The store is not large so we located the section we needed right away. However, we still couldn't find or determine if the item we were looking at was right for us (again, no one ever asked us if we needed help) and eventually landed on a garden flag stand. We had been to several stores previously for weeks and like to buy local instead of online when we can. This was the first store we found that had substantially stronger garden flag stakes. This whole time, there was a man working that kept his eyes on me and my partner but especially me, scowling. I just ignored it as RBF cause he was an older man, and I had done nothing but smile and greet him when we came in. I could feel him staring at me several times while we were shopping. Every time, I just smiled and he'd look away. We decided to look around the store after deliberating alone for about twenty minutes to see if maybe we could get other gifts for people and bought a few other items. Note, there were two older women working and the older man. When we got to the store, there may have been only 1 other person in there. A small family had also come in at one point but left before we did. Otherwise, the store was entirely empty. At checkout, there were two areas to check out of at the counter. We were still meandering when I came up to one side to look at the stickers. He alerted us that check out was on the other side. He checked us out and I realized he had bagged our items, but we had brought our own bag. When I mentioned this, my partner was like, "Oh yeah! We have our own, we don't need one but thank you." I added in, "Yes save it for another transaction." This man, scowled and stared me down for a solid 15-20 seconds--he literally kept his head facing me, locking his eyes on mine as he put the bag back in the rack behind him. It was so awkward and uncomfortable and honestly rude. I just smiled bigger at him politely, but widened by eyes to make it clear that I DID see him rudely staring at me for refusing a bag. He finally relented, greeted us goodbye. The other female worker had just come back up to the checkout platform as well as we walked out and thanked us with a goodbye as well. It was a very odd shopping experience. The store is very quaint and woodsy. Items are priced to match inflation. They have a variety of things not just for ornithology enthusiasts. The garden flag stand was the best we could find in the area and is very sturdy. I had contemplated coming back to get a bird bath, but I'll try elsewhere cause of the weird interaction.

They not only took good care of our two cats, they fed and watered them, watered the plants and took in the mail. They like animals and our cats received daily socialization in our home during our absence. Even though it had been a while since we used their service, Jayne remembered us and was pleased to accept our return visit. She came over before our trip to get the keys and to meet our newest cat. The other cat had passed since we last used their service. Jayne was also able to become acquainted with Miss Pooh. Jayne and Larry are great, Larry fed Mr. Bub cat treats and made an instant friend for life. We most recently used Fidos & Felines this past week and just arrived home early this morning to find our mail neatly stacked ready to read, a nice note from Jayne and Larry telling us about their week with our cats. Jayne texted us during our vacation to give us updates on the cats and we were welcome to do the same, if we wanted information about our fur babies. What I most appreciated was the peace of mind knowing that my cats were in good hands, being fed, having their boxes scooped and that someone was keeping an eye on the home front. I totally trust Jayne and Larry and would recommend Fidos & Felines to anyone looking for pet care in their own home in the Lee's Summit area.

THIS REVIEW IS ONLY BASED ON THE STORE FRONT AND NOT THE PUPPY SIDE!!!!…read moreI'll address the downfall first, which can be seen in the reviews below. I do not like that they have puppies in tiny cages in the back. Yes I agree you should adopt and not shop, but that doesn't change the front of the store, at least for me. As someone that likes the "finer" things in life for their fur babies, I appreciate this store. They have cute toys that are different than the ones you can find at a chain pet store. The food they sell is in line with the brands I like to feed my dogs and cats. It's not necessarily mainstream, and I am grateful that all the brands I trust are here, in one place. The staff came up to us several times checking on us and offering suggestions based on what we were looking at. I'm not insanity well educated in the world of dog food and treat, so it's nice to get someone opinion that knows! The layout is nice! At the front of the store, is a massive case of boutique dog cookies, my girls aren't fans, so I only looked and admired their cuteness. The center is the seasonal things, which are super cute and unique. The toys are off to the right, and then food right behind that. The puppies that are for sale are all the way in the back, so if you'd like to avoid and ignore you can, which I appreciate beyond words! Then on the left side of the store are all the home needs, kennels, beds, bowls, leashes, etc. Bottom line, if you're looking for something different in the way of your furry friend's needs, this should be your one stop shop! They have everything you could ever imagine!
