We had about 20 friends and family over and wanted a mix of candid shots, family portraits, and photos of the ceremony itself. Ryan captured everything beautifully -- the big moments, the small emotional details, and the natural energy of the day. Here is the story: I hired her to take my Master's graduation photos. She was to follow me around FIU and take good shots of me around the different picture spots I chose. When we were supposed to meet up, she was very late and brought her son with her (who brings their child when you're providing a professional service to someone?). Moreover, she was dressed extremely unprofessional! Red flag #1-should have just stopped right there but I decided to keep going and give her the benefit of the doubt. As we were going from picture spot to picture spot, I noticed that she failed to fix my cap and gown before the pictures. Every time I've done professional photos elsewhere, if something does not look right (regarding your appearance) they change it to make you look as perfect as possible; this she failed to do. It was as if she did not care how the pictures came out at all. I had to ask her "does the tassel look alright?" etc! Redflag #2 Well, we took several photos and we were done for the day. Then...the outcome. Oh Lord, the outcome!!! Just to note...she uses something like shutterfly as her "lab." Redflag #3. Anyways, she sent me an email with the link to the website where she had uploaded the pictures to. The pictures looked horrible! She failed to center my face on a lot of them, some of the pictures I did like my tassel was not showing the "2012" part (if she would've taken the time to fix me/it before snapping the photos maybe I would've liked them)...she cut off some of the props from the pictures...everything was just a mess. Out of all of the pictures, I think there were about 7 "good quality" pictures. Well out of the 7 that I did like, I had to pick four for her to send me prints of. I picked the four and she sent me the photos via regular postal mail. She sent them to me in a very flimsy envelope and when I opened them, I was extremely baffled to see the quality of these prints!! They were terrible! My face again was not centered, the prints were cut horribly (not even, it looked as if a 3rd grader had cut them for an art project), then she didn't even send them to me in a standard size...she made them a very unusual size (some measurements that would be extremely hard to buy a standard frame for), and the pictures were bent!! I called her, told her about the situation, and asked her to print me new ones. She said that she had never had a problem with her "lab" before and that she would reprint the pictures. I told her via the telephone that when she got the new prints, I wanted to meet her in person in order to assure that the prints came out okay before I accepted another poor quality set of photos through the mail. She said okay. Fast forward to after the second prints came in....I emailed her after waiting about a week and a half and asked her if they had come in yet. She said they had come in and asked for my mailing address. I told her we had agreed that we would meet in person so that I could look at the pictures before I accepted them as the final product. She said she recently had surgery and could not meet up with me. Remind you, she was still posting on facebook that she had time slots available to take pictures this weekend and next weekend and so forth. So she's well enough to take pictures but not well enough to meet me to merely hand me prints??? I told her I would wait until she recovered from surgery but no...she mailed them to me anyway!! Apparently she went through her old emails and took it upon herself to mail them to me, going against everything we had agreed on via the telephone. What an unprofessional person. I swear I have never been this angry and baffled at a "business" before. I feel like I wasted my money!! She turned such a beautiful time in my life into a disaster. Now I am forced to print the pictures myself at a local lab in order to get good quality prints...spending even more money. Do yourselves a favor and avoid this lady like the plague!
