The service is always amazing here. We have been coming each year and purchasing art. Today we got a ring and a ceramic turtle wall hanging. Both were incredibly unique and well made. They always highlight local artist which is so so nice! Prices vary but we find their pricing to be very fair. read more

I loved walking into this store- it's the kind of place where you can find something new every time you walk around. I walked in thinking "jewelry"... and they have goooood jewelry! I found a Tahitian pearl bangle for me and my best friend back home. The gal working let me browse but was also readily available if I needed a case opened. That's how I prefer to shop- friendly and "around" but also give me my space. Speaking of space, this store is large! I mention this because it feels that it's curated well- every piece has its own space. Nothing is cluttered or messy. I walked the perimeter a few times, always seeing something new. I found an ornament and a framed oil painting too! There's a lot of shops in this area that seem to sell "the same things"- the same souvenirs, the same jewelry, the same sunglasses. By The Bay is a lovely gallery featuring art pieces of all kinds. Come here to find something that reminds you of the island for your home (or wrist!) read more

Their resin see creatures are amazing!!! If I had a condo on Maui to decorate this would be the place to buy every art piece!!!

This store is great! It has really nice merchandise that doesn't cost a fortune. My sister saw glass jellyfish pendants that she loved in a store on Front Street in Lahaina, but they were $159 - $275. The more expensive ones had sparkly features whereas the $159 were flat colors. They were also rather large at 2.5" by 1" and very thick at ~0.75 away from your chest when you wear them. On our last day we went to By the Bay and I saw almost the same pendant in the window. It was a bit smaller (which I liked) at 1.5" by 0.5". And, they only cost $40 each! It was amazing! It made my sister's day! I got a strand of pink freshwater pearls for $20 and a glass pendant with a wave for $36. The owner of the shop told us that a local artist makes the glass pendants. My mom bought a beautiful preserved orchid and a strand of freshwater pearls for a friend. Both pieces were $75 all together. The owner of the shop was extremely friendly and helpful. I loved all of her help. She also let me try on the pendants by putting them o a chain I was already wearing. The pendants are sold without a chain, which I personally love. I have so many chains and hate it when you HAVE to buy the pendant and the chain as a set. She has both black cords and chains available for purchase. The cords were ~$6. Stop by this shop in Paia! Amazing Store!!! Located in the cool town of Paia. Cool merchandise!!! I loved everything! Jewelry, art, gifts, etc... I purchased Artwork of Maui scenery on a surfboard and had a custom board made for my household in Malibu California. Everyone was so helpful from the staff, artist, and owner of the store. As Arnold S. says, "I'll be back" next time on Maui:) read more

We visited this store 3 times while in Maui because we loved it so much, every time we left feeling like we had the best shopping experience. The woman with long black hair (assuming the owner) was amazing! Gave us recommendations for the area and was so patient with us while we made decisions on what we wanted to buy. Seriously, visit this store, you won't regret it. read more

This is a great shop for beachy items. They have plenty of unique jewelry, knick knacks and other types of souvenirs. I really liked a lot of the items, despite not buying anything. I did however come through on two different occasions to look through their items. read more

I stopped in this store when I was wandering around Paia. I browsed the jewelry, paintings, and other artwork. The merchandise looked lovely, but the prices were a bit high for us, even if they were comparable to other stores in the area. I bought only a hat that I really needed to shield myself from the sun, and even the hat was a little pricey and had some makeup on the inside from when another customer had tried it on. The staff was friendly in greeting us and making conversation. I would recommend stopping in this store if you want to explore Paia and search for artwork to take home. read more

Stopped here today and found a fantastic silver toe ring to adorn by left foot. It was called "Road to Hana" which is named after an adventure one might take to a beautiful are of Maui! The ring was $30 and well worth it, the fit is great and the fact it has a full ring, not one with an opening in the back, was very much my style of toe jewel. read more

We bought a relief map of the state here and the owner and employees went above and beyond to get it to us. The customer service would definitely lead me to come back and shop here again. read more

Interesting items in the store but the lady at the counter was less than pleasant. I was admiring the customizable wooden signs and wondering how they printed on the wood and if I could do it in my shop at home. As my wife and I were walking out, the lady was quick to rush from behind the counter to try and confront me, asking "do you have all the information that you need?" I replied that I did and promptly left. Some quick internet searching showed that their customizable signs are either ordered at http://www.tuvaluhome.com or just ripped off from them and marked up to boot. read more

Love this place! I travel to Maui a few times a year, and this is one of the best shops I can recommend. They always have interesting Island themed household items, along with lovely jewelry. It's not all island themed, but in tune with nature. On our trip this past month we purchased 2 larger art pieces which they had shipped to us immediately. Arrived in perfect condition. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Please do yourself a favor and check it out!!! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE! A very SWEET shop! It has the loveliest variety of artisan jewelry and gifts! However, jewelry is way more portable! After visiting 3 islands, I bought jewelry from this shop only. Since Maui was the start of our vacation, I wanted to pace my spending. I regret that decision! Their pieces are so unique and special. I never found the same level of quality or uniqueness anywhere else, even in the high end shopping areas of Waikiki, North Shore or on the island of Hawaii. I bought a couple of pieces that I've been wearing all spring and summer. I love my fresh water pearls on a hemp cord, dresses up a t-shirt! The pearls are perfectly fat and imperfect! I have a corded bracelet with 3 pink pearls and a necklace with a single blue pearl, also on a hemp cord. I adore my other necklace: a single orchid (1-inch dia./oxblood red) on a silver chain! It's a natural orchid preserved in resin, it gives a splash of color for a neutral closet! I intended to gift it as a souvenir but couldn't resist keeping it for myself! It's my signature piece this summer, I've worn the orchid to evening galas and receptions, as well as with a T to the pool. The choices of real orchid jewelry are stunning! I needed one for a gift recently and since I live on the East coast, I asked Billie to send me pictures of what they have. Billie was so accommodating given the time difference and in less than a week, I had my order! I can't wait to finally give it to my friend! Mahalo! read more

I love Paia, unfortunately, like many retail stores here the stores have changed in 'aloha' spirit. I stopped in waiting for Paia fish house to open, no one was in the store and I was not greeted or asked if I needed help. Two separate mainlanders walked in and was greeted promptly and asked if they may provide additional assistance. Wow! I'll buy the gyotakus elsewhere. read more

I love this store! It has beautiful handcrafted items and jewelry that are so intricate and very reasonably priced. The artists really capture the natural beauty of Hawaii. Make sure to stop by and shop on your way to Hana. read more

I loved this store! This is one my favorites from our trip and we visited 3 islands. The staff there were delightful and fun. We shared a love of the Hawaiian Snowmen Ornaments. They had something for everyone and they are a cut or four above most junky, tourist shops. Their jewelry was beautiful and I came home with a lovely pair of peridot earrings. I fell deeply in love with a bracelet however as it was not the end of my trip, I declined. I was sad and the ladies gave me all the information needed to contact them to purchase it!! Which I will!! They have great choices for every price range. Beautiful, fun shop, wonderful little town. Check it out for sure when you are in Paia, HI. read more

Everytime I am in Maui I have to stop here. The handmade gifts are wonderful and very reasonable. The Maui Hands gallery hearby is very snooty and over priced. The service at By the Bay was marvelous. This time I got a lovely pair of earrings. I might have to get more :-) read more
