I knew I didn't really have any problems with my brakes but thought to let them take a look. It got up on the lift and sat there for 40 minutes. This guys Christopher (black dude) wearing white shirt maybe he's the manager try to CON me. Told me I need rotors and it's warped. I went to inspect and it looked fine. Try to tell me I need 4 rotors but the pads were fine! I don't think that's possible. Really tried to scam me thinking I don't know nothing. When I went in, I asked how much to change pads on Honda CRV. Was told $150 for each axle. Not sure if that was really a good price but if only pads should be like $80 front and back each? Anyway, he wanted business just tryna scam me!! Don't go there. I think all these Mavis's do the same This place looks nice but it's a complete scam. I called and explained in detail that my tire was shredded and I was driving on a donut and needed a new tire. I specified the make and model of the car and tire and made an appointment. When I arrived I waited 45 minutes to be told I need a new tire which would have to be ordered and that they weren't aware I needed a tire and thought I wanted them to "check" my tires. I Make another appointment and go in the next day wait another hour and they say the ordered the wrong tire. Have to go back a third time. Then they actually replaced the tire and the sensor light is still on making it a fourth trip back to Mavis for a tire. They were nice enough but just an incompetent experience for me. read more

My review is for the female at the front desk...what is she doing working in customer service? She is rude, ornery and lazy. Why is this behavior tolerated? I've noticed this on every visit there. Doesn't greet you, just glares. Acts like she is doing you a favor. Chris is a good manager he must see this behavior. I feel like I would be doing a dis service to everyone in the community if I do not post this I know it's a lot but please take the time to read this might save you from making a mistake , So I came here for an oil change and the same day coincidentally I have now a screw in my tire making me loose air pressure at an alarming rate which led to me having to go somewhere to get it patched the next day , you would think but when I call the next day in the morning I was told I'd be attended to right away since it's early and not so busy next thing u know I'm told I have to wait an hour or so , ok whatever.then after the hour goes by I get a call talking about how I can't patch that tire due to the positioning of the screw and now I need to look into a new tire replacement that is going to cost me over 200$ They then remove my current tire with the screw and leave me with my spare temporary wheel ,I was told by the mechanic that it would arrive on Monday and then shortly after I get told that now I'd have to wait till Wednesday inconveniencing me even more,best part was they tried to stay with my wheel that had the screw in it when I called back and asked can I get my wheel back the lady I believe to be the manger says she thinks not? I quickly responded that's sounds very weird for me not to be able to take back what's rightfully mine , she quickly responds with attitude I can come get it if I want so that's what I did , I take my car with the tire to another shop just to be told it can easily be patched up for 25$ don't trust these people don't do business with them they are scamming and this should be illegal fraud! read more

Had great experience - brought in my car on Sunday. Made an appointment online but called ahead to let them know I'd be late, which they said was no problem. I used to go to Mavis in Jersey City, but saw good reviews at Bayonne Ended up getting my tire patched for $40, which was done in about 1 hour. I did not have a positive experience when visiting Mavis Bayonne today. I went there for an oil change and the attendant said I also needed to replace my rear brakes and rotors and the total was going to be $90 for the oil change plus $350 for the brakes and rotors (just rear, not all 4). I immediately said no, but the employee kept trying to offer me deals, being pushy like a salesperson but he finally gave up and understood that I just wanted my oil changed. When they were about to do the oil change the guy said that the cap wasn't closed properly last time I had an oil change, so he was unable to open it. I finally gave up and decided to leave. Later, I took my car to another shop and the guy said that I didn't need my brakes replaced at this time. It's probably something I should look into next year. And he had no issues replacing my oil. I do not recommend Mavis Bayonne and I will never go back. read more

No place is perfect, because we are all human. I've been to places where they forget to provide this or that minor thing, or you ask them to check x or y, and they forget. We all know this. With that being said, I can honestly say I have had great experiences at Mavis in Bayonne. I don't trust people easily, so this is saying a lot. I have gotten excellent customer service that is respectful, polite, and straight-forward on each of three visits over the last few months. If you follow up and ask questions on something, they go back and make sure everything was done right, whether it was to check the tire pressure, or verify whether they checked something you asked. Here's a fun story ... when I was there last time waiting for my oil change, a customer came in and asked if his old tire was there (they had removed a spare tire some months ago and replaced it with a new one, and after they checked to see the spare was ok to put back, they must have forgotten to put it back in the trunk). So the customer was cleaning out his trunk and came back for the spare, hoping it was at the shop. Not only did they check his tires to make sure they were ok still, but they tracked down the spare, apologized and sent him on his way, happy. This is why I love this story. Like I said, humans make mistakes, and a busy shop is busy with lots of variables. Not only did one of the guys remember the customer and expedite finding the old tire, but checked in and said hi and asked for his grandmother (she had dropped him off for the repair). The guys are nice but everything takes forever and there's always that one person who claims to have done the job but never actually did it. If the manager weren't so nice and if he didn't back up my claim, this review would be a lot worse. One of the many Bayonne craters wrecked my tires, so I made an appointment to have all 4 replaced. I needed an oil change as well so I had them add that on, and I needed rear shocks and an alignment. I waited hours for everything to be done. They're always packed, probably because the prices are good. The tires were cheaper than what I was quoted at Costco. I did say that I had to be out of there by 5 the latest because I had a function to attend that evening, and they did get me out - but I had to return the next day for the shocks, which was another 3 hour ordeal. I noticed the car was still telling me to change the oil. I wasn't sure if they just didn't reset the computer or if they truly didn't change it. After it cooled down I checked it, and sure enough, it hadn't been changed. I told the manager and he changed it when I brought it back the next day for the shocks. I wasn't happy about the time suck (all day Friday, over 3 hours on Saturday) but at least it's done. It's good to know the manager stands behind the work. Just double check everything. read more

We've come here twice. Quoted one price before getting work done and then quoted a different price after the work was complete. One was for an oil change. Brought our Jeep in and then our hyundai a few days later and they were quoting more expensive pricing for the Hyundai. Went in for a battery, got one price over the phone then arrived and was told a whole different price. Double check pricing and receipt when coming here. read more

Came here this morning unexpectedly, because my tires were all showing low pressure. I knew that it could be more than just the colder weather, so decided to check Mavis out. For a rainy Tuesday - they had a waiting room full of customers. I think this speaks for itself. I had no appointment, but was hopeful they could help me. I was in and out in a little over an hour. Emmani, Bernard, and Ray (technician) went out of their way to get me out there in a timely manner. They are friendly, personable, and attentive. This place has unfortunately gone done hill from when I first started bringing my car here. Appointment times aren't honored or even in the system (it's happened twice where I had to request some sort of confirmation and bring my car in another day bc they were so over booked with appointments). Car still squeaks after having new rotors and brakes installed in front and back (told this was normal). My car still squeaks months later and never had prior to this work. I get my car maintenance regularly for oil changes and tire rotations etc. so it boggles my mind. The last two times I got an oil change I had to bring my car back because they didn't reset the system. My fiancé brought his car here for an 8AM appointment and was told no it was 9AM. Okay, told them 3x for a tire rotation. When we called for an update at 10:30 was told the car was just going in and they didn't know it needed a tire rotation. Guy at check in was half asleep apparently and didn't get being asked multiple times. Went to pick up at 11:45 and they were still finishing up. Really not sure what's going on with check ins and bookings but it's a constant problem the last handful of times I've been and unfortunately will not be back unless it's for brakes and rotors bc those are covered under warranty. I will say whenever I have gone the front guys are friendly working and the manager is nice and always apologetic if anything wrong does happen but still something happens constantly the last handful of times I've gone it's a no for me. read more

Guys, I looked up different shops throughout Bayonne and this is HIGHLY RATED FOR A REASON. I called in earlier today to make an appointment and when I came, I was greeted by BERNARD. BERNARD was super FRIENDLY and POLITE and also very DIRECT (Great qualities in my opinion). He said there was a lot of cars today and so things are delayed. Fortunately for me, I had my Donut tire on and I asked if I could come back later, since I didn't want to wait around. He said that's fine and after an hour I called in once to see how the work flow is, and Bernard said to come in another hour. I come in an hour later and he takes care of my need - RIGHT AWAY. *Context Story: I had gotten a flat tire last night, from a 3" screw, with the fat part INSIDE the tire. Air leaked out fast. (TIP to those that it applies to: I am leasing a KIA, so I was able to get 24/7 Kia Roadside assistance to swap out the flat with the donut tire - covered by kia!)* So RICHARD, the tire tech at Mavis, went straight to work. He lifted the car up, took the flat tire from the trunk, unmounted the tire from the rims (?), dislodged the screw and patched up the tire and put it all back together. I would estimate he did this in 10-20minutes! RICHARD was QUICK and EFFICIENT, which could only come from expansive experience. He took the donut out and placed it back under the car. I will be coming back here for ALL my tire needs in the future. I'm so thankful for BERNARD AND RICHARD - taking good care of me and the car. THANK YOU GUYS! read more

Mavis Tire in Bayonne is an excellent place to get work done on your car or just get a slow leak fixed on a tire. The courteous and pleasant staff are always helpful. The waiting area is clean and comfortable. They do very good work and finish by the time they quote with a price that is fair and also within or as much as they quote. Attempted to replace all four tires, one of which was flat , so I was riding on my donut. Needed to get this done same day, as we had planned events the following day. Tried the Costco in Bayonne first, but the guy in the tire center seemed like we were disturbing him. They didn't have tires to fit my A4. Googled what options were around me and found Mavis. Called and was told that they could replaced all tires same day. Stephanie was at the front desk and was so helpful. She was able to order the tires from another location to be delivered to her location. It took a few hours but they finally came. It was 5PM (their closing hour was posted as 6PM), but she checked with her crew and they said they could do it. It was after 6PM when they were done. I can appreciate how they do not allow you to park anywhere out front that could cause someone to be blocked in, the front of the business remains uncluttered with cars. All of the staff is extremely kind but assertive. When I made my reservation I was reminded numerous times by email, text, and phone call. My car was taken care of in the time frame I was told. I went to them 50 mins before closing time for them to take out 1 nail in each of my rear tires and to plug the holes. I asked the mechanic for the price of the service before he started and I was told $20 for plugging both tires! I obviously agreed because that sounds reasonable! After the service was done the manager called me over to ring me up and he told me the total was going to be $70!!! I reacted the same way anyone else would and explained to him that his mechanic told me $20 before the service and that im not paying $70 for 2 simple tire plugs that would cost me $10 from Autozone! He then called the cops and when they arrived we both explained our sides of the story but he still insisted on me paying the full $70, but at that point it wasnt even about the money for me. It was the principle and the customer service that mattered more to me, as I was already willing to tip the mechanic $10 for taking me in 50 mins before closing! The only solution the manager came up with is that he wont charge me if he unplugs each hole in the 2 rear tires (1 hole each). And due to the fact that he wanted to go to such lengths to not provide me with reasonable customer service, I didn't wanna pay him a penny so I agreed to unplugging the tires. After everything was done with and my 2 tires were flat, I slowly drove across the street to autozone and the employee there offered to plug my tire for free since i purchased a plug from them! This just goes to show how much Mavis doesnt care about their customers and only want to scam/overcharge people who arent aware with how things work! I really hope the $20-$50 was worth losing multiple customers and putting the mechanic in a bad position infront of everyone! read more
