Wow! One of the best, most professional and very much emphatic, caring people and surgeon I met yesterday. Monday, I lost complete hearing in my fully working right ear, over six years ago my left ear has reduced hearing to about 40 %. Loosing complete hearing in my good ear was a big shock and I was very upset about my situation. I was referred to Dr. Maw by my PCP and from the initial contact for the appt.( Which they accommodate right away same day) till I finished my appt same day every person including Audiologist and Surgeon I met were awesome. I have not seen such a service in our modern medicine. And believe me this statement is from a professional who managed healthcare facility with over 10 staff members and three doctors for over 25 years in this valley. This office has exceeded my standard of excellence which I had set up for the practice I managed. Dr. Michelle Inserra treated me with my condition and beyond my expectation, she is down to earth, explained me every single details of my care and treatment in pretty simple language, very personable and without a complicated medical mumbo jumbo. In one sentence, I walked in this clinic upset and crying and walked out with a big smile on my face. Not only that, but when my pharmacy had an issue filling prescription and one of the wonderful girl at the clinic told me not to worry about that she will personally take care of the issue with pharmacy and she did before even I reached back to home. Went in there for ear liquid being stuck behind my eardrum, after waiting for more than an hour and half from my appointment finally could see Dr. Maw for less than 3 minutes. She just told me to wait until a follow up session if the liquid is not gone by itself. She was too good to even look into my ear. Called them couple of days later that I have a very severe pain in my ear and need help that to my surprise Dr. Maw said "she is not a pain specialist and I should go to ER" where I was shocked because I was there in their office couple days ago and she didn't even bother to seriously check what's wrong. So I decided to go to a different ENT and move on, but I started seeing bunch of charges to my insurance for exactly "Series of hearing tests" which they have never performed. This was very concerning as I was dealing with pain and discomfort and all they could care was just to see me as an opportunity to over charge and make money. They will attempt to send charges to your insurance for things they've never done. They will also try to conduct unnecessary tests without your permission to maximize what they can get from your medical insurance. Make sure to ask for the code they will or going to charge your insurance with and also ask them for what operation the code is for. Be very careful when you provide your personal information with them. Dr. Maw didn't even know to check and see if there is a blockage in between of my ear, nose or throat that other ENTs would do if you have the same problem as mine (liquid being stuck behind eardrum) during your first visit as their general exam under something like exam using a scope (endoscope) of the inside of the nose or sinuses. If you really care to see a doctor who would care about you, this is not the right place and Dr. Maw is not a doctor to care about you. read more

A busy office with kind and efficient front desk and a thoughtful, bright audiologist named Lizell. She makes herself available for me if there are any issues. She also taught me how to keep them clean and dry. Dr Maw was an excellent choice. Just going to An audiologist doesn't always provide key information: why The hearing loss? Will it likely get worse? How can I keep it from getting worse etc. I got great advice, reassurances and strategies from Dr Maw that were very helpful. P.s., got a second opinion- A couple of years after I got my diagnosis of inoperable otosclerosis, my sister badgered next into getting a second opinion. (She knew someone with cochlear implants). I went to another otologist close to Stanford and top drawer. After tests and discussion they agreed with Dr Maw. Cochlear implants are only for profound deafness. read more

Recommenced by my neighbors when I posted an inquiry in my Nextdoor neighborhood forum searching for a competent ear specialist! I've had vertigo and tinnitus of late. These are typical things she deal with! :). She is all that and I was tested,diagnosed and will follow up with Doctor Maw. She truly deserves a FIVE Star rating and I would definitely recommend her to anyone with eat issues like mine. I scheduled an appointment with Dr Maw and I was seen by someone else without a notice. I addressed this with office and they apologized for this and offered to reschedule with Dr. Mau which we agreed to but never followed up to confirm an appointment. I scheduled a follow up given the vitamins suggested for ear ringing didn't help and Dr. Mau took 35 min to show up on the room. Didn't even ask or listened my concern this time and was done shining the light in my ears in 2 min. She stated I should ask my doctor for another referral. read more

I'm at dr. Maw. They areHUGELY fearful of the Coronavirus!!! My Dads mask slid halfway off his nose, and they were yelling at him- he can't hear twice FYI he's 84!! Then I was on the phone and they were super snippy with me about it- told me to leave!!! Like I'm not the client/customer They were even upset that I handed them the registration papers- I should have filled them out online Pretty interesting - we'll see how it goes with the doctor I thought we were opening up this week?? WOW!!! I had an exceptionally rude admin ! Walk up to me like she was going to push me, or my Dad. She barked at me to move the mask- I thought she was talking to my Dad- because his mask had slid down his nose a bit. No- it was me!!! She yelled at me to move my mask up- I pulled it out enough to get it over my chin- she yelled,"NO !!! Not out- UP!!!" She pushed another mask into my hand- put it on! I now had two masks n covering my whole face! I told her I couldn't see, she said SO at least it's covering your nose!! My mask was covering from my under chin to the top bridge of my nose We saw the Dr. on the 2nd floor, what a huge difference!!! The Dr was kind, she listened to my Dad! I was in desperate need of help for a ear infection I had for quite a while I was desperate for some help because its not the best feeling, my primary care doctor was giving me medication that was not working simply irritating it more until I found this place!! Dr Maw saw the problem right away and gave me the correct medication within a week I started to feel relief in my ear and I felt so much better I now go for check ups and Dr. Farsi does an amazing job cleaning my ears if needed he's gentle and not rough ! This practice is definitely not worth a star. So many things that had gone wrong. Why? Read on.. First of all, there are two tiers of staff in this office. The intake on the ground level has the staff who manage sign up forms, appt scheduling and billing(?). The 2nd floor have medical assistants and the audiologist. Between the two teams 1st and 2nd, there was a disconnect. The medical assistant made it clear of her frustration that the people downstairs were not clear with instructions on patients who were coming up for the check up/audiologist appt. You definitely feel how frazzled she was as she took my file and led me to the 2nd floor. But I find no fault in her as I observed how disorganized the intake crew were. She tried to make the best of the situation at hand. Second point...They order tests and surprise you with a whopping bill all without giving you prior warning that "your insurance may or may not cover tests ordered". Again a front desk crew issue. Third...I was in medical crisis (suffering a debilitating vertigo attack) and my hubby was put on hold for medical staff for about 20 mins only to be redirected to operator/front desk!! Ridiculous! I wasn't even successfully connected after they attempted to reach Dr Maw's medical staff on the 2nd floor. All we got was an answering machine that said to call during business hours (call was made at about 9.45am). Frustrating and infuriating!! I ended up going back to the referring ENT I saw previously for immediate treatment. Now, was this a good match for a care provider? I think not. (Once again intake crew issue) Fourth... Dr herself lacked a compassionate feeling physicians should somehow exude. Don't let the website picture fool you. Her demeanor was somehow standoffish. Not once had a seen her smile or look welcoming when I was 1st introduced. It felt awkward especially when she needs to work/examine you closely. Very uncomfortable vibe. I don't expect an overly friendly doctor. I just think they should make patients feel welcome. After all, you'll bring in the business to her practice. To be fair, the office decor seemed professional and impressive enough but the team that provided the services paled in comparison. It was not a good experience and I decided not to return. We were referred to Dr. Maw's office by our ENT as we wanted to schedule a hearing test for our infant son. The front desk staff said that patients usually see Dr. Maw as a follow up to the test which we did. On first impression, she was neither warm nor friendly. She kept asking why we were there to see here since we have already been seen by an ENT. She was clearly annoyed because what I assume was a patient visit that was a waste of her time. I didn't both mentioning that her staff had automatically scheduled the appoint. to see her after the hearing test. However, I went ahead and asked if she felt that our 15 month old needed a myringotomy as I was feeling anxious about the option of surgery. Her response was, "He needs tubes." Dr. Mah may be highly skilled and knowledgeable doctor, but she lacks the personality and bedside manner that is almost, if not, equally as important qualities in a doctor. My prior ENT (Dr. Ruffy)d couldn't find time for me in his schedule, his office (after 1 hour on hold twice!) told me to go find someone else if I couldn't wait 3 months. A friend recommended Dr. Maw. When I called for an appointment an actual person answered after 2 rings and was both upbeat and efficient. Explained that I might have an ear infection that was adversely affecting my hearing in both ears, she found a cancelation and got me in right away. Walking into Dr. Maw's office really let me know she was a find. Her staff were all smiling and cheerful, the office area was clean and there were plenty of seats (unlike my prior ENT). Dr. Maw was also upbeat and caring, so I could see where the staff got their direction. She spent time determining what might be causing my hearing loss, sent me downstairs for a hearing test with a very pleasant and professional AuD, then reviewed it with me and recommended a treatment plan. The diagnosis wasn't good, but she lowered my stress with clear explanations. Wow, I wish all of my doctors were like her! Highly recommended!!! read more

I first saw Dr. Maw about 8 years ago. I was panicked about my CT-scan results. Even though it was a minor problem, I was so scared - the staff made sure I saw Dr. Maw within a week. I have been to see her regularly since then. She has consistently treated my problem. She never fails to greet me with a smile and remembers from appointment to appointment what is going on in my life (and she asks me about my life, not just my ears). Sometimes I do have to wait to see her. To me, it is worth it to have a doctor who will take what time she needs to treat a patient. Dr. Maw puts her patients before her schedule. Her medical Assistant Angelica was very helpful in preparing me for surgery. I have seen the audiologists and PAs. They have always had time for what ever questions I have. In the waiting room, I have met many patients where Dr. Maw has made a significant difference in their lives. Don't let a few bad reviews prevent you from seeing this good doctor. read more

IF I COULD GIVE A NEGATIVE 5, I WOULD!!! I had a good referral from my primary physician's office, so I ignored the negative reviews. Unfortunately, they were ALL TRUE! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. They make you wait 30+ minutes to see them; they overbill unethically, the staff are self-centered, rude and disrespectful - like the other reviews I read - and unprofessional! I saw Dr. Maw about ten years ago and really liked her. When I began experiencing ear problems again, I checked here and was shocked to see so many terrible reviews. I'm glad I did not let the negative reviews stop me. I did not see Dr. Maw this time, but I did see her assistants. I was blown away by the professional and caring nature of EVERYONE I dealt with in the office. Either they have entirely changed the staff or the negative reviewers had an experience completely unlike my own. Baroush, the physicians assistant, treated me kindly and respectfully. After two visits and a thorough exam, they got to the bottom of my issue. I will definitely be going back next year for a followup visit. read more

This review isn't going to be very helpful, but... I saw Dr Maw some years ago for persistent dizziness and vertigo. I was handed off to assistants for various tests; at the end of the tests I was able to spend (allowed to spend) very little time speaking with the doctor. My problem was not helped and I left feeling dissatisfied with the whole experience. Alas, she seems to be the only doc in the Bay Area who advertises specific expertise with vertigo. I have been an avid viewer of Yelp reviews for many years and have considered writing reviews on numerous occasions. However, ultimately I never did. This is my first Yelp Review. I don't think it's an overstatement for me to say that Dr. Maw and all the staff we've worked with, e.g. Kelly, Behrouz, Liezel, Nelly, Nicole, Karina, and others have been the most amazing doctors and support staff I've come across my entire life. Please let me explain: My wife, who is 37, unexpectedly became deaf a few months back. It was shocking and a huge life change for us. Through the process we feel blessed and grateful to have found Dr. Maw. My wife began losing hearing quickly in one of her ears as a result of a rare genetic condition called Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss. I remember it began happening on a Sunday night and her hearing kept getting worse on Monday morning. I immediately called Dr. Maw's office (Ear Associates) expecting that I'd have to wait a few days, at the earliest, to get an appointment. I explained my wife's situation to Nicole at the front office, who was very friendly. Even though Dr. Maw was booked solid that day, she made time to see my wife at the end of the day. I was expecting to only see Dr. Maw for a few minutes since she was booked, but she carved out time and spent what seemed like 20-30 minutes with my wife. In addition, we spent another 30-45 minutes doing tests with an audiologist at the clinic who was very friendly and listened to us thoroughly. We started the suggested course of action from Dr. Maw immediately since people experiencing Sudden Hearing Loss only have a few days to take corrective action, and even then, the chances of hearing coming back are slim. Dr. Maw carved out generous time on subsequent days that week and we came back a few more times to get follow up treatment to see if hearing could be restored. Even though my wife's hearing did not return, we both felt Dr. Maw and her staff were ultra attentive and did everything they could and what research has shown to be most effective (I did some homework on that online as well). With my wife's hearing completely gone, Dr. Maw suggested Cochlear Implants as an option. Dr. Maw and her staff are very knowledgeable on implants. They weren't pushy and even gave references to several former patients that volunteered to share their experiences on getting implants, which was very helpful. My wife decided to get the implants and the added benefit with Dr. Maw is that she performs the surgery. Of course, I reference checked Dr. Maw with several friends of mine who are doctors. She is widely known as one of the best in her field. What struck me as even more impressive, was Dr. Maw's awesome bedside manner. Even though she's a badass at what she does, she comes off as patient, attentive, caring, and genuinely wanting to help. My wife just completed cochlear implant surgery on both ears and Dr. Maw performed the procedure very well. She records a video of the procedure and shares pictures. It was a long procedure and there was a risk that my wife could lose feeling in her facial nerves or taste. Knowing that, Dr. Maw took longer than anticipated and was extra careful in not damaging any nerves. It has been 1 week since my wife got her implants activated and already she is able to recognize sound and hear things, which is a monumental change from being deaf and not being able to hear anything. I could write more, but in summary: Front Staff: Friendly, patient, helpful, accommodating Dr. Maw, Kelly, Behrouz: Friendly, patient, super attentive to our needs, spent the time to learn about our situation, asked good questions, great bedside manner. In summary, Dr. Maw and the Ear Associates staff have been a blessing and we're very grateful for their attentiveness to my wife and helping her regain hearing again. God Bless! read more

There is no end to the complaints with this doctor. I interviewed a few doctors to get feedback on the insertion of a BAHA hearing aide. She seemed knowledgable in her profession at first and I got an appointment right away. Before I went in for surgery I debated for a long time whether I wanted the surgery or not. It took me over a year to decide & I called for an appt for surgery. When I went in to the hospital, I had a cold and was not feeling well. I told the staff & Dr. Maw. Dr. Maw had scheduled the surgery & came in a was very upset when I said I was not feeling well. She was cold and obviously upset I was not following her schedule. The nurse at the time told me "Honey, if you do not feel well, then don't go into surgery. I have seen too many times the bad results, recovery is much longer, your resistance is down & you are suseptible to many other bacteria while you are here". She was the one that encouraged me to tell Dr Maw that I did not want the surgery at that time. After rescheduling the surgery, I came in & it was completed. After surgery, I came home & could not get out of bed for about two days! I was so drowsey. Finally, I contacted her office & talked to a nurse. In the over year time period that I had take to schedule the surgery I lost 20 lbs (via exercise & dieting). When I went into the hospital I was over 20lbs lighter! I was never weighed for proper anestesia! In other words, they gave me way too much anestesia because they over estimated my weight at the time of surgery. That made me worry about what else they might forget! I have had a difficult time making appts with the office to follow up. They seem disorganized & incompetent. I really wonder if they know what they are doing. They moved offices and didn't even tell me! So when I missed an appt because I went to their old office they wanted to charge me a $200 missed appt fee! I still have pain at the site of my BAHA insertion. It has been almost four years. It is not so much the staff as Dr. Maw. She is emotionless! Bedside manner is not her forte! For someone that I paid multi-thousands of dollars to, she comes off as not caring & cold. I would definitely NOT recommend her to anyone. read more

Dr. Maw has now successfully implanted (bilateral cochlear) our young daughter and my wife and I couldn't be happier or more appreciative of her and her staff's care and professionalism over the last two yrs. Rather it's Jacqui in billing, Angelica in scheduling and of course incredible audiologists, Dr's Patil, Ahuja & Schmitt, they are all first rate and have gone "above and beyond" in our experience. Admittedly.... initially trying to navigate the limited physician options specializing in pediatric implants & continuing maintenance within a 100 mile radius, we were a bit tentative & unsure if we were making the right physician selection...I suspect because we mistook Dr Maw's "reserved" nature a bit. Thankfully, she turned out to be not only a brilliant professional surgeon who specializes in Otology/Neurotology, but is actually a very sweet, friendly, caring & considerate professional who takes tremendous pride in her work and will go the extra mile for "her" kids & their families. She's very confident (absolutely not arrogant) & experienced in her respective field and offers more intangibles then most Otologic surgeons in my opinion because of her vast additional experience treating facial nerve disorders. Last but not least, she "walks the walk" for the right inspirational reasons having some hearing loss in her family history. We just can't thank her enough for everything her and her staff have provided us and we look forward to a lengthy relationship with continued maintenance & visits for our daughter's implants. For those parents on the Central Coast who must walk down the same road we have... unexpectedly having a child born with profound hearing loss & have the ultimate objective of integrating your child into a mainstream "hearing" world, do yourself a favor and start by securing the services of both Dr Maw and Audio/Verbal teacher Marsha Haines (Listen and Learn, San Jose). As we watch the daily progression in our daughter, I know choosing these two professionals to work with were two of the best and most critical choices in our respective lives, and most importantly....our daughter's. read more

I was referred here due to dizzy spells a couple of months ago, and the lady at the front desk verified my insurance card and said it was accepted. I did not see, or meet, Jennifer Maw but rather a physician's assistant who didn't seem to know what he was doing. He gave me a hearing test and now I have an $800 bill because they "were wrong, they actually don't take my insurance." I don't recommend, unless you want to waste your time, and later more time dealing with their inaccuracies. read more

I recently had an episode of Sudden Hearing Loss. This is an unusual condition where hearing is suddenly lost for no apparent reason. It is considered an urgent problem because prompt treatment can make a difference in recovery.  Hours passed and my hearing did not improve so I called the most qualified hearing specialist I know, Dr. Jennifer Maw.  It was late afternoon and she was not in the office but I was given an appointment for the next day. Her office is modern and conventiently located with excellent parking.  The receptionists were accommodating and helpful. Kelly the audiologist was professional and very friendly. She carefully tested my hearing and I was promptly sent upstairs to see the physician assistant Behrouz.  He was very knowledgable and explained in detail what was happening and the various methods of treatment. I could not have been more pleased with the professional manner with which I was treated by him.  Since my hearing had spontaneously improved he suggested waiting over the weekend without treatment.  When I saw Dr. Maw on Monday I was pretty much back to normal except minor ringing in my ear. She took a very detailed history and did a thorough exam including relevant neurologic tests. She patiently answered all my concerns and I felt  completely at ease. She agreed that no treatment was indicated at this point and made a follow up appointment to monitor my progress.  Dr. Maw exhibits all the qualities of an excellent physician. She is knowlegible, empathetic, and considerate. I felt I received the best possible care available.  Full disclosure - I am also a medical doctor and I can tell you that Dr Maw is a exceptional physician and surgeon with an excellent and a well deserved reputation in our medical community. I had was impaction in both ears which was causing hear loss in one of the ears. I had an appointment with Behrouz Farsi to get it checked out. I read good reviews about him on yelp and I must say he deserves every praise. He was able to clean the wax build up in my ears with zero pain. I have never seen Dr. Maw, so my rating is not about her. I go to her office because the office has a World Class Physician Assistant that cleans my ears so I can have my hearing aids evaluated. I've lost his card, so I can't give you his name. He is gentle, and caring; doesn't rush. He makes you feel like your the most important patient in the world. My husband a physician and surgeon who is particularly critical of other doctors visited Dr. Maw when no one else could help with his Meiners. She was able to treat him medically with great success. Dr. Jennifer Maw is an outstanding physician. She saw me through a serious and potentially debilitating disease and allowed me to return to a productive and active life. She is one of two doctors in the state I would trust with the surgeries she performed - which are delicate and difficult to get correct - and she saved both my hearing and my balance. She worked with me and my personal investigations into my illness to work out a treatment plan, patiently answered all my questions, examined all my symptoms, and pursued all possibilities regarding my illness no matter how remote or seemingly unrelated. This is a gift rarely found in today's medical community. Her staff worked with me as I recovered from serious financial losses after incurring significant medical expenses with her, and she stood by me medically through thick and thin. My reason for visit: increased hearing loss. Wait time: around 5-15 min the 2 times I was in office. Impression on services: the tests appear to be comprehensive and accurate. Results are consistent with previous tests with other doctors adjusted by increased hearing loss. I've got good impression from stuff and Dr. Maw's professionalism. Why 2 stars: poor ethics. They ask you to sign waiver of insurance coverage on hearing aids basically. If you sign it, you pay out of pocket about 3 times more than insurance cost and 2 times more than market price. For Widex Beyond, it is $6000 for 2 devices vs. $2210 of insurance payment or $2700 if you buy them independently. They promise to refund insurance payment to you, if that's any consolation. Doctors' charging patients up front highly exaggerated prices and getting all sorts of waivers looks a buzz of the moment. Beware! If financials in papers you are asked to sign give you bad vibe, check other doctors. read more

I'd say don't put all your eggs in the YELP basket.. My mother saw Dr Maw in January.. This is an 80 year old woman who has had NO hearing for 75 years.. Dr Maw is the GREATEST thing that has ever happened to my mother.. For the first time in 75 years she CAN hear. Dr Maw was gentle, kind, attentive, understanding, thorough, professional, highly informed and provided awesome follow-up. My mother also lives on the east coast and the Dr took time to find her a doctor to take over her care when she is not here.. When does that ever happen.. I think the current reviews must have come from someone with an agenda.. I not only worked in the health care field for decades.. I have been to a plethora of doctors over the years.. As a child I had suffered almost complete hearing loss in one ear as the result of multiple Cholesteatoma's and the surgeries required to remove the cysts. Throughout my life I have had many reconstructive surgeries by multiple top surgeons and have never been able to make any progress in getting my hearing back all the while dealing with countless post operative complications. Over the last few years under the care of Dr. Maw I now have a completely reconstructed ear and a titanium implant and for the first time am having success both in terms of hearing as well as overall ear stability. People have complained here about having to wait to see her etc. and sometimes that's true like any other doctor or business but Dr. Maw has given me part of my hearing back after 30 years of working on it. I have suffered from Meniere's Disease, vertigo and hearing loss since 1995. I have seen many ENT's with little or no relief. I met a few fellow sufferers who highly recommended Dr Maw. I went to visit her and she helped me through the vertigo and after that she inserted a cochlear implant in my left ear which had gone deaf due to Meniere's Disease. Surgery went smoothly and I was hearing again in my left ear. I still see my local ENT for allergy shots and he said this about Dr Maw.: he was an ENT Dr and Dr Maw is an EAR, EAR, EAR Dr. I am so happy to have found her as I was housebound due to vertigo attacks. After having a very bad experience at San Jose Ear & Sinus Medical Center, I asked my child's doctor for another referral. He gave us Dr Maw. My child loves her. The visit went well and was way better & faster than the previous doctor. Bottom floor is a little slow but I have been put through worse. Dr Maw cleared up my child's issue in no time, gave a better diagnosis & mediation and things are way better. No problems since. We both like her. read more

I had been dealing with what looked like sudden hearing loss for several days - first suspecting plugged Eustachian tubes, then actually wax, which I tried to treat at home. Nothing worked and after three days, tinnitus was bad enough to prevent sleep. I called the office and they could only fit me in the next day. They offered to speak to a medical assistant. When she heard about the sudden hearing loss, she stopped and set up and appointment to come in right away. The staff was pleasant and friendly. There was the usual mountain of paperwork, but I did not have to wait long. The issues were quickly identified and dealt with by friendly professional staff. I still met with Dr. Maw, who explained all the underlying issues and was thorough in her diagnosis. I will be back in six months for a follow up. Highly recommended. read more

READ THIS BEFORE YOU VISIT!!!!!! (especially #7 and 8) I was referred to Dr. Maw by my pediatrician to assess my two and a half year old for possible "ear tube" placement. I am an experienced pediatric RN and found her office staff appalling. They fell short in every possible way. 1. THEY DON'T GET THE JOB DONE. The staff was unable to do my son's hearing test because he had WAX in his ears. (They are EARS! Of course there is wax!) 2. POOR COMMUNICATION WITH PATIENTS AND BETWEEN STAFF. They did not communicate the reason for not doing the hearing test to me, only saying "have a seat" over and over until I demanded to know what was going on. Through out my appointment I had to ask the secretary the same questions multiple times before she tried to help. 3. RESTRAINED AND HURT MY TWO YEAR OLD. My pediatrician cleans wax out of his ears at every appointment. My son cooperates and never complains. Dr. Max had him pinned down and scraped out his ear so hard that she really hurt him. The first time anyone had hurt him. The first time I have ever seen anyone hurt by this 'procedure'. 4. DR. MAW kept hinting that she was sick and DID NOT WEAR A MASK. 5. THE OFFICE SECRETARY REFERRED TO MY SON AS "THE KID." Incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate. 6. I WAS THERE FOR FIVE (YES 5, FIVE!!!!!!) HOURS. Such long wait times. Someone else in the waiting room said, "I think we made a mistake by coming here." To be fair the last hour was because I wouldn't leave without the hearing test which I had already paid for and was the only reason I had come. This test is necessary for insurance purposes prior to ear tube placement. They tried to send me home and have me come back another day. But, I would have to pay again (and probably wait again, and then be told that he has WAX and we can't do the test.) I opted to wait 45 min at the end to do his hearing test. I didn't come to have DR. Maw tell me he had fluid in his ears. I came for the hearing test!! 7. DR. MAW CAN'T READ HER OWN STANDARDIZED TEST RESULTS and said "WHATEVER" to me. After finally getting the hearing test and sitting down to review the results first she told me they did a different test that I watched them do. After she figured that one out she began describing the function of his LEFT ear. When I said, "isn't that his RIGHT ear?" (It was, I can read a chart.) She said," WHATEVER." Yes, she said "WHATEVER" to me when discussing test results that would decide on the health care plan of her pediatric patient. 8. DR. MAW MISCLASSIFIED A DRUG AND GAVE ME CONFLICTING ADVICE. She told me Singulair was an antihistamine (it is not) and told me to give it to my son in the morning. Both my Pediatrician and Pharmacist advised me to give it at night because it can cause drowsiness. 9. A small office suggestion: get a change table in the bathroom if you are planning to treat pediatric patients. That stinky diaper I left in your garbage? That was on purpose after this infuriating visit and having to change my child on toilet seat covers I laid ON THE GROUND because there was no where to else to change him. THE END OF MY STORY. Even though she recommended tubes on the spot. I followed my instincts and chose a long course of low dose antibiotics. I went to Lucille Packard's Los Gatos office for the 'recheck' and my son's ears were completely clear. No tubes needed. Their office is run like a well oiled machine and caters to children. Hope this helps convince you to go some where else! p.s. Her PA was nice and apologized. He really should find a new job. She is not training him well. p.p.s. My Pediatrician knows about this visit and will no longer refer patients to her. read more
