I found a Tahitian pearl bangle for me and my best friend back home. The gal working let me browse but was also readily available if I needed a case opened. That's how I prefer to shop- friendly and "around" but also give me my space. Speaking of space, this store is large! I mention this because it feels that it's curated well- every piece has its own space. Nothing is cluttered or messy. I walked the perimeter a few times, always seeing something new. I found an ornament and a framed oil painting too! There's a lot of shops in this area that seem to sell "the same things"- the same souvenirs, the same jewelry, the same sunglasses. By The Bay is a lovely gallery featuring art pieces of all kinds. Come here to find something that reminds you of the island for your home (or wrist!)

And it's so conveniently near the airport. And perfectly located to waste time and find something sweet :) Besides good prices and a pretty large inventory, Chu is an absolute doll! I've been here for several things in the past but what keeps me coming back now, is the crystals. I'm on the beginning of my crystal journey, and she is always so helpful and knowledgeable. One of the few vendors I revisit time and time again and can chit chat with. She has the best stones/prices for jewelry making on the island and knows her products. She gets 1-2 supply deliveries/mo. She is always very transparent if something is man made or naturally occurring. I've never felt pressured to buy anything which is a HUGE relief. I love being in here because we can either do our own thing, or talk about stones, but she never uses sales tactics that are usually so apparent and gross feeling to be on the receiving end of. Because she conducts her store this way, it creates an atmosphere I LOVE being in. No matter what you're buying, having freedom to roam and explore without offering deals or selling at you, it makes your shopping so peaceful. Like I said, I am on the beginning of my crystal journey and she has been so sweet. I have asked literally a hundred questions lol and never has she gotten annoyed. She has shown me nothing but respect, and helps me learn in a positive way. If I ask for a stone with an intended emotional purpose, she gives me several options, allows me time to hold each one to discern which has a more magnetic pull to my spirit. And if she doesn't know specific details to my questions (I ask a lot lol, she's so very patient), she will give me her crystal bible to consult, though usually I just use my phone. This is also nice. Most salesmen/women will overly boast their knowledge. She doesn't do that. She tells you what she knows, which is a lot. And if she doesn't, she's just honest. It's so nice to be treated with respect, humility, transparency, and patience from a business owner. There aren't many businesses like this anymore. Visiting Chu is a MUST, whether you live here or are visiting, you won't regret it I will be coming back here very very frequently :) Ps don't give her a hard time about the sanitizer, she's just a lady running a shop who doesn't want to get sick. She got the good stuff for you, so don't be lame and complain lol

I was attracted to the wooden starfish, zippered turtle coin purses, and other souvenirs outside. Inside, they have a dizzying array of jewellery, wooden artefacts, and wood handicrafts a little different from your standard Maui souvenirs. All at VERY low prices. I purchased a lava chakra bead bracelet, a mystic topaz ring, two blue topaz rings, and some smoky quartz earrings. They had rose quartz, amethyst, mystic topaz and others, but their stock leans mostly to Quartz, in various types. They had beautiful Indonesian Wayang Golek puppets, for only $35 which is a steal, and many other Thai/Indonesian looking mirrors, and other wooden handicrafts that are appealing. My friend bought necklaces for $15/$25, and we left Maui with a big bag full of beautiful jewellery pieces, at really cheap prices. This store can get crowded, and the staff was nice and friendly, despite the constant rushes of people lingering around counters, trying on pieces and looking into mirrors. Wooden boxes for $5, earrings less than $10- a super place for nicer gifts than the usual souvenir shops in the area. Definitely worth a look!

We came across Keani, because a necklace from the window beckoned me in. The young sales associate was super friendly and was wearing the necklace I wanted, so I could see it on. She then told me the story behind the store. The jewelry was designed by born and raised Hawaiian women. The jewelry was stunning, Hawaiian inspired, yet simple and modern. Knowing this, I should have been encouraged to size up since the fabric clearly runs small and shrinks at least half a size or more -- even on delicate. That's basic product knowledge I expect from anyone selling their own line. The experience itself felt very ego-forward and conversation-heavy, and not in a charming way. I asked multiple questions about sizing and alternate options and felt more like I was interrupting a monologue than being helped. I don't need a success TED Talk -- I'm here to shop. The store has a one-stop, trend-boutique vibe. For me, the quality is just okay. Maybe if the fit had worked I'd feel differently, but it didn't. Wishing them continued success, but I'll be spending my money elsewhere.
