Our wedding planning was plagued…read morewith constantly changing COVID regulations and I was full of anxiety about how our big day would go. Allison and Sarah could not have been more comforting and proactive. Over email, phone, and video call, they put my mind at ease and I felt so prepared the day of my wedding, no matter what restrictions were in place. Allison could not have done a better job the day of. She built a great rapport with my family, bridal party, and the venue's event manager to ensure the day ran smoothly. She knew the schedule and set up like the back of her hand. When the timing of certain day-of activities changed last minute, she made sure to let me know of the changes and the night went on without issue. If it were not for COVID and my anxieties around how it would affect our wedding I likely would not have looked for an outside coordinator- our venue did provide one that began to work closely with us (and Allison) in the month or so before the wedding and I truly believe she would have done a comparable job in the day-of execution. But it's the long term commitment to the planning process that makes Without a Hitch special. And while our venue did not host many weddings during COVID, Without a Hitch planned so many, and had the experience and suggestions that made the wedding feel as normal as it possibly could. For any of my friends planning weddings at a less conventional venue or just want more support, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Without a Hitch, and more specifically Allison!

I would turn to Without a Hitch for any major event and know I can trust them to care about the details as much as I do.

That's when I knew we were going to be an unstoppable team! One of the best decisions I made during the whole wedding process was hiring a wedding planner. I knew I had to have some help given my tall order of must haves. From dress appointments, invitations, music lists, venue appoitments - you name it and she was there. Helping me, guiding me and most importantly making sure that I was on budget, on schedule and excited about the entire process. She knew exactly what my vision was even when I'm sure I wasn't explaining it very well, haha. She had amazing design recommendations, helped contact vendors, and was great on offering ideas to save money! I wanted my wedding to be unique and she was great in achieving that. She made my life SO easy and I couldn't imaging doing all of that work by myself! People approached me the week before and day of the wedding and said that I didn't look stressed at all...I wasn't! I knew everything would turn out perfect and stress free because I had Erica. I enjoyed every second of our day:) I have attended weddings since then that did not have a wedding coordinator and I just thought to my self, "I am so thankful that I had Erica!" Months after, we are still receiving so many compliments on our wedding and I know it wouldn't have gone as smoothly or beautifully without her.

On the three occasions that I've been to an event produced by Two Birds Events, I was VERY…read moreimpressed by two key things: 1) Their principal planner, Erica, has VERY good taste in all things. What first come to mind are her spot-on good taste in cocktails, unique and tasty appetizers, and themed elements/themed pairings of drinks and food. The event's theme or themes are visible in the choices of food, drink and decorations, and the event becomes more memorable as a result. 2) Every detail is well thought-out, from the event schedule to the placement of food and drink and seating. I've never once had the feeling at an engagement planned by Two Birds Events that the room was too stuffy or too empty. There is always the appropriate amount of people, food, beverages, music volume, lighting, et cetera. It's rare to leave an event without a single complaint, but I've left their events feeling that they were flawless every single time. Two Birds Events is a planning firm that I would trust to plan an event from start to finish, and I wouldn't have to worry about one single detail. I wouldn't feel the need to micromanage because everything is thought about and planned for beforehand. That ability to delegate and have faith in one's planner is exceedingly rare, and Two Birds Events deserved applause for providing this kind of peace of mind, as it is exceedingly rare in the hyper-stressful, detail-oriented business of event planning. If you want your event to be flawless and stress-free, you know who to call.

I have never planned a wedding before or helped in planning a wedding so I was not sure what to expect. She created a timeline as well as set an expectation of when everything needed to be executed, e.g. when the save the date should be sent, invitations sent, menus set, everything. Julie designed the seating plan, the ceremony as well as a bak-up plan in case it rained, which it did. She was incredibly creative and made me feel confident with my choices. I can't really say enough how much attention to detail Julie gave, down to the timeline of events on the day of the wedding. She made sure that I was comfortable and taken care of on the day of the wedding, as well as my guests. Thank you, Julie! I strongly recommend her.

She shot our close friends' wedding and I was in their enormous wedding party. She handled all (18!) of us with calm assurance. The resulting photos were incredible. We actually ended up using one of the photos of us from that wedding as our engagement photo. I'm a professional event planner and have worked with many excellent photographers. What I really appreciated about Maureen's work was her ability to capture really touching candids - and really fun "formals". We decided against interviewing lots of photographers and booked Maureen after one meeting. It was a perk that she gave an LGBT community discount. We set up a Pinterest board shared with Maureen and proceeded to pin all kinds of wedding photos that we liked (including weddings at your venue). We threw in a few really fun and quirky shots that really fit our fall theme. The day of the wedding her and her assistant magically made those moments happen. We brought huge bins of pressed autumn oak leaves which she put to great use - including a fun montage throwing leaves with our nephews, a stunning photo of us laying on a bed of leaves and an incredible candid of us laughing as leaves rain down on us. Maureen's photos speak for themselves - but you also get a real professional who manages to be everywhere yet not ever in the way. Oh, and she uploaded a few images to Facebook that night, emailed a dozen more the next day and uploaded the rest of the images (over 850!) just 2.5 weeks after the wedding! After all the horror stories I've heard about couples waiting months (or longer) it was awesome to receive the images so quickly. She, with our permission, also uploaded many of them to her Facebook page making it really easy to share them with friends and family. If you're looking for a really great, creative and fun to work with photographer - you should definitely book Maureen Cotton.

For the sake of full disclosure, I need…read moreto point out right up front that she's been a close friend of my wife's for many years, and has become a friend of mine as well. Thank goodness she was, too. If we didn't know her, we might not have found her, and that would have been a huge loss. Other folks have talked plenty about how easy Maureen is to work with, and it's all true. She manages to walk the very fine line between friendly and professional, she has unfailing energy, and a can-do attitude. You know how the Marines talk about Improvising, Adapting and Overcoming? She has exactly that mindset. But here's the ONE most important thing when selecting a photographer. Her photos make us look good. Each picture tells a story. Some are epic, some are intimate, some are joyous or thoughtful or profound. There's the one of the two of us in front of a window that looks like a French new-wave movie (seriously, she made me look like Yves Montand, it was great!). There's the one of me and my Best Man locked in serious discussion before the wedding that's so dramatic my father-in-law refers to it as a "Jack and Bobby" shot. There's the one from our engagement shoot that sits near the door of our apartment, a photo we look at every time we come home, that I won't describe because I can't do it justice. Suffice to say it exactly captures the way I feel about the woman I love. And that is the great intangible about Maureen Cotton's art. She didn't just capture the moments of one of the best days of our life. She captured, perfectly, the way I felt during them. The smartest thing I did in regards to my wedding was convince Becky to marry me. The second smartest thing I did was agree when she said she wanted her dear friend, now our dear friend, Maureen Cotton to photograph it.
