Terrances Heating & Air

Terrances Heating & Air

I needed a new AC unit for my townhome, and after having a few companies inspect my old unit, the…read morebest option was to replace it. I chose to work with Terrance because he was eager to secure my business and promised to complete the job quickly. To be clear, Terrance does not perform the work himself--he contracts everything out. He even lowered the price slightly, which seemed like a good deal at first. However, when it came time to pay, he added "taxes," which brought the price right back to what it was before he offered the discount. There was also no clear scheduling process, no courtesy calls, and no text notifications before workers arrived. For example, one day I came home from work and minutes later someone rang my doorbell saying they were there to take measurements--without any prior notice. When the installation took place, I was at work and again received no call to let me know what time to expect them. After the unit was installed on July 11, I had to follow up myself to ensure I had all necessary paperwork for warranty purposes. The installers also left behind a large box from packaging and what appeared to be a part from my old unit. Since installation, I have been trying to reach Terrance about follow-up concerns. I have sent multiple texts with no response and only received a reply after I called and left a message--18 days later. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Terrance. His business practices are extremely unprofessional, from poor communication to lack of customer follow-up. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a contractor who values professionalism and customer service.

Two…read moretechnicians arrived, and within five minutes, they told me I'd need to replace the entire HVAC system and gave me a price on the spot. I told them I wanted to get a second opinion and some additional quotes. Later, I discovered they had taken the power disconnect breaker with them and then blocked my number when I called to ask for its return. I ended up calling Smiley's Heating and Cooling, who saved the day. Turns out, the problem was simply a loose power line under the house. The first company had stolen my power disconnect, which I had to replace for $500. This company is nothing more than a group of con artists, more interested in selling a whole new system than actually fixing the issue. Avoid them at all costs.

On the day of our appointment, they called ahead to notify us that they were on the way and arrived between the allotted hours provided by the warranty company. Thomas and Trevis were extremely knowledgeable and explained the issue to my husband in detail. Thomas even had my husband come to the unit and showed him the cause of the issue. Our unit had a clogged drain line that was not allowing the water to drain properly from the unit. After diagnosing the problem, they informed us that the unit needed to be cleaned. The cleaning service was not covered by our home warranty and there would be an additional charge. Since we were referred by our home warranty company, they did apply a discounted rate to the price. Understanding our warranty only covers replacement parts, we appreciated the discount and their fair pricing. Within an hour, they completed the full cleaning of the unit which included evaporator coils and the drain line. When the service was completed, we provided an electronic receipt that detailed the work completed, recommended additional services needed, and a limited warranty. I would highly recommend this company! Thank you for an excellent experience!

Will definitely only call Dran's going forward.

After doing some research on costs, I went with Riverside. They scheduled the replacement almost immediately and completed the work in one day. I highly recommend this company.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with Riverside Heating & Air. In June 2023, I paid…read moreRiverside approximately $3,800 total for service on my HVAC system, with roughly $1,600 of that being for replacement of the variable-speed ECM blower motor in my Carrier system. Just a little over three years later, that replacement motor has already failed. Considering the amount of money I spent with Riverside and the short life of such an expensive replacement, I contacted them hoping they would stand behind their work or at least offer some type of assistance, goodwill coverage, or help through the manufacturer. They would not cover anything. I understand that written warranties have expiration dates, but there is a difference between what a company is legally obligated to do and how a company chooses to take care of a customer. A roughly $1,600 blower motor replacement should last considerably longer than three years, and after spending approximately $3,800 with this company on that service, I expected them to at least make an effort to help when such an expensive component failed this quickly. What makes this even more frustrating is that I was able to locate the exact OEM Genteq/Carrier replacement motor myself for a fraction of what I originally paid and will now be replacing it on my own. I don't expect a company to warranty something forever. But when an expensive repair fails this prematurely, how the company responds matters just as much as the original repair. Unfortunately, Riverside's response has ensured that I will not use them again and cannot recommend them to others.
