Beautiful location and fantastic, Bordeaux-focused wine selection. Some seriously special wines other Coravin list. That said, it's kind of weird that the place is set up with "serve yourself" stations but they don't work, so you have to order everything. Service was friendly and helpful, however. Pricing is a bit on the high side compared to other nearby wine bars, but the selection is great and they do allow smaller pours if you don't want to break the bank. Place was dead during an afternoon visit, but that's likely on us -- I'm sure it's much livelier and more fun in the evening. read more

If you appreciate fine wine then you have to visit this shop in downtown Bordeaux. I go every time I visit Bordeaux, about yearly. You can purchase wine tastings in addition to buying bottles. What sets Thai place apaet is they open $500-$2000 bottles for tastings!!! I doubt I will ever buy a $2000 bottle but I love to experience a tasting for around $25. They also offer organized tasting events. You gotta check them out! read more

My dad had recommended that we come here, and it did not disappoint. You pre pay for a card, and then everything is self service from machines. You can keep adding money to the card, and €40 goes pretty quickly even though the cheapest wines start at €1. There are 3 different sized pours to choose from. They are sorted by region, and the focus is on Bordeaux reds, but they do have whites and sweeter wines. There are iPads where you can read all about the wine and explore at your own pace. Again, it ranges from stuff that's €1 per taste to much higher end stuff like Château Haut Brion. For the premier grand cru wines, it's still a better price by the bottle, but if you're just looking for a taste, it's a good opportunity to be able to sample a little without committing to a whole bottle. It's a very low key and chill place to hang out. If you want more personal assistance, they're happy to help guide you, and they also have classes, but I liked being able to sample and read at my own pace without any pressure. They have some high top tables and also some couches, and they'll give you a bottle of water to stay hydrated. If you look up inside the main room, you'll see a bunch of wine glasses hanging upside down in place of a chandelier, which looks pretty cool. Also, the bathroom was super clean. The location is very convenient in the city center. That said, I think most wines within the city center are more expensive than out in the countryside since it's geared more towards tourists. This is a modern cellar where you can taste a variety of more well known Bordeaux wines. They have a slew of Grand Cru and non-Grand Cru brands to choose from. It's a system where they have glasses out on these banks of wine dispensers that have about 8 different nitrogen sealed wines. You purchase a charge card and then use that at each bank to purchase wine tastes. They offer 3 different fill sizes from just a taste to a full glass. I tried out about 15 different wines. I'm not a very strong drinker but they have spit sinks so I was able to try that many without falling over. This is a great place to get your bearings as far as what region you may want to go visit and do tastings at. You may end up also purchasing a few bottles there as well. The only thing is that it costs an arm and a leg to ship overseas. I think it was like $200 for a half dozen bottles! But that has nothing to do with this establishment but just the import/export tariffs. They also can't ship to all states so you need to ask. Even at that fee, you may still be able to buy it less expensive than if you purchased in the US. Do your research before coming. If I could have done a week or 2 week long trip to Bordeaux, I would have gone to this place a couple times taking more time to enjoy the wine. It's difficult to get into the well known chateaus so this may be the only place you can get to taste them (other than restaurants which of course charge premiums). It was great to try out this place to finalize my decision on where to go for actual winery tastings though. The attendants were also very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended. read more

We were super happy with our visit here. The sommelier was very well informed and really helped fill out our understanding of how the French do wine. Come prepared to schlep wine home with you because you're unlikely to leave without finding something you want. A rainy few days in Bordeaux, we stopped in to enjoy a few tastings of wine. Depending upon the wine and size of pour, we sampled nearly 8 vintages and discovered a few new favorites. A wonderful way to spend a couple hours dodging raindrops. read more
