Had two tires put on in April of this year (2022) and it's the end of July. I do a lot of driving, however, these tires Rocky sold me were supposedly, so he told me, rated at 45/50,000 miles. I purchased my vehicle in January at 100,000. My mileage is now at 136,000. That should tell you that these tires didn't even give me half that. I was sold junk tires. Now I have to buy new ones again. I called and spoke with Jeff today. I was supposed to hear right back from him after I gave him the information he needed to find it in the system (why can't he find it- I was JUST there?) and after he cashed out a customer. It's been about an hour now and I really don't expect to hear back from him at all. This is what happens all the time when businesses like this are questioned. I was lied to, plain and simple. I used Mavis in Elverson for my 1st "non-dealer" oil change on my 2016 vehicle. Pleased to say it was uneventful, cheaper and very efficient. Overpriced! Took my 2012 Ford F150 Platinum to have my 4 New tires (purchased online) to be mounted and balanced and was quoted $200.00. They were 20 inch tire 275/55/20. I walked out of the store and went to a local garage in my area who charged $20.00 a tire using the same computized equipment. $80.00 verse $200.00. Don't be fooled by the warranty gimmicks, the tire companies online i.e. SimpleTire, Tire Rack etc sell the extended warranties and road hazard plans much, much cheaper. I'm a Mechanical Engineer and do all my own automotive work. Unfortunely I don't have a tire balancer or bay lift. read more

Never again. Dropped car off for new tires, oil change, and inspection at 8:45 for a 9:00 "appointment". Called at 16:00 for an update and was told car wasn't touched but they'll be getting to it soon. Went to the shop at 18:00 to find my car hasn't moved from where I parked it. What is the point of an early appointment for a simple service if the plan is to work that car last? Took the car back, fortunately, before any of their mechanics could touch it. I was still left without the car for over 9 hours for a Job that's literally in the company name. I've never had a good experience here, but they were close. Used them out of pure convenience. They will always offer to put your car up on the lift for a "complimentary inspection " Beware!! As a former race motorcycle and race car driver and mechanic these companies like to "upsell" the unwary. You can take a new vehicle in there and they will advise a litany of maintenance items to "keep you safe and protect your investment" Ancillary services are wildly expensive. Tire prices and such are in line but $200-$250 to mount and balance tires purchased there is unreasonable and beyond local market norms. Keep in mind that staff is very helpful and very cordial and they have nothing to do with corporate policy. read more

wow is all I can say. dropped my car off at 9 am on a Sunday because I got a screw in it and needed it patched. called at noon and they said would be looking at it in next hour. stopped in at 4 to pick up and the guy who I spoke to in morning thought it was in for inspection. he was then like I'll get someone on it right away. if I wanted to sit and wait for it I would of done that in morning. on my last visit to have a wheel alignment and oil change done for one of my cars. First I did not receive a mileage sticker, and the car mileage was Not reprogrammed after the oil had been changed, the manager said " people make mistake what do you want me to say " Second, the problem with wheel alignment was not fixed. I brought the car back and explained that the problem was not fixed, but was told by Rob that the alignment was done in front of him and that the car my need a wheel-rotation. I left my car at the shop once again to have the wheels rotated. Rob would later admit that he knew the car was still pulling to the right "slightly" before charging me the full price for alignment, and giving me back the keys. However, when I picked up the car back again and drove away, it was very clear that nothing had changed, and that the car surely does not drive straight still. At this point, I came in for the third time and asked for the manager after I explained to one of the employees that I have a "little complaint". The employee left and came back telling me that I can't see the manager and that if I have a complaint I should tell her and she'd pass it on to the manager herself. After insisting to see the manager, Rob showed up with two pieces of papers and went on to tell me that according to his computer the alignment has been done properly. I told rob that I drove the car several times after and that it was still pulling to the right to which he responded "we did the alignment but I'm not a psychic or a magician to know why the car is still pulling". -Wow!- He would offer no further solution. I told Rob that he should know as a mechanic what the issue is or at least offer a solution to fix the problem which I payed him for. As my frustration I tried to express my disappointment in Rob's one-dimensional and repetitive reaction to my situation to which he responded by telling me that "I need to leave the store", and that I would not be getting my money back. When asked to see a higher up manger, rob responded saying that "this is my store" and I can go to corporate with my complaint. I left the shop feeling disappointed for having spent time and money over a problem that was not fixed, but I was more disappointed in how Rob handled the situation in which I had as a client to repeatedly explain to him that I'm not looking to have an argument with him but rather fix the problem that I payed him for. read more

We also expressed a concern with time since we were headed home to North Carolina this afternoon and had a 6+ hour drive ahead of us. Joe did the job himself and had us ready to go in just 15 minutes. I'm more than impressed with how Joe handled our situation. We were a bit wary of this location at first because we saw a 1 star yelp review but I couldn't ask anything more of your services. Everything was great. I discovered I had two flat tires (no kidding) at the adjacent Dunkin Donuts and was extremely relieved that Mavis was nearby and opening at 8 am. They actually opened for business at 7:50 which was a nice touch. All the guys were very friendly and helpful. So, I am generally very skeptical of car service suggestions especially because I come across as someone who knows little about car repair, which is true. I had already decided to get 4 new tires, and when the fellas were done asking me if I wanted this or that, and pointing out this clogged filter and that yellow brake fluid, my 4 new tires turned into a $700 bill. I am 99% sure I got the old shim sham and overpaid by a lot. However, I like my new tires and am choosing to embrace the 1% chance I got good value this morning. I went in to get tires and they told me I needed 10 different things done to my car, when I just had a thorough inspection done by my trusted mechanic who said I didn't need anything. Then when I went to pick up the car they told me the starter went bad and I needed a new starter that was gonna cost me another $300 and wouldn't be available until the next day, so I was left without a car for a day. This place is a friggin joke. Worst bait and switch, upsell, scam artists around. The problem is they sometimes have a good deal on the tires you're buying. You just have to play let's make a deal. Ask for a better price, act like you will buy somewhere else, and the price will change. Everything is negotiable here and they will try to sell you everything else your car probably doesn't need ( air filter, alignment, battery, etc) all at a huge markup. I recently decided to get 4 new tires for my car from Mavis. I was out of state and my car was being dropped of by my mom. I spoke with someone from the corporate side to set everything up i guess, was happy with that experience, but not with a single thing once it got to the actual location. My mom dropped it off, thats when the scam starts, Jimmy, before he even looks at the car starts in on alignment, 2 year old, Honda Accord, 34,000 miles, needs an alignment? I get a call several hours later telling me I need new, rear struts and they cant get parts till next day and then they'll do the alignment. He never talked cost, gave options, questioned why a almost new car would need struts? I asked Jimmy to slow down, what alignment, oh he talked to the woman who dropped off, I informed him that I owned the car, not her and any work added wasn't her call. I then asked him what all this was going to cost, another $630 for struts and $100 for alignment. I told him that the only thing he is allowed to do is mount tires and nothing else. When she went to pick it up, the bill was different then I was quoted, they give you a mount and balanced price, but then add in additional costs like valve stems. I was also charged for 4 tires recycle when I kept 2. It wasn't the few dollars I was overcharged, but the fact that when they saw a 70 year old woman drop a vehicle off, they saw dollar signs. She was ready to pay whatever they told her and would've been charged for over $700 in additional work that wasn't needed. I called Mavis to complain, they sent the complaint to the store manager Matt, nice guy who solved nothing. He said he couldn't fix price without my mom going back in and offered to do a free alignment. I told him they will never touch my car again and I wouldn't ask my mom to step back into his business for her refund. I feel that they saw an older women and saw an opportunity to charge for extra work. When I asked her did she approve the alignment, she said she thought it was included. Thats exactly how Jimmy talked to me and was my biggest complaint, Matt didn't even address the real problem that his guys are crooks. The service was very lazy. We got responses like "we dont know when it will be done" and similar things. I dropped my wife's car here for an oil change on 9/8. My wife's name and number were in their database so they called her and told her the car needed a new serpentine belt, plus the power steering needed to be serviced. She told Mavis she had to talk to me. When I returned to the shop they gave me the hard sell on the serpentine belt but the power steering service was never mentioned. They tried to upsell my wife on the power steering service because she is a woman. I caved on the serpentine belt, but now I don't think it was needed. They also charged 85 dollars for the oil change, including the more expensive synthetic oil I didn't ask for and an additional 14 dollars for "labor oil change", something I've literally never seen anywhere else. When I got the car back the Change Oil light was still on. I went back to the front desk and told the attendant. He came out, turned on the ignition, and gunned the engine a few times while staring into his phone. He announced "There it's off" and walked away with the engine still running. I turned off the engine, restarted the car, and the Change Oil light came on again. I reset it myself, which is easy enough to do, but it was clear Mavis didn't know how to reset a Change Oil light and didn't care. I wish I had read the reviews which said to avoid this place. Mavis Discount Tires is devious, careless, slimy, expensive, and they try to cheat women customers even more then the men. They burned me and tried to burn my wife even more. They won't burn us again because we'll never go there again. Mavis Discount Tires in Elverson deserves negative stars. The place is rotten. Update: I spoke to the Regional Manager who claimed I intimidated the staff too much for them to bring up the power steering flush. Really? They're just used to intimidating women. He had no explanation as to why the oil change cost 85 dollars, or why someone there can't reset a Check Oil light. I'm not taking it higher, because I don't want anything from them. There's no way they can fix their scummy treatment of customers. Take your car anywhere else. read more

Avoid this place at costs. I went to get an oil change and my tires rotated. They tried to upsell me on a bunch of things that didn't need to be done. A little over a week later I have lug nuts flying off. After my husband checked the lug nut we found we had lost 1 and 6 were loose! I needed a headlight replaced on my Volkswagen. Not only did Mavis get me in right away, but they only charged me $25. Another place quoted me almost $80 to get the light changed! I also really liked that they had large windows in the lobby so you can clearly see who is working on your car and what repairs they are completing. I liked this because I can be sure that I'm not paying for the mechanic to be on his phone or mess around with other employees! I was on the way to the shore with the kids as I'm driving my tire pressure sensor indicates that my passenger rear tire was low I was near the Morgantown exit decided to pull off and stop at the nearest gas station which happened to be a turkey hill to fill it up with some air. I was a little surprised as I just had replaced the tires not even a couple months ago so anyways I stop at the gas station I get gas I check my tires I fill the rear tire up which happened to be significantly low. I headed out not even a minute down the road my tire pressure sensor went off again sayingThe rear passenger tire again was low, as I pulled over to the nearest parking lot I seen the tire was low and I couldn't understand what was going on so I went around the back of the car and I got on the floor and when I looked underneath I was in shock the whole inside wall of the tire had blown out and I looked on the left and the left just look just as bad it wasn't blown out but you could see the thread showing. Since I was pulled over i Googled to see what the closest tire place would be and this particular location came up. Upon my arrival the manager had asked me if I had an appointment ? I showed him my car outside with a flat tire and I explained to him what had happened and told me he be able to help me out he pulled my car into the bay and in about a half an hour later he came out and he told me that all he didn't have tires that would match but he did have something that he could offer to so that I can get back on the road. I told him I wanted to replace both rear tires. Another hour later told me what the price would be and that it was close to $600. I was baffled by the amount and asked him why it was so expensive. He told me that he had included an alignment and other services in the quote that I never asked for. This place is a complete scam it is the worst experience I have ever Had in my life they completely try to take it vantage of me at the worst possible time. I asked my daughter to take one of our three vehicles (Toyota Camry) there for an oil change. Big mistake!!! $68 for an oil change! Lots of BS charges and obviously took advantage of a young female. The first needed rear brakes to pass which I believe but they were $90! to replace. Then our second vehicle(was out of date so we were there to get done on a Sunday) they claimed failed due to a bad lower ball joint. & they also said it needed brakes, rotors & an alignment- adding up to $1000 worth of work. Declined & it took it to a reputable mechanic with a great reputation the next day & guess what...it didn't need anything to pass. Don't make any plans for the day! I called early on a regular (non-holiday) Saturday morning. The guy told me it wasn't even busy yet, and did I want him to open a service ticket. I said yes and that I'd be there in 15 minutes. I had 2 snow tires I needed mounted. It took 2.5 hours!!! The place has 7 work bays and all were filled. I heard a customer paying out say, "I just don't like being lied to. The guy on the phone who opened the service ticket said that you weren't busy." The counter woman (who was very nice) said that the phone guy is based in New York City, and has no idea whether this location is busy or not - his job is to get people to show up with a service ticket #. I'm sure they do good mechanical work but they are not honest about pulling customers in. When I was paying out, there was a 3rd customer who was there since I arrived. I said to him, "2.5 hours to change 2 tires!" He replied, "I've got you beat. I've been here for 5 hours!!! getting 4 tires changed. They were short one tire in stock." (OMG!) My regular M-town tire shop is closed on Saturdays, but I have never waited more than 30 minutes (usually 15 minutes) to change and spin-balance 4 tires. Also, Mavis likes to try to sell more service $$$$ than what you came in for. Pretty balloons out front, but 1 time was enough for me. read more

I would definitely NOT recommend this place. We tried it twice and won't bother wasting a third time. First time the tire quote was $260 higher than our regular guy, and they tried to add on all kinds of other fees that didn't need to be done. Go to Martin's for your tires instead, they did a great job and they were fast too. Second time, we took our 2005 truck there to get inspected for sale and the guy at the counter was rude and judgmental and treated us like we and the truck were junk. He gave us a list a mile long of things that he said had to be fixed for inspection, and they did not, but he didn't even give us a quote to fix anything even though he had the truck for 4 hours. I guess he was too important to bother taking our job. When I asked for the quote he said that would take more time for him to pull up all the parts. He didn't want to explain anything on the list, it was like pulling teeth to have him go over it, and he used unprofessional terms like saying the truck was rotting instead of had rust, which we already knew because it's an older truck. He over exaggerated everything, then he actually told our potential buyer on the phone not to buy it before the buyer even saw the list of repairs or spoke with us. I wish I had read the multitude of negative reviews about this place before setting foot in there. The customer service was horrific and the inspection work was blatantly wrong.
