This is a small mall that has an ABC - great for souvenirs! and a Safeway grocery store attached to it. They also have a large food court with some sort of beer garden/bar area, and multiple food truck options that look amazing. Families were here, eating, and people were sitting at the bar. It was pretty busy. The stores are predictable - a snorkeling place, some beachwear, fashion, etc. Parking is plentiful and free. It is air conditioned so you can get out of the heat for awhile. They also have a restaurant on the outside of the mall that seems popular. So it's not a big mall, but if you're looking for a swimsuit, or a cute outfit or a souvenir, you can get that here. You can also get a tasty bite to eat or some groceries. read more

Lahaina Cannery Mall - This is one of the food trucks inside the mall - Shopping Centers Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

Nice cultural hula shows and cultural crafts. Clean and modern and public bathrooms available. Air conditioned. Longs drug store is a part of the cannery. That's the main store that might have some decent prices. I've visited some of the other stores and the prices are kind of high. Food trucks inside mall that have food for sale. Sometimes there are craft fairs on the lawn outside. Update: Was sad to hear they did away with the Hawaiian crafts last year. They really should bring it back. The shops at Wailea have a robust program of Hawaiian dance, crafts and music and I guess I will go there future. They only have a hula show on Sundays 1-2 pm, some music on Friday and Saturday 5-6 pm and and a hula class I believe on Thursday/ Friday. The shops at wailea has something everyday. I did want to mention that the hula show put on by the Oni foundation was one of the best I had seen and it was for a whole hour. I would definitely recommend it!! read more

I always come here to go to Longs drug store to get candy and macadamia nuts for presents. The mall has a lot of parking and easy to access. It looks like they have remodeled the mall. Before there weren't that many stores here but now there's some more stores and in the back is a food court, which has a bunch of permanent food trucks. It is a nice selection of food. However, even though the mall has been remodeled, I still feel that it doesn't have the stores it needs to make it a nice flowing mall. It's pretty desolate and not very many people visiting them all. I think if they had some better stores at the mall, it would do much better. I remember that you could access the Safeway store at the corner from the mall. But now you have to go out of the mall and into the Safeway. And the Safeway is a large, super Safeway. read more

Lahaina Cannery Mall - Shopping Centers Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

If you are looking for local simple pleasures and need to do your grocery shopping along the way, the Lahaina Cannery is calling your nabe. Plenty of parking, food trucks and live music, with pedicures and hula lessons too. Once you've gotten your shopping out of the way, head back outside and visit one of the handful of oceanside restaurants, it's the perfect place to spend the day (did I mention free parking)! read more

Let me say, this side of the island is very beautiful! This seems to be the area that's being developed commercially. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. It is what it is. We stumbled upon this mall totally by accident. We were headed to find a particular beach when driving through this area and noticed an art fest in the parking lot of the mall. So, the mall provides plenty of parking. Upon entering the mall, we noticed how clean it appeared. A much smaller version of the malls on the mainland or even Oahu. But still very nice. Honestly, it seemed to be a mall for tourist. I'm not mad at it! The high cost of things on this island, gives great cause for establishing a tourist mall. Although, I will say, things seemed a little bit more affordable in this area. The shops were nice, neat and organized. The customer service in the stores were very accommodating and pleasant. The selections of souvenirs and pricing were better than other areas. I will definitely visit this mall again when I come back. read more

I haven't actually been inside of the mall since before the fire. Not as much stores as they used to have, but it's very clean and I love that it's still air-conditioned. The food court is no longer there. However, they do have food trucks if you need a bite to eat. read more

I'm giving them an A for effort, but the mall itself isn't very lively. They can't help it, but the crowds aren't coming. It's nicely built, post the devastating fire, has food trucks, some tourist shops, surf and clothing stores, jewelry store, and is connected to Longs Drugs (aka CVS for mainlanders). Starbucks and sandwich joint. It's continuing to grow. Plenty of parking. It's also close to the Lahaina restaurants recently rebuilt. So good location. Cool thing is they have a hula school perform for free. Check the website for times. The Cannery will be lively some day. Just needs time. read more

Lahaina Cannery Mall - Parking lot entrance - Shopping Centers Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

It took a long time but they finally gave Lahaina Cannery Mall a much-needed facelift. The remodel was nice, clean, and modern. Lots of new shops and eateries (food trucks) to attract more shoppers. I was so happy that they kept the stage for special events and for the kids to run around and have fun as our daughter did 20 years ago. read more

The good: My family walked around here during our vacation and enjoyed the indoor mall setting. There's an ABC shop in here as well as other clothing stores and souvenir type shops. My brother ended up getting his gf some clothes here. The bad: It's not very big and it's not visually interesting inside. The interesting: It's next to Safeway. It used to be a pineapple cannery. read more

I have never seen an indoor mall have outdoor simulated food trucks inside. They have a lot of interesting food trucks and the mall is brand new and they are still having spaces for lease. Fun place. It's modern and clean and new. Free open parking lot. It's right next to Safeway and an ABC store. Chickens run around freely. read more

Come on in, enjoy the AC and support the food vendors inside! We had some and fresh sushi and poke from Sushi Ko who used to be on Front Street and sadly lost their restaurant. They are here! IMHO The mall is open. Some old favorites are gone, but new ones have opened or are coming soon. Flagship stores are Safeway, Longs, ABC store, Starbucks. Jersey Mike's sandwiches is a nice addition. Crazy Shirts, a nail shop, Three Crowns Jewelry, Serendipity, toy store, museum, etc. are still here. A food truck food court seems to be waiting for more customer traffic before it opens. There is a small stage near the food court for hula dancing performances and other events. Restrooms new, clean and modern. On Saturdays, they host an outdoor Art Fair showcasing local artists. It is a nice respite for those who want to sit or shop in an air-conditioned mall. read more

Lahaina Cannery Mall - Shopping Centers Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

I enjoys shopping here and support the local business. There are couple souvenir shops. Starbucks, Safeway and the popular ABC store. There are several food trucks inside. Don't need to worry parking as they have a big parking lot. read more

The Cannery is a small but cute shopping center, probably a bit too small to be called a mall. Very abundant parking outside so no worries about finding a spot. There's a decent amount of food options like Jersey Mike's, Starbucks, and a few food trucks. There's a Long's (Hawaiian CVS) and a Safeway which gives it a lot more utility. The inner mall has a few local shops, nothing too big name. The highlight of our trip there was seeing a hula performance with locals which really emphasized the communal nature of Lahaina that you can forget exists when surrounded by the gauntlet of hotels nearby. read more

Lahaina business community came up with this innovative "Food Truck Indoor," which is great idea. The place is full of Aloha spirit and the design is very welcoming! Being that this Mall is anchored by a Mainland franchise (Safeway) it is not tops on the local's list. That and the fact that it seems to turn it's back on the one steady establishment that is local. (Long's, no air conditioning, leaky roof) The Mall had been dying steadily for many years. Finally some renovations, a new local style restaurant and an innovating idea for an "Indoor Food Truck Court" started the ball slowly rolling. While it took months for the Six food trucks to get on-line, the newly formed food court with a few extra Large Screen T.V.s and ample seating makes dining comfortable and a fun family or friend's get-together kind of place. There's even a stage for live Hula, Cultural and special performances. This would rate 3-4 stars as the Mall is improving but what brought it back down was a ridiculous policy that Native Hawaiian & local residents are not allowed to do crafts or practice their Cultural Art while patronizing the establishment. Either the policy is ridiculous and prejudiced (The Mall puts on Cultural shows(?) - other Visitors/Guests are going about their lives - holding meetings, working on their computer, doing homework, watching T.V. and some not even patrons.) or the interpretation of their self proclaimed Chief of Security "John" was ridiculous and prejudiced. "John" notified us that we had to stop making the Coconut leaf stars and my lauhala bracelet - that it wasn't allowed per policy and intimidated us by saying we were on camera. Mind you were are locals and in fact "Lahaina Wildfire Victims" who returned to our property right down the road. We have supported the Mall and came regularly to shop, eat & drink, watch the game and at most instances practice our cultural crafts. We have never been told of this policy before but "John" the security guard was in rare form - When my partner asked "why", he was told if he didn't like it we could leave and that my partner was "Lucky" that ,John allowed "your girlfriend" (me) to practice as long as I did. The night ended by myself being extremely offended as a Native Hawaiian. I felt singled out and treated very unfairly. I called the management company for an explanation but have yet to speak with them in the last 3 days. Maybe local people are not welcomed. read more

I visited the Lahaina Cannery Mall a handful of times on our recent trip to Maui this past June (2023). Most of our business went to Starbucks, Longs/CVS, Safeway and the ABC Store. I found the mall clean and spacious enough for that area of Maui (Lahaina), but I noticed that many of the smaller stores were either vacant or completely empty with no customers each time we took a stroll around. I think they may need another anchor store to get more attention from the locals and tourists, which will in turn help with more traffic flowing through there to help everyone, especially the little local businesses out. Also, the few times that we stopped in to use their restrooms, they were always lacking toilet paper in many of the women's restroom stalls as well as paper towels in the dispenser. It seems like they need to have the restrooms monitored more often than not. That alone can dissuade customers in to stopping at other outdoor malls and/or stores instead. We visit Maui often as it is one of our favorites islands to visit, so I'm hopevil that the next time that we're in the Ka'anapali / Lahaina area, it's less of a ghost town then. read more

We came for the free hula show (currently Sundays at 1 pm) and it was great! There were a lot of people watching so I'd recommend arriving at least 20 minutes early if you want a chair to watch. On other days, they also offer ukulele lessons, hula lessons, etc. (check for the schedule online). Other than the free shows / lessons, this mall includes a clean Starbucks, Safeway, a few surf stores, a swim suit store, a few t-shirt stores, etc. The store options are okay but not the best shopping (I think downtown Lahaina has better stores). The food court is currently under construction but says it will reopen sometime in 2023. There are relatively clean bathrooms in the mall too. The parking lot is fairly big so you can likely find a parking spot - there are more spots off to the side vs. in front. read more

Small mall, nice service in the stores. Not many options but still not bad. I thought the food truck court was pretty unique.

Cannery Mall is hurting like everything else during the Covid pandemic. We stop in at Longs Drugs for a few thing. Then decided to check out the mall it's been a few years that we seen the place and that because of Covid. We love coming here to see the Hula of all age groups and the atmosphere of this place. Well what a shocker, no food court and a lot of vacancy. The mall is like a ghost mall, the merchants that we usually buy stuff from are gone!! We were there at about 10:30 am so some shops weren't open yet. We did go into a new to us ABC Store and bought a Christmas face mask, a truck with a surfboard for our grandson, tiki shot glass for our nephew. The staff were very friendly and greeted everyone as they came through the door. Now we did see food trucks in the parking lot and wanted to check them out. We were running out of time due to a rain storm with flooding approaching and wanted to get back before it started. December 5, 2021 read more

This mall is mostly beach wear no department stores. The food court was under construction so we didn't find food here. I love this mall! It's definitely not what you would expect comparing to malls on the mainland. The area has a good amount of history behind it. an ABC and Longs Drugstore anchor the mall and the rest is a plethora of the same stores scattered throughout the interior. Come here to hang out and watch the kids perform, meet up with some friends, and/or grab gear before hitting the beach. If you're a silly mainlander who is used to skyscrapers, giant malls and your 8,000 square foot house in the hills, this is not the place for you. You can head over to Queen Ka'ahumanu Center for all your chains and big box stores. Think small town. Then you know you got it right. read more

I ended up at the Lahaina Cannery Mall today, as I was desperately hungry, and had to take a massive pee, as things didn't go too smoothly for me today. :( It was getting late, and as I spotted this mall, I decided to pop on in to use the restroom, then forge around for some kind of fast & quick grindz. Originally, I was thinking of looking for this place called - "808 Grindz Cafe" in Lahaina, but my plans changed as I was pressed for time. Upon stumbling into this mall...........it looked pretty nice on the outside, but when I got inside, I realized this mall appears to be dying.......... The two main anchor stores are - Safeway & Longs Drugs. Looking around, I noticed there are a lot of closed up shops here, especially the food vendors in the food court (as there were only 4 vendors left in the entire place). The food vendors that are surviving in the food court are - 1, DQ / Orange Julius 2. Bale Vietnamese Food 3. L & L Hawaiian BBQ 4. Casa Maya Mexican Restaurant Food court - not so good here.......... The mall itself is beautiful! I love the glass ceilings which brings in the natural light into the enclosed mall. There is a lot of free parking in the humongous parking lot, but of course when the mall is dead, of course you will have a lot of parking available! Lol! The mall has a few specialty stores, & clothes stores. There is a Boss Frog & LuLu's Restaurant too. Looks like this mall needs some kind of reinvention of some sort, or a boost of energy to liven up this place! The mall appears to be geared towards tourist, but I don't see too much people around here......PERIOD! read more

We came in here looking for souveniers to take back with us but didn't find anything we particularly liked. I would have given this mall one star but added another one since they had a Na Hoku jewelry store in it. It's one of my favorite jewlery stores. They have such cute pendants and earrings. We went to the one in Kihei at the Shops in Wailea. This location has a decent selection as well. Half the stalls of stores were empty. The food court only had a few vendors. The majority of which was closed at the time we came by. It felt so depressing. It reminded me of a movie parody where everyone is selling "happy" items and putting on that happy face but it reality, it was just the opposite. read more

Lahaina Cannery Mall - Signage - Shopping Centers Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

It is small with only a handful of stores but offers some respite from the heat since this is the only closed AC mall in the area.

This mall was not what I expected of a "mall." It was pretty dead, with a handful of shops out of its 20 shops out of business. Additionally, their food court of about 5 stalls had only 1 of them open, a Vietnamese Sandwich place. I'm not sure if an early week day evening is representative of the food court there, but I was pretty surprised because most food courts stay open all day. The only thing with a little vitality going on in the mall was a group of about 25-30 students learning how to play the ukulele on the stage, which even then I thought was a bit strange since you wouldn't expect a class at that location. I think this mall has potential, and I appreciate the local vibe here since there are a lot of local shops giving a unique flavor to the mall. However, the mall in its current state is pretty dead. More stores need to open here, perhaps a few bigger chain stores or stores selling different items other than Hawaiian souvenirs and clothes. It would help to fill in the empty spaces but also more shoppers need to visit here too -- I'm not sure if such revitalization is possible? read more

We stopped here to grab some breakfast at Starbucks and the mall looked interesting. We came back a few days later to walk around and it was dead. I think this place has a lot of potential, but most of the stores were all closed and selling cheap knock-off crap. The best parts of this mall are: ABC store, Safeway and Starbucks. And it also serves as extra parking for the Old Lahaina Luau in the evenings. read more

We were on the way to the beach and thought we should stop and look at what they had in this mall since we had never been in it. There's really nothing to see here - it feels really deserted. It is conveniently located in the same plaza as Longs Drugs and Safeway. The only thing worth stopping for inside is the ABC store (basically the Walgreens of Hawaii) if you wanna pick up some gifts. There are several other ABC stores around Lahaina you can go to as well. You'll see it quite often. And I guess if you want to cool down from the hot weather, you can come inside and enjoy the ac. Oh. If you're attending the Old Lahaina Lu'au across the street, they'll refer you to this mall to hang out while you're waiting.. but there really isn't anything worth seeing really.. read more

The mall was clean but also lacking of stores. I can see that it's hurting from the pandemic.
