Let me preface by saying this review is based on my experience with the 5 training sessions…read morerequired prior to starting the group training option. First, to start off the experience, I visited the Kinetix website and requested more information. Within 24 hrs a return email was sent and I had an appointment with one of the coaches, Zach. Zach was friendly, he showed me around the gym, and explained options. I did not feel pressured during the interaction. The gym is new and beautiful. The locker room is pristine and the member lounge has the perfect mid-century modern aesthetic. The 5 personal training sessions required prior to starting group classes didn't seem like it would be "enough" and to be fair, a lot of the movements I knew. With that said, the sessions were useful to acclimate me to the gym. And the sessions were also for the coach to ensure I could perform movements safely, which I appreciate. I was disappointed that I was not taught various Olympic lifts (my sister mentioned these were included in the "on-ramp" classes at her CrossFit gym). I mentioned my concern to Zach and he reassured me I would be taught various moves during the classes. Overall, I am pleased with my experience thus far and will update this review as I have more to say. To also note, Kinetix used to be called "CrossFit boomtown" though I am told the owners disassociated themselves from the CrossFit title as there are limitations when trying to grow their business and open additional locations.

I really appreciate the patience in explaining what the areas needing extra tlc and strengthening require, and the level of professionalism in teaching the small movements to get me back on track. While visiting from the DC 5 came here with my father-in-law to work out (I make a point to work…read moreout at least 3x a week-- no exceptions for vacations), The gym is well- apportioned and clean with a good variety of cardio and weight machines, dumbbells, a power cage, benches, trap bar for dead lifts, and just about anything you might need. The best things about the gym, though, are the owners and the atmosphere. I got to know Colin, and it's clear he cares for his customers. He's happy to answer questions and get you started and charges reasonable rates for personal training to help you customize a routine. I only briefly met his wife, but it was clear from observing her with clients that she shares her husband's passion for fitness and helping and encouraging others to meet their goals. They maintain a supportive, non- competitive atmosphere where you can progress at your own rate. I went in the mornings around 0830--a time when the gyms back home are usually fairly crowded. Since it's open 24 hours, people can space out their times and go when it's convenient for them, not just when their free time matches gym hours. While there were always people there, it never felt overcrowded; I only had to wait for the power cage once for maybe 10 minutes to do squats, which was fine, since there was plenty else to keep my leg day occupied until I could hop in. They also accept many different insurance plans. All in all, it's a fantastic gym. If you're out this way, I highly recommend checking it out. Overall interactions were unprofessional for someone who is supposed to be there for the patient. The receptionists I interacted with were rays of sunshine and inviting/called you by your name. I can't speak highly enough about their demeanor. Also Tony, one of the therapists, seemed very friendly and professional with his clients. If I were to give the location a 2nd chance it would be with him. If you choose STAR then keep in mind you may have to be your best advocate, not the person who's job is to help guide you.
