I visited The Tobacco Shoppe on Northland Dr. this week after work. I heard from a friend that they…read morecarried my favorite Punch Cigar and, seeing as its closer than the other cigar shops in GR, I decided to check it out. The main shop is well stocked. They have dozens of Hookahs and alternative smoking accessories. Lots of cigar accessories; cutters, small humidors, hygrometers, etc. I skipped all of that and went right to the walk-in humidor. The walk-in looked and smelled brand new (i'm sure it was) and was 1/4 full of cigars. While I was poking around one of the managing partners was labeling, pricing, and stocking new brands. It was obvious they had only been open a week and had a lot of room to grow. The cigars that were available represented a diverse selection in brands, sizes, wrappers, and prices. I think the least expensive stick I saw in the line was $3.25 and the highest was $21. Neither I remember as they weren't in my usual shopping range. I did purchase a Punch Pita Madura and EMS for $6.75 ea. They have a buy 4 get 1 free for most of the sticks in the walk-in and I took advantage picking up an Onyx Reserve no 4, Padermo Lot 23, and some oddballs that looked tasty. After discount, prices were comparable to any other cigar shop in Grand Rapids. I look forward to seeing them fill up that humidor. I am planning on making some suggestions. The staff were courteous, the place was impeccably clean, and the accessories were plentiful. I WILL return here simply because its close to my house and stock a decent selection already. I would recommend others do as well. Of course, you can beat their prices buying bulk online. But not everyone wants to do that. I say, shop local, make friends, and hope they give you free stuff. Just my opinion. Nick

Wandering around downtown during my "Christmas break," Nate and I stopped in to a few shops we…read morehadn't visited yet, including Greyson Clothiers which opened in November 2024. First just know that this is a high end fashion brand. I knew that I am not their target demographic going in, but I didn't love the experience at the store. We were not greeted when we walked in, nor were we paid any attention to at any time while we were there. No "welcome in, let us know if you have any questions," etc. Unfortunate because I would have loved to learn more about the brand and their plans for the space, as it looked like they were going to be doing something cool towards the back of the store. I did love the vibe of the store - a dark, moody, academia aesthetic - but I felt so unwelcome that it made me not want to spend much time there. Plus the shirt I looked at was $300 (again, not the target demographic haha). The apparel was very cool and they even had some kids items and Lions gear. Even though this isn't a place for me and I didn't have a great experience, I encourage anyone who is interested to check it out as it is a unique offering in the downtown area.

They do alterations, special orders and other services like that. The people here or in general incredibly friendly. What really stops this from being five star review are two things. First of all the price, it's pretty high. $50 for a pair of pants is a little crazy (but they are good pantsg but they come in many many sizes. The other is a habit that they have when you check out, they come out from behind the counter to give you your bag and then walk you out. It feels vaguely like they don't trust you to leave and just hand you your goods after you paid for them and Leave.

The female employee was most helpful however I felt so sorry for her because she was running herself ragged trying to help all the other people in the store. The male employee spent most of his time behind the counter or standing in the suit area waiting for someone to come in I felt that was really wrong and he should've been walking around the store like she was helping other patrons rather than standing there basically doing nothing. I found that he was rather rude to the female employee and often very abrupt in his answers. I spent almost $2000 in the store and that female employee helped me with every single thing I would have given them five stars but I had to deduct one because of that poor choice of a male employee.
