Jan 27,2024 - Saturday We ordered movers about 2-weeks ago from our move out date. He kept in contact with us and confirmed a date. Prior to our move date he was able to stop by our location to provide an estimate of how much it would cost to move our things. We were informed that this would be a 2-men job. We're located in Kihei (South Pointe) & we needed our items to be transferred to Extra Storage Space (Kahului). Dirk was present since he was the truck driver along with 2 movers. To ease our move everything was laid out in our living room so that they can come in take the items that needed to be packed. We did ask if it would be possible to take some items down but load it into the bed of truck. Thankfully they were able to do that for us which I am grateful especially since we're a household of women lol. Not to say I couldn't lift it BUT I realized the way we've packed our items it was HELLA heavy, like imma big b*tch BUT I couldn't LOL. So I appreciate the assist, we also live in an upstairs unit stairs really got us all. Everyone was professional & friendly. These two men moved everything within a good time frame. We only took about 4-hrs to get the job done. I am going to order them again next month to transfer the same items from our storage to our new location. Three men showed up at 8:15am. The boss also came with them and sat in the truck most of the time, walked around our house and used our restroom - but otherwise maybe was just there to supervise the men? Although, if he was there to supervise it was unnecessary because the three men were fabulous humans. The men worked hard and fast to unload the entirety of our 40' container. All three of these guys were not only hard workers but also careful with our stuff and considerate of placement in the house. They worked hard! They asked where to place items, helped each other navigate walls and breakable items. Nothing was damaged. They were thoughtful on how to fit large items into doorways. We really are thankful for how fast they worked and how careful they were with our items. Thank you Maui Movers. We feel the price is fair for the speed and care. In full transparency you do pay the same moving rate for driving time. For us that was: Kula to Kahului to Haliimaile to Kahului to Kula. (See attached invoice). After losing several times, I phoned Dirk, the CEO of Maui Movers. He came to my house in the middle of a fucking jungle as it rained about 17" per hour and gave me a swift verbal estimate. He followed up within 24 hours with a written estimate and plan of attack while giving me a few things to think about as I moved my large, heavy Mainland furniture. His team was phenomenal. When I wanted to help, they very politely asked me to let them take care of it. I had weird shit, old shit, awkward shit and heavy shit that needed to be moved. They did it all without complaint and no need for instruction. The proprietor is an antique collector and understands the importance of proper furniture handling. This company scammed us and this ended up costing me not only thousands of dollars, but they backed out of the move 1 day prior. The domino effect from a moving company backing out last minute...I may not need to tell you the movers worst nightmare- We have a 4 bedroom house to pack and move 45 miles on Uhaul. Maui Movers didnt show up. Beware of this firm. I got taken to court by the landlord bc we didnt vacate on time, that costs me hundreds, Finding a back up moving company was impossible so it took us 3 weeks to do this in small trips. I had to call in sick with work. It was a disaster. I cant even begin to list the horrible consequences this had. Stay away from this company is all i can say. I had doulble and triple confirmed the rates with the owner, but he backed out. To this day I think someone offered him more money to move on May 1 and so he dumped us and took a better paying job. I called about a small local move less that 2 miles, no stairs. I said it would take an hour at most. They said it would be $600 as they had to send 3 people even though I said it would only take one. And on top of the $600 he said I'd be charged for trace from their home to the location. How to move to or from Maui, Hawaii, to or from the mainland We made five major moves in the last 10 years - California coast to the Sierras, back to Mendocino, then to Boulder, then to Maui, then back to the California coast. By far the hardest moves were to and from Hawaii. Here's how we did it. First, if you don't have much stuff or can get rid of enough stuff, use a pod. But if you have more stuff, as we did, for the move to Maui, call Matson. They will deliver the containers wherever you want. You will need to hire local movers to load them. Then Matson will pick them up and deliver them to Maui, or whatever island you are moving to. You have to hire a local Maui trucker to deliver them to your place. We used Kahului Trucking, which has very good drivers who know where they can park the container. They also have a moving service that will unload your stuff, which we used on the move in. They are OK, but Maui Movers would be better. For the move from Maui, call Matson again. Also, you'll need Kahului Trucking to get the containers to your place - Matson is not allowed to provide that service on Maui. Then call Maui Movers to load the containers. They are way cheaper than Island Movers or Royal Hawaiian, and Herb is a genius at loading the containers so your stuff can survive the 20' waves it will encounter on the way to the West Coast. Once your stuff gets to the Coast, Matson will deliver the containers to your home. You will need to hire local movers to unload. In the San Francisco Bay Area, try Delancy Streeet Moving first. They always are terrific and price competitive. I read the recent negative review of Maui Movers, and I must say that was a long way from our experience. Dirk offered to bid our job at a fixed price or a per-hour price. I took per-hour, because we had a difficult move involving two pick-up locations, and I believe taking the risk out of a miss-bid is better for both sides. Each day, agree with Dirk what time they arrived and what time they stopped, and you won't be surprised by the bill. We were very pleased with Maui Movers' packing job. The guys were fast and competent, with a great attitude. They packed some expensive furniture and art works that we didn't feel competent to tackle. All of our stuff made it the 2,500 miles to California without any breakage or problem. Highly recommended. read more

Never used a moving service for anything in my life. They were super helpful over the phone, answered any questions and offered an estimate (which was very spot on) before even seeing me. The team sent plenty of communication and tips while waiting for the move, offered many extra services for great rates (I.e. mattress covers) and were great to work with. This moving company is exceptional. Maui Movers came out to our home and walked through to give us an estimate. They had three guys show up as promised and they are very efficient and they take really careful care to not damage anything including the walls and floors of our home and new home. We just moved to Maui and we used Maui Movers to empty our 20 ft Matson container. My husband picked them over other companies he contacted as he said that Dirk was the most straight forward and professional of them all. We did not regret it. They came on time, did a fantastic job, were very careful with our things, ask questions as to where to put boxes and else and everything with a smile and no complaints (and we had really heavy stuff and a lot of boxes). He also recommended a good trucking company to help with our container pickup. He came out to look at the storage unit to advise on the positioning of the container prior to the job as well. I needed help getting a small amount of household goods to the dock for shipping to Maui. I made all my own arrangements with Young Bros for the shipping. I called Dirk with Maui Movers to see if he could help out and he was able to take care of everything else I needed. He provided two guys, who were both excellent, and a truck to get everything down to the dock. As a huge plus, when he got to my house to load up, he told me the load was small enough that I could use a smaller container. I was able to change the reservation with YB and Dirk saved me about $500!! He was reliable, easy to deal with, returned calls and texts promptly and his workers were great. They helped pack up some last minute items and got to the dock ahead of schedule then loaded the container like real pros! The whole move was easier and quicker than I anticipated. Used these guys awhile back. The crew was excellent but the owner was a real disagreeable guy. Said there would be 3 guys, there was only 2, the 3rd being him and he's only got one arm on top of being old and out of shape. I asked him if he could cut me a deal but no. And he charges a minimum of 2 hours which was all drive time, he charges $175 an hour so $350 just to drive to my house and then to drive back to his "base yard" and he didn't tell my wife he charges for drive time, and he milks the clock, kept telling my wife what he thought should be done with everything and moving several things around several different times. These guys were awesome! Dirk came to our house prior to us agreeing to have them do the move, explained how all of the charges worked, how many men would be there, and what time they could arrive. Our move was on a Saturday which some companies won't even do, but Dirk and his crew showed up right on time, I think they were even a few minutes early. I don't think the guys stopped working once, maybe to drink some water or something but they got right down to it. They drove the stuff to our new home and right away everything was quickly moved in. Another thing that was fantastic is they helped set up everything that needed to be put together. We have an L shaped couch that has a thing that connects it, a King Sized bead that has all of those kinds of parts that when I try to set it up myself I always have a few pieces left over that I'm not sure where they go, but these guys really knew what they were doing. They were fast, courteous, and respectful of our stuff, basically treated it as if it were their own, and that's really all I could ask for. I don't plan on moving again for a while but I would highly recommend them and will be using them again in the near future for some furniture orders I have had fright forwarded from the Mainland. Then out of desperation I contacted a moving business from CL which turned out to be scammers..so beware when someone promises you a true moving truck then later informs you that their moving truck has broken down and will send a pick up truck. So I called Dirk and even though he was already doing a job, he kindly offered the spare hours he had to help me move all my belongings without question. Dirk is a KIND and a good hearted man, he didn't have to help me at all. His boys are strong and quick, polite, and very courteous.
