The PTs here are lovely and I'm sure they mean well, but if you are trying to get back to an active lifestyle or a sport, I'd recommend going to a more intense, sports focused practice. Unfortunately spending one month post knee surgery coming here set me back and derailed my progress which I would've never realized had I not gotten a second opinion from a different therapist office. They simply do not have the infrastructure for "maximum performance", despite the name. read more

Dr. Tom was great in treating an injury I had back about 8 years ago & has done just as awesome of a job with getting me back to tip top shape with an injury more recently sustained. I applaud him for valuing his client base in always extending extra effort to not only build rapport with us as patients in conversation but to seem genuinely concerned for our well being & day to day lives. When he asks about your weekend plans, he recalls what they were & inquires how you enjoyed them and whether your affected area was ok when he sees you next...even if it's weeks later. They have state of the art equipment & technology and most importantly are beyond accommodating for appointment scheduling any week day with office hours ranging from early a.m. to late evening. Since 2007 I have seen 3 different therapists and they have all been great. I started off seeing Tom for an ACL tear. As an athlete, i tend to push the limits and Tom helped me to be safe and properly recover in 6 months without pain. A few years later, I came to Tracy for a back injury after and she too gave me careful attention and got me back on the field. Jen has been my most recent therapist and she has helped me with a badly sprained ankle and runners knee. Highly recommend this practice!! read more

Excellent PT office-highly recommend this location and staff! Front desk staff was always pleasant during all interactions. Worked with Kris for outpatient therapy for a knee replacement-he was kind yet firm. Pushed me beyond what I thought were my limits, felt great when I left and I continue to do home exercises since discharged. He was awesome! All employees interacted with patients more on a personal basis than just doctor/patient basis. Everyone was always so nice and I never had to wait more than a few minutes. I came here at the recommendation of a colleague that frequents the Odenton location. While I am unhappy with my experience here, my intent is not to criticize a particular person or the practice in general. I will merely recite my experience. I am a male in my mid-20's and live an active lifestyle, playing sports on the weekend and going to the gym 2-4x/week. To make a long story short, I came here for post-op physical therpay following a hip arthroscopy to repair a labral tear. My surgeon is regarded as the area expert and takes post-op PT very seriously (he has even written his own PT protocol). My first visit was for an evaluation, 6 days post-op, and 2 days after my first follow-up with my surgeon. Having seen several physical therapists in the past for various injuries, I am used to them articulating the affected areas, taking measurements, and writing them down. This is an important process, so that progress in range of motion (mobility) can be tracked. While I did go through the "interviewing" process of the evaluation, measurements were never taken. I can't believe that this evaluation was nearly as thorough as it should have been. In reference to the treatment plan, I also presented the protocol that was written by my doctor (all 20+ pages of it, with pictures) to my therapist. It was acknowledged and I was assured that my treatment plan would incorporate the protocol as well as my therapist's personal experience. However, in my first 2 PT sessions, my actual treatment plan ended up varying wildly from the protocol. Precautions and progressions (ie. don't do "X" before "Y") were not followed. I left both sessions feeling worse than when I had walked in with soreness that lasted for days. After my 2nd PT session, I visited my surgeon again for my second follow-up. I commented on how I had seemed to have a set back in my progress. Upon an evaluation, he told me that I was showing signs of tendonitis in my hip flexors and adductors, which is typically seen if physical therapy is done wrecklessly. He reminded me of the importance of following the protocol. After some discussion, he noted that the physical therapist was instructing me to do things that were not to be introduced until week 6! I brought this information back to my physical therapist and asked him to revisit the protocol. After some soft-tissue work that opened up one of my incisions AND being instructed to do the same exercises that I told my PT I was NOT to be doing, I decided that I would not return. I could not believe the negligence. I've since moved on to greener pastures. read more

I am a 50 year old male, who is somewhat active, going to the gym 2-3x/week. I recently had an accident, which left me with a partially torn rotator cuff. I tried resting it for about 6 months, at the recommendation of 2 orthopedic surgeons. While my shoulder had improved a little, it still was giving me significant pain when stressed (swimming, lifiting heavy objects overhead, etc.) Both orthopedic surgeon shoulder specialists, at that point, recommended surgery, but a slightly different technique. I went to a third surgeon to break the tie, and he recommended physical therapy, which the previous 2 said would not help. After a brief internet search, I chose Maximum Performance Physical Therapy, due to its convenience of location and hours. After going for my first visit, I met Jonathan, who seemed very knowledgeable and capable. He started me on a program of exercise, stretching, and a deep tissue massage to my injured shoulder, followed by ice and electrical stimulation. The deep tissue massage seemed to make the most improvement. It was actually a little painful, when he did it, but that was necessary to get the max results. I noticed an improvement right away, and after a few weeks, I was able to go swimming without pain. My therapy lasted about 6 weeks, after which I was given instructions on stretching and exercise at home. It has now been about 3 weeks since I stopped the therapy, and everything still feels very good. I still dot he stretching and exercise a few days/week. Hopefully, I will continue to be pain free. With respect to a previous reviewer, Jonathan did do measurements of my range of motion on the first visit to serve as a baseline. He only did it once again, but that was because my range of motion was not very limited to begin with, but the problem was more associated with pain when stressed, not free range of motion. He probably could have done that on a more regular basis, but I trust his instincts on what's important and what's not. Definitely recommend Jonathan for these type of issues. Simply amazing! After knee surgery I wasn't sure how my life was going to get back to "normal." With the help of Tom Yates & his staff and 3 months of PT I was walking almost like new again. From my 1st call to make an appointment to my last PT session I was treat with respect. They worked with my insurance company and made it easy for me. They helped me set up a regular PT schedule and encouraged me along the way (they also gave me exercises I could do on my "off" days.) Tom communicated with my doc and kept me progressing forward. I can't say enough good things about the efforts that were made to help me get myself up and moving again. The icing on the cake is that not only are the staff great to work with, they are just really nice & kind people who treat you like family when you walk through the doors. I still stop by on occasion just to say hello. I hope I never have to have surgery again...but if I do, I know exactly who my first call will be post-op! read more
