I don't normally leave reviews but I felt compelled to highlight how awesome and accommodating the manager Mike and Fahim were during my experience. This was actually my first time purchasing tires and I had lots of questions. They were very patient and took the time to explore tailored options for me. They walked me through each step and made sure I was fully educated on my service. Not to mention how kind, warm and friendly they are at this location. Called the shop around lunch time, no need to schedule a vist so went to shop after work (4pm) same day. The big guy with a good heart (Mike) addressed my concern which is just one new tire that is close as the other 3 tires (with just 5k miles on it). I tend to buy tires a lot so I am a regular customer.Ive been to this establishment multiple times which has good service but the manager is always getting out of character and saying threats to the employees infront of me the customer which is unacceptable and unprofessional. I went in about 8 AM to address a popped tire thanks to the monstrous potholes on the Belt Pkwy Service Rd. The shop was fairly empty and I was able to get service right away. Rashi took the car in. About 30 mins later the mechanic called to tell me the tire also had a leak. Given that I have warranty the the replacement would be covered and I'll if have to pay was for the labor and taxes. My review is for the location at 166-15 Baisley Blvd., in Jamaica, NY. It's been a while since I visited the shop and had the experience I did, but I still think about it and it still bothers me so I decided to write a review. At the time I visited the shop, the GM, whose first name was Daniel, is the person with whom I had the encounter. I went to have my SUV serviced; it needed new tires, brakes, rotors, and some other work. The long wait and interaction with the GM didn't make me comfortable having all the services done there, so I decided only to have the tires changed there and the rest of the services done elsewhere. I left the wheel lock key for them to be able to change the tires. Since I'd brought it in later in the day, I had to leave it there overnight to be serviced. I picked up my vehicle and had it for a couple of days before I noticed that the wheel locks were not on the wheels. I looked in the glove compartment and also noticed that the wheel lock key wasn't there. Upon making this realization, I returned to the store to ask about the wheel locks and key. I calmly inquired to the GM about the situation, thinking it might have been an easily fixable mistake they made, and he immediately became enraged, loud, and rude, directing multiple curse words at me. When I responded to him, I saw that he just got louder and more aggressive and wanted to escalate the situation; it seems as though he was having some enjoyment in being threatening to a woman. With this realization, I decided to leave the store and at this point the GM followed me outside yelling at me at the top of his lungs until I got into my vehicle. I got the rest of the services done at another shop where they were cordial and professional and were happy to put on the new wheel locks that I had to purchase. That GM, Daniel, who was assigned to manage the store and other workers, was highly unprofessional and put it on a grand display for his employees to see. I would never return to this store again for the lack of integrity and gross lack of professionalism to which I was subjected. read more

So, where do I begin with these amazing guys? I am a disabled single mom who came to this location on an emergency basis back in May 2024 after I purchased a used Ford minivan and was not too comfortable with the way the brakes were acting. Although it wasn't an imminent threat at that exact moment, the brakes' response time was a little too slow for my comfort. I brought it to Mavis of Baisley and I was first greeted by Fahim and Duwane. Soon after, I met Mike the manager. They were pleasant and acted more like customer service reps than mechanics. No offense, but I have always encountered mechanics are more animated and social with what's under the hood and not the person who drives the car. The shop managers are usually the ones who act like the hosts of the party and do all the socializing. Not these guys. They were busy hustling on their jobs AND making great effort to smile, make eye contact, and treat me with respect and humanity. They updated me frequently without a sense of frustration until they were done. Then they brought me good news and told me that my brakes only needed a flush and brake fluid. I made the decision then to make them my official repair guys. Since then I came back and bought four new tires, and Mike the shop manager, Fahim, Jay. Louis and again, Fahim and Duwane treated me and my family like we were VIP customers. They remember your names, car, repair and upgrade history, and explain everything fifty times as if it were the first time if they have to. They make the environment friendly welcoming, and make you forget that you're there for car trouble. They treat their customers like family...no matter how cheesy it sounds. I am very happy to have chosen them as my official car folks, and I will be recommending this shop to everyone I know personally and publicly. You are all valued and appreciated. I went here in a sense of defeat. I ruined my tire while parking. I was traveling the next week and really needed my vehicle in top shape. When I arrive, I spoke with Reggie, he was nice, welcoming and informative. He gave a wait time for how long it would take them to assess the vehicle and contacted me when he had a clear plan forward. I needed a tire ordered due to the make and model of my car and Reggie took care of it. My car was ready within a day and I'm happy with the service I received. I told my mom to drive all the way from Brooklyn NY to Middletown ny so that the Guys at Mavis on Dolson Avenue Middletown ny can fix her car. Joseph and his crew did a great job. I spoke with my mom a week later asking her about the car and she said the guys did a great job her car drives like brand new. I also had an issue with my front passenger side tire and Austin took care of that issue ASAP now my 2014 Toyota Avalon drives like brand new as well. I will recommend friends and family any time to visit this Mavis on Dolson Avenue Middletown NY. They take the time to inspect and keep you posted on the work needed for your vehicle. I am only posting this from experience I never leave a five star where it does not belong. This Mavis made my mom's day and mine an A+. I understand long waits due to COVID but this was an exponentially long time. I waited more than 3 hours and I wasn't even seen, I'm a patient person but due to the pandemic there was no place to go other than sitting in your car and since they had my keys I endured 90+ degree weather with no air conditioning. I took my car to this location twice and the service here is horrible. You make an appointment and your car is never ready on time. I took my car the first time Sunday December 27, for a 9am scheduled appointment for front and rear brake pads and rotors. Waited in the shop all day until after 7pm only for the work not to be completed. I was told that the front was done but the back was not because they said that they needed a tool to take off the rear caliper. Which I found out later was a lie. The second time I brought my car to them after many failed appointments was in April to get the back brakes and rotors replaced. My appointment was set for 8am and didn't leave this time until well after 2pm. After the job was completed I noticed my car was making a noise so an appointment was scheduled to bring my car into a Volkswagen dealership to diagnosis the problem. The dealership sent me a video showing that the caliper clip was not put back on after the brakes were done along with a $200 invoice for parts and diagnosis. When I called back to Mavis I spoke to Douglas the manger, to explain the worker that worked on my car forgot to put the caliper clip on, he was very rude and unprofessional. It appears that Mavis chooses to conduct business this way with its customers and I no longer will be doing business with mavis again. I recommend nobody else should neither. read more

Um... Exactly what you'd expect patronizing anything on Baisley Blvd (if you know what I mean). Soooooooo... The manager(so he says) quickly pointed out that my car doesn't qualify for the brake special($59.99) without knowing what car I have (seriously). He then asked for my lic plate#, pulled up my svc records from another location and showed me where I previously paid $99.99 for my brake job (DUH! That was the promotion you guys were running at that time , 2 years ago!). Anywhoo, I decided to call another location, was told that they'd be able to do it and it would be either the advertised $59.99/ worst case scenario:$69.99 because of the car I have. Don't go !!!!!! Went there for my power steering issue. Picked up the car steering was still squeaking, told me give it a few days,there are some air bubble. NOT!!!!!! Lose my steering ability. Excellent service. The staff is efficient, friendly and courteous. The wait was reasonable considering there were a lot of cars to be serviced - not outrageous. The staff was informative, as well, letting me know what needed to be done as far as maintenance reminders -power steering, oil change, etc. I have no complaints...will be back again for routine inspection. read more

Should have walked back out the door when pricing tires the guy went straight for the highest priced tires and when I asked for price of cheaper ones guy behind the desk attitude changed. Even with his attitude I was still going to purchase tires from there . Things went left when I told him I only wanted to purchase the tires not get them installed , the guy behind the counter told me that I cannot purchase tires not being installed by Mavis with a credit card cash only ! Where do i start with this review. Horrible Customer service. I made an appointment last week for getting my tires replaced at 11am today and got a confirmation saying that it is all good to go. I drove 40 minutes from my home to reach there just to hear that the tires are not delivered yet and will be delivered at 2pm. Why would you give someone an appointment when you cannot even honor it. So i left the place and came back around 145 when the tires were delivered. Again no apologies and the guy took the keys and asked me to wait and said it should be done in about an hour. It took them freaking 1 1/2 hour to just pull in my car into their garage. They should have taken my car right away for service to honor my 11am appt for which they gave me trouble earlier. After a wait for about 3 hours they finally brought the car to me again with no apologies what so ever. Thats not all they filled the new tires with 41 psi where as the manufacturer suggested pressure for my car and the same tire size is 35 psi. Really? Wasted my entire day. Horrible experience. On 11/19/16 I took my 2013 Honda Accord for brake service at Mavis Discount Tire on Baisley Blvd. I left the car there for them to check the brake system and then call me to let me know what service needed to be done. The store staff called me several hours later to tell me that I needed brake pads and to flush the brake line. I agreed to the he service, paid the cost and left the store. Less than 1 week later as I was driving I heard a grinding noise. I called the shop and was told to bring the car in. When I got there after they inspected it the manager told me it was some rust on brakes that was rubbing against the pad. He said it was a common issue and told me they would clean it off and it should stop. Again about 2 weeks later the grinding continued and I brought the car back to now be told I needed rotors. The same manager informed me that would be additional $60 per rotor. I'm confused as to why twice before when the car was inspected not one person from Mavis told me I needed rotors but now that they pads they put on are malfunctioning now I need rotors. I declined the service because I no longer trust these mechanics or this company to service my vehicle. I had been a long time customer but as of today I will never come to ANY Mavis tire and I will advise everyone I know to do the same. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement; I'm sad (almost to tears as I'm typing) and I feel taken advantage of. I am a single mother and I drive my child in my car daily and to have a company take advantage of me and take my money (which I don't have to spare) is frightening. My son purchased 4 Michelin tires, and also requested alignment and balancing. He complained to his father that the car was wabbling. His father checked out and found that they installed all 4 tires inside out. I asked that the tires be replaced and that the balancing and alignment be redone. Since I would expect that if they did not install the tires properly that they would do the balancing and alignment! Cause sure enough they would have realized. The customer service service agent was very rude, to say the least. Extremely poor service! If I could give zero stars then that is what this place would be getting. read more
