Updating my review from 1 star to 4, because Rowena single handedly made the delivery happen. If it wasn't for her, we'd still be without a fridge! Mahalo for your efforts!!! ---- No communication. Was supposed to have a fridge delivered but Home Depot gave them the wrong address so they cancelled delivery after I took a day off from work. They are not purely at fault since it was a mistake on Home Depot's end but their reluctance to fix the problem due to some idiot's typo of the address is unreal. The next day we are told by Home Depot they have the correct address and Island Movers tell me they are 10 mins out but never arrive! My husband took the day off to wait for them, had the door wide open, off the hinges, waiting. They probably still went to the wrong address. We are without fridge, spoiled food. read more

The did Thousands of dollars of damages to our Aunties property and then their insurance company is trying to pay as little as possible. The owner knowing this has not stepped forward to correct Island Insurance very bad business practices making him also responsible for being negligent. We do not recommend this company until he the owner who seems nice corrects it. read more

Island Movers delivered a large refrigerator and easy chair that we ordered online with Costco to our home. The two young men who delivered our order were respectful, kind and fast. They explained the use of our refrigerator and did a fantastic job. read more

I ordered some appliances thru Costco then Home Depot and both companies contracted Island Movers to deliver. Both times my experience has always been great. The first delivery was a washer and dryer. There were three guys and they were efficient, while 1 set up the other two worked on bringing up the other appliance. While they were putting it in they mentioned I needed a longer dryer vent, so they advised me to go to Ace and just ask for a dryer vent. They were real nice and professional. The second deliver was for a stove. They were in and out in less than 15 minutes. I would definitely consider them when it comes time to moving after these two experiences. read more

They require a waiver absolving themselves of any damage to your home, property or belongings before they do anything. Why would a business require this if properly insured and capable? They held my Costco order i had been waiting months for hostage and when I would not sign a waiver they refused to deliver my appliance. Now waiting on Costco to deliver another I called and asked for manager and no one called back. . Why Costco would use such a delivery service is behind me since they told me a waiver is never required. read more

Great price, great service. After moving a shipping container between the port and my house, they overcharged me $8.00. They called several times and left a message apologizing and explaining what happened. I just tried to schedule a delivery for a refrigerator from Costco. A large French Door Refrigerator which I need right away. After learning that they still contract with Island Movers, I cancelled the order! This company should NOT be connected with Costco! They came to my home a year ago with a delivery, did not even bring a measuring tape? Told me they would have to take apart my bannister and front entry? What? I asked them why not just remove the refrigerator doors? They came with no dolly? What??? I sent them away, Cancelled that order. I refused to sign their "Waiver" and will Not be doing appliance ordering from Costco if this is the company they continue to use on Maui. Their Business is Moving...and they Require a Waive to Absolve them of damage that they may do to your property! They are incompetent and unaccountable! BEWARE! read more

This company continues to impress! This is my second time using Island Movers. It started with the initial phone call. The office told me that they found a slot and that they could squeeze me in. They then scheduled the estimator, Kevin to come in that day to evaluate. He wrote the estimate and sent it to me within a few hours. Once it got approved by my company, Kevin kept in contact with the information needed for the move and the dates. I get a call the day before from the office to let me know the time that the crew would be in. Today's crew, Jacob and Andrew led by Anthony, made the move itself so stress free. They carefully packed all of my items and the process was thorough yet quick. I can't thank them enough for making this move so seamless. They work very well together and they are the reason why I don't use anyone else. A huge thank you to everyone that made this happen on such short notice. Our family has used Island Movers to move to and from the island over the past 35 years. When it came time to move my mother to the mainland she did not hesitate to contact Island Movers once again. They did not disappoint. The competition would not even guarantee a pick up date, and did not return calls. The packing crew headed up by Anthony, and Sarah was very professional. If there were six stars, I would give them all six! Island Movers was the kindest, most professional part of my recent move from Lahaina to Kahana. I wrote a review earlier when Victor at Island Movers called me to tell me that they had found a way to accommodate the changes in closing date and move me without interim storage. Thank you!!! Whew! And then the actual packing and moving days arrived. The crew arrived, introduced themselves and began packing. They were exceedingly careful with all my things - I'm old and I have so many things that may not look valuable - but they are of major importance to me for sentimental reasons. Everything was handled with care and respect. I wish I could remember everyone's name, but I want to thank them all! - Especially Josh the crew leader and Andrew. Then day two arrived - moving day! The new place is only about 15 minutes north of the old. Everyone was confident that all would go without problems - then five minutes into the move, the elevator broke! Otis on the mainland was called by the building maintenance man - and we waited. and waited. Finally, the Island Movers crew started carrying everything down three flights and up one (why was the building designed that way?) It was a much much bigger job. Huge effort on the part of the guys. The very large pieces waited for the elevator repair which didn't happen until late afternoon. So - the result was that the move was a very tough one for everyone. Might be good for Oahu but not great for the outer island. Still unable to find any trace of my appointment. Can't wait for them to show up and I turn them away. I booked it with Oahu office they gave it to another moving company on Big Island. Because it did not come directly from the customer, the movers on Big Island couldn't find and nor could their office on Oahu. Not helpful! If I booked it directly with Oahu office they Should have been able to find but No such luck. read more

I just completed a delivery in WA that was packed and loaded by Island Movers. Terrible pack, the glass was packed inside a standard 3.0cu with little to no news paper, a dish pack was loaded with metal trays and a blender (not what it's intended for), one lift van was loosely loaded to the point where many items were damaged in the move. Also, dangerous goods class 8 (corrosives) were not claimed any where on the lift van or on the documents. The inventory was just random numbers that did not match the inventory stickers. THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE MOVE; easily one of the worst EVER. I really think Island movers need to fire whoever was on this job. read more

I had an elliptical delivered to my home by island movers. Jessica, at Island Movers, who helps with deliveries they make for businesses such as Sears, was so incredibly helpful. She bent over backwards to make sure their delivery team got it right. Seems like we're always moving. Oahu to Maui and back and forth. Today, it was storage facility to my office, wrap original paintings like 9 of them, glass table top and marble pedestals, then move them to storage. Jay and Jacob were on time, courteous and didn't tell me to shut up when I was telling them how to crate the glass table! All joking aside, my experience with Island Movers has been great. I highly recommend them. I think IM management sends their workers to meditation classes because the workers are always calm and considerate. read more

We had booked with another company (Hawaiian Movers) and they called us 15 minutes before their movers were supposed to arrive and said they couldn't make it. We had airline tickets to leave Maui the next morning so we HAD to move our things that day. We called Island Movers and they were able to squeeze us in at the last minute. We heard later that Hawaiian Movers does this all the time If they get a bigger job, they cancel the small one. They also change their name a lot. Movers showed up on time, were friendly, but in the end did a terrible job. The three movers did nothing but shove and jam our items into boxes....they didn't use any paper or popcorn to protect our items. We had several boxes with our clothes wadded up and jammed into boxes with tools and a hack saw- what the heck?! On the other side (mainland) our items were all mixed up and a mess. This was very disappointing considering we had given them nearly a $100.00 tip and were very nice.The straw that broke the camel's back was seeing the entire roll of packing paper they were supposed to use to wrap our items in, untouched and still rolled up but INSIDE one of the packing crates. So we paid money to have these heavy rolls of packing paper ship all the way across the ocean. So unprofessional- what a joke. I guess the moral of the story is...you need to watch them like a hawk! read more

What a terrible company. Recently we hired this company for moving. What a rip off. First of all for 10 items they charged close to $600.00 to move 1 mile. 2nd When they broke irreplaceable items they refused to cover it. 3rd. They drivers took their sweet time taking several cigarette breaks and taking their sweet time. It took 30 minuets to dive 1 mile. I don't get it. So because they went over their time limit by 18 min they tried to charge us an extra $200.+ dollars. We had a quote in writing and then they decided to up. Our quote included all items plus disassemble and Assembly. When the driver called to do his check-in saying he was done and really for balance do he did this on speaker-phone.. Big Mistake we could here his boss being a serious jerk and saying that he never quoted us that cost that we needed to pay.. Absolutely NOT.. Finally he said that he would waive the extra $200.00 + dollars but we would have to sign something stating we would not come after them for the broken items. I just think this is a joke and a terrible rip off. I will continue to spread the word about what a terrible company this is as well as the highway robbery charges.. only good thing about island movers is that they show up on the day they promise and close to the time appointed. otherwise don't use them, they are sloppy, don't record any details of the items being moved so they lose or pillage the goods. they are not good with paperwork and if you need to investigate any loss items they give you the run around claiming that they delivered it. they are good at billing and will hound you for payment before the due date. read more

Island mover was supposed to deliver an appliance for Home depot. The delivery person called but I couldn't reach the phone and he left a message stated that he'd be at my house in 15-20 minutes. I waited and waited, no show. I called Home depot to inquire after waiting for about 1 1/2 hours. Home depot was able to give me the contact number after calling 3 times and being put on hold for 25 minutes. When I called the Island mover, the manager said the driver called, left massage, and still drove to my house but the gate was closed so they left. I can't believe it. I was sitting in the living room all day where has a big window facing the gate and fence that is only 16 feet away. I have clear view of the gate and fence. There was no big delivery truck whatsoever. Someone lied. No one called out to see if someone is home and no second phone call. They couldn't even do such a simple thing. I have used Island Movers for all my interisland moves (4) and have never been disappointed. But on 2/25/17 their awesome team of Jacob, Hyland, Charles, Andrew, Ki'i and Will were SO amazing I just had to share my experience. I have never seen such focus on getting a job done and getting it done RIGHT. They were polite, efficient and professional. They gave me a courtesy call to inform me exactly when they were going to arrive and once they did it was all business: each team member knew exactly what to do- and with extreme focus. This review is long over due and I apologize for taking so long. It has taken me a while to get settled in my new home on the Mainland. I lived on Maui for 30 years and still plan on having a place there. When I needed to move a lot of things to the Mainland I first called Royal Hawaiian Movers. They came out to see what I needed moving and then sent me an estimate via e-mail. The estimate given to me in an e-mail was $2,000 over what we discussed and what this person told me at my place. I then called Island Movers. They are a no nonsense business. I felt they were very straight forward and so helpful. My estimate was what I was expecting and they fit me into their calendar as I requested. The people they sent to pack up my stuff were just wonderful and very conscientious. Victor is the most understanding and helpful person. He helped me to the very end. The people that actually delivered my things were numskulls. Victor communicated with them for me and did not turn his back on me when I reached out for help. That meant so much to me! I would definitely use them again in a minute! read more

It is extremely unfortunate that Sears has contracted with such a horrible, unreliable and inefficient moving company. All details were given to Sears and I confirmed every detail on th instruction sheet. Lahaina, Tuesday delivery, correct stall number to park in, the number of stairs to climb AND that the appliance was measured correctly. My husband and daughter stayed home from employment that day. Movers called both numbers listed, said they were here, got no answer and left. When we called the number back we were told " eh, brah we try to deliver but no one stay home. We try deliver later today" Well that just doesn't sit well considering the fact that NO ONE ever came to door and check. The door was ajar and family kept checking. After several calls to Sears and their apologies and comments we were rescheduled to Friday! Note:Sears also confirmed CONTINUED ISSUES with ISLAND MOVERS but unable to use others due to contractual issues. Friday has come, Mover arrives at door says they can't deliver because appliance won't fit thru door. Daughter calls father (because he needs to work) who speaks with Mover. Mover advises can't deliver but oh can remove old refrigerator. Husband comes home immediately. Since old refrigerator can be moved out after removing door and going DOWN stairs NO PROBLEM. Now comes to moving new one in, my Husband and 2 friends move it UP the stairs. Mover advises "let me try" he wiggles it to door, doesn't fit but says "oh take the door off" which he does reluctantly. Husband and 2 friends ended up lifting up and thru the door while the Mover guys watch! Mover takes down front hallway to kitchen, signs our papers and says "OK we're done." My husband then asks "aren't you going to hook it up?" "oh yeah!" Now I'm tending to a husband with a cut hand and sore back. TOTALLY USELESS.... a letter is pending! read more

I can not express in words how grateful I am to Island Movers Maui. After a horrendous experience with an unscrupulous company on the Big Island (review coming soon), Island Movers were truly a blessing. Every employee I had contact with via email or phone exemplified politeness, professionalism, honesty, and empathy. Many mahalos especially to Rosie, Candice, Kevin, Alia (spelling?) and Rubi (Oahu). I communicated most with Rosie, Household Coordinator, whose integrity and compassion I will never forget. If I had received the customer service I experienced at Island Movers from the Big Island, my move to Maui would have been seamless. In addition to the above, I was told by Rosie while on the mainland visiting an ill relative that they waived the fees for moving my household goods upstairs because they wanted this end of my move to go as smooth as possible (additional cost I was totally unaware of). I cried in relief after all I had been through with the moving company on the Big Island. The estimator on the Big Island assured me that I would receive my belongings a week after pick-up which was June 22nd. He informed Rosie that my belongings were coming to Island Movers Maui four days before they arrived on Maui, and one of those days was a major holiday, so my new neighbors kindly received my household goods because of my pre-arranged trip to the mainland. My neighbors told me me how impressed they were with Matt, Tutu and Scotty, who delivered my belongings. They handled my household goods with care, skillfully carried everything upstairs, and one of the men even showed off his hula hoop skills with my hula hoop. Timely, professional, friendly, AND humorous! Now that is exceptional service! And to top things off, they did not accept the delivery fee check I had left with my neighbors (another expense I was not informed about on the other end). I would give this company 10 + stars! If you are thinking about using Island Movers to move to the mainland... You better think again. I got a bid from them which was very reasonable. Kevin came and looked around real quick and said that everything should fit into a 20' container. I told him it would need at least a 40' container. After me telling him several times to send a 40' he still sent a 20'. He said that he would put the rest on a crate and a pallet. ( i am not happy with that, I replied. My belongings were set to arrive in 3 weeks. We received the container on time, ( 6/21/2013) Now here it is 7/10/2013 which is 6 weeks.....I still do not have our crate & pallet which amounts to 50 boxes. Our pillows,sheets, cooking utensils, glass tops, and other items needed to live comfortably. When I complained to the general manager he could care less. After all it's not his stuff it's mine.
