thyroid (I have for the last 20 years). Hands down the best DOCTOR I've actually had in a comprehensive way. I am surprised at the reviews on here, I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Bledose and the staff at Austin Regional Clinic. I saw Dr. Bledsoe for infertility treatment, I was diagnosed with PCOS. And after everything I had read online, I was thrilled when she didn't try to put me straight on metformin or other insulin medication. (PCOS is related to insulin.) In fact I never touched or even discussed insulin medication with her or my other doctors. Dr. Bledsoe put me very in charge of my fertility and let me choose what steps I wanted to take, and when to take them based on how ready I felt. I was never pressured into any treatment. I worked with Dr. Bledsoe from February 2013 to November 2013 when I became pregnant (yay!) and every appointment she was kind, caring, and explained every level of diagnostic and bloodwork to me. She answered my million questions, her staff was amazing and fought with my insurance numerous times to get me the fertility medication I needed. Christine in her office is fantastic, and these ladies treat you like you are the only patient they have. I never felt shoved aside or like I was one of many patients. Dr. Bledsoe outlined everything for me right up front, what the different fertility treatments looked like and how IVF would be the last step, and hopefully we wouldn't need to go there (and we didn't.) Dr. Bledose is knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and if you're seeing her for infertility, you can see from her waiting rooms (all the pictures of babies from happy parents) that she is successful. I am so glad that I got Dr. Bledsoe for my endocrinologist to treat my fertility issues. She was phenomenal, always made me feel comfortable with every step of treatment, didn't over prescribe things to me, and got the job done - I got pregnant! Once I was pregnant, she was thorough in checking all my levels until I cleared the first trimester, which truly put me at ease. I am baffled at the 1 star reviews! I have had Addison's disease and hypothyroidism for over 8 years now. In that time, I have seen sooo many endocrinologists. I've had some that are just so incompetent and have no idea how to treat me. I've had some that don't trust me to know my own body. Dr Bledsoe is the opposite of these doctors. She knows enough about my diseases to where I feel comfortable and trusts me to know my own body. She doesn't make me feel stupid or like I'm some idiot who thinks they are a doctor because they know their own body. Some of the reviews say she rushes and has bad bed side manner, however every time I've seen her I feel it is the absolute opposite. She listens and is thorough. I get my blood work and information on any updates through the ARC My chart app. On the app, she writes any updates and why I need them. She also sends me messages when I don't have any updates just to let me know my blood work is fine. I also get these bars of what is a normal level and what my levels are so I can understand. She has also told me I can message her on that app and she will respond however I haven't needed to because her information is so thorough. I absolutely love her and I feel safe in her care. I am pregnant however I am not seeing her for any fertility reasons. She has been very supportive and cautious because it is a high risk pregnancy due to my auto immune issues. I wouldn't be writing a 5 star review if I didn't feel she absolutely deserved it. I feel sometimes when people are going through tough situations they see the bad instead of the good. I initially posted a negative review because it was hard to find the Seton Northwest office, and I missed the appointment with Dr. Bledsoe I'd been anticipating for some months. I had been told it would be four months before I could expect a rescheduled date. Since then, ARC has contacted me to schedule an earlier appointment, and I greatly appreciate it. I just wish the assistance had been easier to come by, and not as a result of my leaving a neg. Dr Bledsoe is great! I see why she is in SUCH high demand! I went to Dr Bledsoe for chronic hypo-thyroid. I have been on and off medication since I was 16. In all those years, I know where I need to be in order to feel normal. Dr Bledsoe subscribes to the "Treat the patient, not the number" philosophy. Meeting with Dr Bledsoe was pretty good. I felt like she listened to me regarding my basic thyroid problems. It just felt like there was a disconnect when I was talking with her. I did have major issues, they kept loosing my records, so even though I have been on thyroid meds for 20yrs+ I could never get an appt. When I did get an appointment, they 'lost' it. they were able to squeeze me in and I had to wait quite a bit. they seem to have MAJOR issues when it comes to scheduling. read more

Dr. Bledsoe has been a really great and incredible doctor. I was initially referred to her after my primary care physician found repeat blood tests revealing a high level of blood calcium (hypercalcemia), leading him to believe that I had hyperparathyroidism. Unsure of whether I had primary or secondary hyperparathyroidism, and considering the rarity of someone my age (25) having this disease, I was very anxious and nervous about my appointment with Dr. Bledsoe. During my first appointment, Dr. Bledsoe was very calm, efficient, and focused on helping me to quickly figure out what was going on. I can see how some would interpret her efficiency as a disconnect, but that is not by any means true. She made sure that I was on the same page as her in regards to my course of treatment, often reading back her notes to me to confirm that what she had down was correct, and also addressed any questions or concerns that I had. As soon as my lab results came in, she made notes and comments (via the MyChart phone app) so I knew not to worry and so I could better understand what was going on with my body. These tests supported her thoughts that I had primary hyperparathyroidism, and she explained what my continued course of treatment would look like, including a referral to an excellent thyroid/parathyroid surgeon. Even after speaking with the surgeon, I still wanted to follow up with Dr. Bledsoe -- she was completely understanding and helped me to clarify what my treatment would look like following surgery. Even after some additional lab work to double check my blood calcium levels, she responded promptly and encouraged me to reach out to her if I began to feel worse before my surgery. If you're looking for an efficient, caring, thoughtful, and experienced endocrinologist - Dr. Bledsoe is amazing. Book your appointment with her, if you're able to. read more

Excellent/informative doctor! No waiting time and the lab was just down the hall where I had to have work done. Dr. Bledsoe was very pleasant and got to the root of my health issues quickly. These negative reviews must be from people who are used to having someone hold their hand and listen to their on going personal problems. Dr. Bledsoe is amazing. She knows her stuff no doubt and has transformed my life because she fixed my problems. She took the time to evaluate and truly diagnose the issue. She is so good at what she does and she was right on the money about my PCOS. I listened to her and followed her instructions and it made such a difference. I see other comments on here about her rushing through her appointments. I couldn't disagree more, I think she is so efficient that she doesn't need extra time. I praise her for not making me take more time off than absolutely necessary to do her job and to take care of me. I prefer that she gets done faster and I'm happy as long as she does what she promises - which she has for me. If you've been to a specialist doctor in the past, compared to your general doctor they spend on average less time with you, that is because they are so focused on the specfic problem and are experts in that area so it doesn't necessarily require the same amount of time. I was very very nervous when seeing this doc for the first time on Monday because of all of the reviews that are on here. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer 2 weeks ago and since my life has been a whirlwind of docs, meds etc. Boy I'm glad I went to her. She did none of the things people on here described. She spent over 30 minutes talking to me and answering and explaining all of my questions and concerns. She sat down the entire time, making eye contact, being cordial and kind. She is being super proactive in my treatment and I feel confident wither her advise and direction. Her office is clean and comfortable, the waiting room Is seperate from the rest of ARC and this nice and quiet and her staff was amazing. I would recommend her to family and friends. I'm not sure where she's gotten such a rotten rep but for me it was no where like how she was. I trust her with the rest of my care. read more

I love Dr. Bledsoe. I've never had a more caring physician. She is patient and kind. She works with me and encourages me to ask as many questions as I need. She takes the time to explain things from both a scientific perspective as well as "in English". She knows my kids names & calls to check on me when she knows I'm not feeling well. She goes the extra mile to make sure I'm happy, healthy and reminds me to take my vitamins! I wish there were more doctors in my life like Dr. Bledsoe. I have been a patient with Dr. Bledsoe for a couple of years now. I was previously seeing Dr. Scumpia and I felt like it was a cattle call practice she ran so making the change to Dr. Bledsoe was the best decision I have made. Dr. Bledsoe tells me what I need to know and keeps my thyroid levels where they need to be. She writes down everything she recommends and when I need to come back to see her just incase I forget. I love that about her. Also,the nurses that answer the phone when I have questions are always helpful and if they need to call me back they call back that same day. I have never had any issues with Dr. Bledsoe or any of the staff. I guess I am not seeing the side of her that everyone else on here has seen and honestly I have not gotten the impression that she has terrible bedside manners. I saw Dr. Bledsoe for the first time at the end of August. I actually showed up at the wrong time and her office staff was extremely helpful and professional and she agreed to see me on the spot (which was not expected). I am a no-nonsense type of person, so Dr. Beldsoe's personality and bedside manner was very much appreciated. She walked me through the tests she would run in order to figure out what was happening with me and got everything set for the next month or so. She also gave me a lot of information to read at home, which I very much appreciate, as most doctors don't give you this much direction, especially on the first visit. I'm really not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from in regards to her bedside manner, but (based upon my initial visit and follow up from her staff) if you're looking for a doctor who will give you the facts and help you find an answer quickly, I would definitely recommend her! I've seen Dr. Maya Bledsoe for the past 9 years after having a terrible experience with another doctor in town. Dr. Bledsoe runs a tight ship and I rarely have to wait more than 10 minutes to see her. She is always profession and caring and takes the time to answer any of my questions and help me out. As for other raters on this yelp page, usually only mad people post on yelp. I've always gotten late afternoon appointments with her, she has always talked through any new things I'd like to try and if asked - she has always reviewed in depth what my blood results show - but I trust her after 9 years to know that when things are good - they are good. It has taken me a while to write this review, but want to be sure to let others know about my experience. I saw Dr. Bledsoe for infertility issues - she may be great for other conditions, but was not for this. She clearly has pretty limited knowledge of fertility issues - doesn't really listen and I'm guessing follows the same course of treatment for each patient. After 5 failed IUIs and running through all my $3500 in fertility medical benefits - I went elsewhere. After 10 minutes with a really good doctor at the Texas Fertility Center (Dr. Silverberg), he diagnosed that I had endometriosis and probably ovarian cysts - tests confirmed he was correct. Despite having the exact same information, Bledsoe never suggested these possibilities. She just kept sending me for blood work and couldn't understand the problem. I now have a wonderful 2.5 year old thanks to seeking care elsewhere. Save yourself the time and money, and go to a legitimate fertility doctor. read more

I recently started seeing Dr. Bledsoe for Hashimoto's autoimmune disease after being diagnosed earlier this year. I'd felt miserable for so long, suffered multiple miscarriages in the past 6 months, nothing was helping (diet changes, supplements, etc.) and just knew I needed to get better. I got pregnant (again) and Dr. Bledsoe got me in right away. That was Sign #1 that she cared. I'll admit that I had read mixed reviews and was nervous about what her bedside manner would be like. You guys.... she was amazing. She was an absolute DELIGHT from the moment she walked in the room. I had no wait time, she listened to my entire story, reviewed each symptom, and (almost most importantly to me) was extremely sympathetic towards my symptoms and recent losses. When first switching medications, I contacted the nurse about possibly changing my dosage and Dr. Bledsoe herself reached out to me via email, sympathizing with my symptoms and offering me a solution! I was so surprised to hear back from the busy doctor herself. That is a rarity these days, I know. She's monitoring my thyroid levels closely throughout my (high risk) pregnancy and, for the first time in three pregnancies, I am going to make it through my first trimester. I could go on and on, but the point is... if you have issues that Dr. Bledsoe specializes in, make the time - right now - to take care of you, put your health first, and schedule an appointment with her today. I am soooo glad I finally read these reviews of Dr. Bledsoe. Now I don't feel so crazy, which she actually told me I was. She came so highly recommended by my OBGYN that I was excited to get an appointment with her after being diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Of course, the first thing I did after my diagnosis was go to the internet and research it. I learned that it is VERY common and that treatment is VERY simple. I went to my first appointment thinking I would walk out with a couple of prescriptions, and that would be that. WRONG. She didn't take the time to ask anything about my symptoms, which are very troubling. She didn't take the time to explain anything to me except that this would be a long process with lots of labs and lots of ultrasounds. Then she directed me to the lab. I showed up at the lab with no idea what I was there for and the lab techs told me that I was supposed to come back in a week for labs. I was so upset after I left because she had told me things about IVF and IUI, which seem so counterintuitive to a non-medical person like myself. I was fully willing to admit that I didn't know what she was talking about, so I called her RN, Misty, the next day for clarification, as I was directed to in her info packet. She told me that I needed to choose to go IUI route or PCOS route--why in the world would I choose IUI if I have PCOS??? Her response--write that question down and ask it at your next appointment. I just left my second, and last, appointment with her. I went in with a list of questions about the treatment regiment and why we wouldn't just do the normal treatment protocol for PCOS. Her response, it's very expensive and you have to come in three times a month and what if you miss a time. What if I don't!?!?! Then, I started to explain my frustrations to her, which are primarily the side effects from the PCOS and not necessarily getting pregnant right away. She just looked at me like I was crazy and said that nothing could help with those. Of course, this upset me so i started crying. This is where she told me that none of her other patients ever cry in her office and I need to get into therapy. Not once did she say, I know this can be overwhelming or try to ease my concerns. She just gave me a pamphlet for a infertility therapist and left the room. Needless to say, I will not be going back to see her. She may know what she is doing or be a very smart doctor, but she has NO bedside manner or interest in making sure her patients are understanding what she is doing. I think I would prefer just a so-so doctor that made me feel like she cared than one that knows everything but doesn't care a bit about how I'm feeling. read more

What a relief! I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt completely jacked up about my appointment with Dr.Bledsoe. I just saw Dr.Bledsoe 1 time, and I have to say... I am not going back. Not ever. After my 1st appointment, I felt like some kind of idiot. Well, you just have PCOS what's the big deal? Um... it's a big freaking deal to ME. I'm sorry but it's NOT normal to me to not have a period.. especially when everything was going along fine until a year ago. And then she says, well, it's either your Androgen levels are too high, or your Adrenal system is out of whack. I then asked her if she thought I may be insulin resistant because I have gained 15 lbs in the last 4 months, the bulk of it in the last 2 months. She said no.. I'm still not technically overweight enough for it to be a problem. DUH! Not yet.. but the weight keeps creeping on and it WILL be a problem... can you not see that??? She also told me that I might just need to eat less, and that she only eats 800 calories/day. I'm sorry, but I am a Professional Personal Trainer. It's what I do for a living. I work out 5-6 days/week, and I know for a fact that less than 1200 calories/day will KILL your metabolism. I also brought old bloodwork which she barely looked at, I asked her about my levels on there, including elevated liver enzymes, she didn't seem to care, I asked her about my thyroid levels which were low, and she said they are still in the normal range so it's nothing to worry about. What about what's normal for ME? Just because it's in "normal" range, doesn't mean it's normal for ME. What about looking at MY medical history instead of thinking you know everything about everything? I mean, if you look at what's normal for most people, my bloodpressure is TOO LOW, my body temperature is TOO LOW, and my heart rate is TOO LOW... but they are normal for me. What happened to personalized medical care? Is it one-size fits all now??? I am so tired of being cattle called into doctors offices. After getting a call from the nurse, I found out my androgen levels are "normal." "So... what does that mean?" I asked. "They're normal." the nurse responded. "Yes, I know, but why do I have PCOS if my androgen levels are normal?" I asked. "I guess you'll just have to ask Dr.Bledsoe on your next appointment," the nurse replied. So helpful. Instead I made an appointment with a new doctor, recommended to me by a friend who sees her, and likes her a lot. I am not going to just float around hoping my PCOS clears up on its own. I am not going to waste my time talking to a physician who gives crappy advice, crappy instructions, is no help to anyone, and makes me feel like some kind of hypochondriac idiot. I appologize for the rant, but I AM MAD. My advice... go somewhere else. read more

I hate to give bad reviews, but in this case.. I"m a bit frustrated. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and have been seeing this doctor since late December. At the very very beginning, I specifically asked doctor bledsoe if I could do anything to lessen the side effects of hypothyroidism such as taking vitamins, eating certain foods, doing certain things... she shock her head and said, there's nothing you can do, but take the medicine I'm prescribing you. So with that info on hand, I went to the pharmacy and began to take the meds. For the following 3 months, I slowly mutated into a sleeping zombie. I gained weight and felt the worst I'd ever felt in my life. My husband began to get worried and started researching which vitamins I should be taking and found a few handfuls. He went and got me as many I as I could take.. Two weeks later, I was up and feeling better again. The following month of feeling better, I went to go see bledsoe and explained to her which vitamins I was taking and told her what had happened for the 3 months after my initial visit with her. She now told me to quit taking all those vitamins and to only take multivitamins. After blood work had been done, I was called by her nurse to let me know that I should have been taking vitamin D and to up my dosage since I had not been feeling well those 3 months.. Needless to say, this doctor confuses me and I'm currently searching for another. p.s... I haven't stopped my vitamins. They're the only thing has made me feel 100% better seeing being diagnosed. read more

I have been trying to get an appointment with this doctor for the past week, but I was informed that I could not be seen without a referral even though my insurance company doesn't require it. I'm so happy and consider myself lucky after reading all the horrible reviews. I've seen a few other endocrinologists in town and find them all to be the same - very uncaring about a disease that affects a person as a whole. How are they still able to run a practice and what happened to having good ethics? I'll have to continue my search. read more

In my opinion, Dr. Bledsoe is condescending and her tone passive aggressively rude.

I wish, wish, WISH I had trusted my gut when I first went to Dr. Bledsoe. I also wish I had read some reviews before going. At our first meeting, she informed me of some bad news, to which I reacted like any normal person would: I burst into tears and asked if I had any other options. She was not sympathetic to my reaction, told me I was over-reacting, handed me a box of Kleenex and WALKED OUT while I was still trying to bumble questions to her. I should have left and never come back. Throughout my 3 months of treatment with Dr. Bledsoe, she has never spent more than about 8 minutes in the room with me. She looks at the sheet of paper she has me fill out about how I'm feeling, and fills out a little piece of paper with my next lab appointments, and walks out the door. She has never sat with me to explain my disorder, she has only handed me a few short articles about it. All I know about my disorder is what research I have done on my own. Yesterday was the final straw. I am having an adverse reaction to the final medication Dr. Bledsoe put me on. And when I tried to talk to her about it, she completely discounted my personal experience and told me that I was not experiencing what I thought I was experiencing. She then got up and tried to leave. I started asking questions, and she stood there for close to 10 minutes with HER HAND ON THE DOOR and the door AJAR, impatiently telling me over and over again to go look at the website she had given me. She never answered my questions. Neither did the website, for that matter. All I want is a doctor who is willing to spend time with their patients and willing to explain to them what they are going to be experiencing. And then who is willing to listen to that patient. Dr. Bledsoe is NOT that kind of doctor. read more

Wow, after seeing so many bad reviews I felt like I had to write mine. I couldn't be more pleased with Dr. Bledsoe. I started seeing her in October of 2010. That year I received some lab results stating that I had high calcium. I gooled it and found out that I could have Hyperparathyroidism. I looked for a specialist and came accross her. We did additional labs and she confirmed I had hyperparathyroidism. She recommended surgery and I had it done that December. I had so many questions regarding my diagnosis and she was wonderful! She answered every one of them and she never rushed me. Mid 2011 we discovered that I actually have MEN1, a genetical disorder. That is what caused hyperparthyroidism. Again, she was very thourough and answered all of my questions. She referred me to MD Anderson in Houston and I began treatment there. After a few more surgeries I decided to take myself off my medication, for no real reason. I was just too lazy to take them. Dr. Bledsoe has me do routine labs every 3-4 months to monitor my condition. In my labs she noticed things were off with me. After consulting with her I explained I had taken myself off. She reminded me how important they are and told me that if I didn't take care of myself, this disorder could kill me. She then told me something that has forever changed me. She asked what were to happen to my son if I were to die because I was too lazy to take my meds, she knows I am a single mother. That made me realize that she does care for her patients. She has been absolutely wonderful. She's held my hand as I've cried, she told me to make lemonade with the lemons I was dealt with. She has been so supportive and patient with me as I continue to struggle with my disorder. She is also great at communicating any issues that come up with my MD Anderson doctors. My MD Anderson doctors also know her and speak very highly of her. I feel that I have a great medical team helping me get though this, and it all started with Dr. Bledsoe! read more

My ob/gyn recommended I go to an Endocrinologist (I mistakenly chose Dr Bledsoe based on her creditials) because my PTH level was elevated and I have been treating osteoporosis for over ten years but it keeps getting worse. I brought my records from my ob/gyn with me and after showing them to Dr Bledsoe and telling her my problem, she told me I probably just have low vitamin D. After telling her I take vitamin D supplements, calcium and a multiple vitamin, she said I probably need prescription strength D. She did not seem interested in really getting to the core of my problem, quickly checking me over and barely looking at my records. After pressing her, she ordered a urine and a blood test and sent me on my way. A few days later, her nurse called and said that my vitamin D level was fine and that I should come back in a year. I told her that I would like the Dr. to call me..that I felt she was "brushing me off". The nurse called back and said the doctor needed to see me ..she doesn't do phone calls, so I went in a couple of days later. By that time, my urine test had come back and the calcium level was extremely elevated which confirmed HPTH. I asked her what the next step was as I knew from checking the Internet that the only cure for HPTH is removing the affected parathyriod gland. She said I MIGHT want to CONSIDER consulting a general surgeon or an ENT so I asked her for some recommendations. She verbally gave me a few names while writing her notes with her back to me. After checking them out, I elected to find my own surgeon. I had the surgery last week and my surgeon restored my faith in doctors; I would highly recommend her, Dr Richards. There are lots of good doctors out there, don't waste your time and money on Dr. Bledsoe. read more

I almost never write reviews for anything online. Mostly because reviews are either written by people that are mad or have an axe to grind or by review shops. And just like a review shop that is paid to write good reviews. A single person can post several bad reviews, have their friends post reviews and so on. Basically you can't trust a thing you read. This time I felt I should say something. Dr. Bledsoe is very thorough, very very thorough. For Low T she does a blood panel every 3 months. Seems like a bit too much but Testosterone is a dangerous performance enhancing drug with possible bad side affects. Because of this we knew right away when a blood test popped something abnormal and the result was heading something potentially life threatening off at the passs. If you are concerned you for your health or that you may die, then she is a good Endo to see. She doesn't take chances and covers all the bases. I'll admit I don't like having to do extra tests and see other doctors to cover test results that are off in another area. But at the same time, life is precious and those extra things could catch something big. She is pleasant enough as far as I'm concerned. I have had multiple visits and I have never waited more than 20 minutes. But I know that for the best service get your appointment as early as possible. All it takes is 1 or 2 patients running late, which is rampant in Austin, for the doctor to be 30 minutes behind. Oh yeah and if you hate waiting now, just hang on to your hats once Obamacare is fully implemented. Anyway I diverge. Additionally Dr Bledsoe and the nurse seem to spend plenty of time. Usually Dr Bledsoe seems to kind of hang on a bit just to make sure I have a chance to say the last word. I'm 43, soon to be and have Low-T. It didn't take them a year to call me to tell me either, but guess what I am concerned enough about my own health that I call back when I think there has been enough time, say a week. I personally prefer doctors be straight with me even if it hurts a little. If you don't understand the tests results, forget asking her, hell any doctor for that matter. Most of them don't have time to explain results that may have taken them a semester of med-school or an advanced biology class to understand. Get a copy of the results, go home and use the thing you just used to write your bad reviews to look it up. It's called "GOOGLE" and taking charge of your own medical choices. Contrary to many many people's beliefs, doctors do not know everything. If they did, no one would ever be sick, cancer would have been cured 100 years ago and so on. Most of them specialize in specific areas for a reason. Because it is more beneficial to the patient. This means they do not and will not know things like all the interactions of medications you are on from another doctor are going to affect you. If anyone can tell you this information it isn't even at the doctor, it's the PHARMACY. You can also "GOOGLE" the drugs, and OMG you would not believe the information on this thing called the Internet about drugs and drug interactions. I wonder how many of the reviewers on here have even ever read all the drug interactions and warnings for the medication you take? Listening to the warnings on a commercial doesn't count. Also, I saw Monica R stated a relatively young guy was told to get a bone density test before Testosterone therapy. And Monica R couldn't believe that, she thought it was stupid. Again more uninformed people. I'm not even sure adopting is a good idea in her case. I'm going to guess they or she or he didn't even bother to question this or maybe look up the side-affects of testosterone therapy. I for one looked up the side affects before I ever asked for replacement therapy. Testosterone is a steroid used illegally as a performance enhancing drug, guess what those can have bad bad side affects. One of the bad side affects of T therapy is BONE LOSS. The bone density test to start with isn't to see if you already have bone loss, it's to get a baseline so that future bone density tests will allow Dr Bledsoe to see if the T therapy is hurting your bones. What it seems to me is that everyone on here complaining is forgetting YOU are paying her. It's no different than paying a mechanic, she just happens to work on your body's endo system. If you are paying you have the right to stand up and say, whoa, just a minute, you are replacing the windshield wiper when I came in because the tire is wobbling? Not a great parallel story but you get it. Ask questions, call back and ask questions, use that thing called "GOOGLE". Doctors just don't have the time to explain the details of every test result number to you. If they did, they'd see 1/2 the patients and charge 2x. If they say it's good, it's good, then move on. If it is bad, ask questions. If you want to know more get a copy and google it. read more

Dr. Bledsoe is kind, caring and friendly. I can see where people think she is abrupt but she has many patients to see. She is helping lots of people and like someone said, we are paying her to help us. Learn to have patience, getting pregnant takes time.She does answer my questions if I have any. My wife and I are in the process of getting our 3rd IUI this month. If it doesn't take, Dr. Bledsoe wants to try a different approach next month which makes me happy that she is not giving up hope. She has gotten my wife pregnant and I know she can get me pregnant too, it'll just take some time. read more
