One star. Zero if possible. I contacted Max of Max Audio and Video Installers for a simple 32-inch TV mount on an interior bedroom wall with concrete block and drywall. I clearly explained what I wanted: a wall-mounted TV with recessed power and HDMI ports behind it, using black outlets and a black double-duplex wall plate. I also asked basic questions, like whether he provides the mounting hardware and what type of anchors he uses for concrete. He initially said this was no problem. However, when I specified I wanted black outlets, he became unhappy. He insisted on providing white and did not want to accommodate my request, even though black is readily available. At that point, he abruptly refused to do the job. This interaction left me with the clear impression that customers who know what they want and make simple, reasonable requests are not welcome. I would not want Max of Max Audio and Video Installers working in my home and cannot recommend this company. read more

I was coming down to spend Christmas with my mom. I was arriving on Christmas Eve. My mom had a single request for a gift to get her Bose CD player working. Our old 70"inch TV blew out. I am not good or experienced at choosing or installing today's technology. So, I looked on Yelp and found Max. After reading a bunch of reviews about him and his services, I knew he was the knowledgeable, patient entertainment tech expert consultant I needed. Max responded to my first query quickly and it was clear sailing from there. He listened to our needs, wants and budget. He asked alot of questions. He then did some research and recommended TV's, sound system, surge suppressors, etc. for our applications. I bought the items he suggested and Max came the next day to hook everthing up and even shift some equipment around. And, very importantly, teach me how to use it all. And for the next few days, Max was on the phone with me re-teaching me and explaining how to use everything again, and again. My head for learning tech is not great. But after a few days, Max had me able to do everything we want with the new systems. Even after the set-up, the amount of research Max did was incredible. What he doesn't know off the top of his head, he will find out the answer...because he truly cares! We now have an affordable 86'in. LG TV. It is stunning and yes, bigger does make everything better! Max recco'd Sonus Arc Sound system and WOW, he was right, it is quite amazing. Max recco'd an installer to do a couple of mounting jobs for us in a separate office space and one on our patio. He put so much time, care and effort into making our situation work out wonderfully(despite my poor aptitude in learning tech-ese). Not only did Max install our tv stereo in both tvs (living room and bedroom), but he adjusted it to our preference. We are both hard of hearing and he emphasized the voice feature and tuned any high amplification that might hurt my husband's ears. I find the sound now is so easy to listen to and even I didn't notice that it was bothering my ears, but not anymore. It sounds terrific! Then he corrected about 5 mistakes that the cable guy made with our sets when they installed the new boxes. (They always take the path of least resistance.) We didn't realize our HD wasn't clear but he fixed it, he adjusted the color, and the picture is magnificent. Max also said that they used the lowest form of hookup, and he changed it to the highest quality hookup which eventually resulted in us having less wires sticking out from the tv. I found Max on Yelp mainly trying to figure out if my TV could be saved. He responded right away to my inquiry. We set up a conference call and he determined my TV had damage from a surge, even with it plugged into a surge protector. He suggested replacements based on my needs and budget which was so helpful with so many different types of TVs out there today. I was ready to purchase one he suggested when an employee at the store suggested I check out another TV, same price, just more features. I contacted Max to install the system in our home theater room, and I'm glad I did. I have some background in the industry, selling and installing high end systems from 1986 to 1995. I soon realized that much has changed since then and I needed professional help. We had some preliminary discussions about the room and equipment and set up an appointment. Max and his helper arrived on time and after a brief discussion they got right to work. Since I had been in the industry before I developed a good bond with them and it was great to see the system come together. Max even recommended changing the location of the subwoofers to solve a problem in a way that I didn't even think of. The system is fairly complex with Dolby Atmos and 11 speakers plus 2 subwoofers. Amplification is 11 x 150 watts plus 2 subwoofers with 400 watts of clean power each. I should mention some things Max told be about that I hadn't thought of, which really added value to hiring him. Apple TV, Apple Music, Harmony Ultimate Home Universal Remote, and hooking up my turntable so I could play my vinyl collection. I would especially recommend that everyone have Max program the remote. Now everyone in the home can use the entire system. We used to have half a dozen remotes all over the place and now one remote does it all! The system installation required cutting into the walls and ceiling for speakers and wiring, as well as wall mounting the 70 inch TV. They kept the home clean with drop cloths for the dust, utilizing their small vacuum as they worked. There are no visible wires as they are all neatly bundled and hidden. They set up a microphone in the room in various locations to accurately set the sound levels for every speaker to achieve the best sound for my specific room. The final product is much better than we expected, producing chill bumps and as Max played his demo test discs we were both amazed. Within a month I called Max to clean up our downstairs system and add the universal remote to that room plus more speakers for the pool area and dining room. I normally don't write reviews but this is an exception. If you have a high end, mid range, lower tier, or no home entertainment system at all it doesn't matter, Max is your guy. I have a higher tier system ie: LG 77"C9 OLED, B&W 804's and 805's nautilus, 2 ASW 608 subs with a 3080a yamaha receiver as the base for the 5.2 surround sound system with audio quest cables. Long story short, Max gave me suggestions on which receiver I should run my OLED T.V and speakers through, which speaker cables to buy, remotes and even the AV cabinet I should purchase to house the equipment. Listen to what he says, believe me he knows what he's doing. The picture quality is pure liquid and bringing out my B&W speakers true potential is borderline ridiculous! I attribute this to Max's expertise. Plus he's a nice guy and he truly treats your home theater as if it's his own. What a great experience I had with the installation of my home theater system. Ronnie did an awesome job of wall mounting my screen and installing my Xfinity X1 DVR.
