The diving in Maui is amazing and one of the reasons why we came to Maui for our vacation. There are a lot of options to scuba right from the beach and many options for dive outfits to go out with. That being said, the folks at Maui Diving Scuba Center have the local knowledge to keep their clients safe and also educate and inform and I am glad we choose them. I signed up for the 5 star 5 dive package and ended up booking one additional Mala dive with them because the diving there is so good. In all, I spent 5 days diving with them and a total of 9 dives. They were well organized and prepared to get us rolling promptly which meant most days we were out of the water and back to the shop around 1 PM which left lots of family time for the afternoon. Additionally, they offered a Turtle conservation class which I attended, and thought it made me a better more responsible diver when swimming with turtles. I just want to personally thank the divemasters I had the chance to go diving with (please pardon any misspelling on the names). Big shout out to Yancy, Johnny, Sarah, and Dave for taking great care of me and the rest of the divers while we were out with you. Johnny offered a photo package from our Mala dive that was really an unexpected bonus. Last but not least is Jillian in the office. She really went above and beyond helping to coordinate all of my dives. She was patient and understanding when I screwed up and booked a night dive on my wife's birthday. Having someone that is solution-focused and customer-centric is vital for a tourism company. Jillian also helped me find a new dive mask. I have struggled to find a mask that doesn't leak because of my beard and is also comfortable. It was so much more fun diving without having to keep clearing my mask. Thank you for your help in making this an unforgettable trip!

Turtle over my head at Mala Pier

Great dive shop and instructors. Junior made sure everyone in the group was comfortable and ready to go for each dive. We purchased a 6 dive package and didn't regret it. Every dive had something new and interesting things to see. The most memorable ones were the Mala Pier, night dive and the 5 caves. After seeing so many turtles at Mala Pier we also decided to come back ourselves to go snorkeling a few days later. The workers at the shop were very accommodating as well. My regulator had an issue, so I was able to rent one for a couple of days while they fixed it.

Find the two frog fish!

I went on both a twilight and a night dive and both were amazing. We dove Mala pier for the twilight dive and it great to swim around the wreckage of the old pier. We saw turtles and white tips, but the highlight of the trip for me was when Steven pointed out my first frogfish! There were two of them sitting together and then just a few minutes later another diver spotted three sitting together. For the night dove black rock and it was easily one of the best dives I've ever been on. Top three for sure. If you like eels this is the dive for you. There were eels everywhere and they were all looking for food. I saw one just miss chowing down on a crab. We also saw turtles, an octopus, and a squid that changed colors and didn't appreciate the lights. The only thing I would recommend to people is to rent stronger lights if possible. I had my two 800 lumen lights and they were perfect, but most of the divers lights were 400. My lights really lit up the area. I went on a boat dive to Lanai at one of the cathedrals as well as another site and neither were even close to as good as my previous two shore dives. If I ever make it back to Maui I'd dive with Maui Diving for sure.

Another fantastic dive with Maui Diving. I was debating between Five Caves and the Mala Ramp. After a suggestion from the shop, we dove Mala and I'm SO glad we did! Visibility was incredible. We saw flounder, lobster, so many green sea turtles, eels, cleaner shrimp, two resting white tip reef sharks, a frog fish and an octopus (even if he didn't want to come out to play). I had Steven as a guide and lucked out that it was just the two of us! (I've gone diving with so many groups, which really limits your time underwater. I don't use much oxygen so we were able to stay under for 95 minutes. My only suggestion - I wish the wetsuits were a little newer. I tried on two and both were a bit ragged. The one the fit had no zipper pull which makes putting on your own suit impossible!

Amazing Shore Dive Experience -- Ask for Joey!…read more We had an amazing shore dive with Joey at Dive Maui! We originally booked the Shark and Turtle Dive, but unfortunately, recent rain had washed out the visibility, so we had to change plans and head to Airport Beach instead. While we were initially disappointed, it turned out to be a fantastic alternative! We still got to see tons of beautiful tropical fish, eels, starfish, and other marine life. What really made the experience exceptional was Joey! He was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, patient, and genuinely passionate about what he does. Safety was clearly his top priority, and he took the time to thoroughly explain everything before getting in the water. Throughout the dive, he was attentive and reassuring, especially when we experienced some challenges with our masks and ear pressure. He never made us feel rushed or uncomfortable and made sure we felt safe and confident the entire time. Even though the original dive didn't work out as planned, Joey went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable experience. It's guides like him who truly make the difference! We highly recommend Dive Maui, and if you're booking a dive, do yourself a favor and ask for Joey! You won't be disappointed. He is very knowledgeable, patient, funny, personable, and fun. This was our daughters first ocean dive after being certified in Texas. The wife and I have about 25 dives under our weight belt over the last 20 years but haven't dove in about 5 years. We scheduled a refresher dive for us and a easy dive for her with Sammy Scuba. We met Sammy at 7am at the Old Airport Beach Park for a morning shore dive. Immediately, we knew this was going to be a good experience for all. He assessed our skill level and tailored the instruction accordingly. Sammy's equipment was clean, newer models, and in great condition. The weather conditions (not within Sammy's control I don't think) were perfect. On a large iPad, he showed us pictures of what sea life we were likely to see as well as the reef and route we wanted to take before donning our equipment. (Pro tip: Sammy noticed I had a new mask. These masks are coated with a film that needs removing prior to use. Sammy used a lighter on the inside glass to burn off the coating then toothpaste to clean the remaining soot. Then he applied a solution of baby shampoo and water inside for an anti-fog treatment. Best visibility of any prior dive.) We scubaed the reef and saw so much sea life. He pointed out spotted moray eels, sea turtle, trumpet fish, and so much more sea life. We had an underwater camera and he was able to get a great shot of us three that we will be a wonderful reminder of a great family experience. We couldn't be happier with the experience and Sammy. Thank you Sammy. If you want to have a great diving experience in Lahaina or the surrounding area, please give Sammy a shout. You won't be disappointed. Mahalo Yelpers.

Matt and Brian were both amazing divemasters, both very accommodating to our entire party of divers. Matt will ask you what your favorite song is; be prepared to have one picked out, because you may hear it come on when some whales breach nearby (like what happened to me). Brad is the quintessential captain; he makes his boat so inviting you just want to stay there and hang out even after your dive is over. I was able to dive Lanai Cathedrals and Hammerhead. The former is a must for divers of any skill level for anyone that hasn't experienced it. Taking in the sights of shafts of light in super clear waters inside a coral enclosure is akin to a religious experience, so the cathedral moniker is fitting. The latter is very much a dive for advanced divers with a lot of dives logged under their belt. Dive conditions are notoriously windy/choppy/heavy currents, however we were fortunate that none of those were true. Absolutely perfect conditions, but even then you should be prepared for a potentially strenuous drift dive. It's off-season for Hammerheads, so we didn't see any, but this wasn't at all a problem. There's no denying how amazing it is to dive along a sheer coral cliff face like The Finger and some dolphins came to say hi on our dive. Diving off Moloka'i (where the Hammerhead dive is) is an absolute privilege no matter what sealife you encounter. Brian, our divemaster for Hammerhead, is exactly the kind of divemaster you want for an advanced dive by making sure everyone's head is in the right space: if you uphold your end of the bargain in taking this seriously by paying attention to your oxygen and no deco (and in an advanced dive, the quality of everyone's experience truly hinges on everyone taking every element of the dive very seriously), you'll have exactly the kind of laid back experience you came for. Where Lahaina Divers went above and beyond is they accommodated a family emergency that forced me to cancel my other two dives on VERY short notice, no questions asked (note to any travelers staying in the Napili area: the closest emergency room is a 45 minute drive away!). Thankfully all is well, but I absolutely needed to be available and couldn't make those dives, and it was no sweat at all to get that situated. I left some camera gear on the boat for my second dive, and Brad reached out to let me know I could pick it up at the shop. After everything that happened after that second dive, gotta tell ya, you really appreciate that level of care and consideration. Sure enough, I popped in later on and got my gear easy peasy. It's been 10 years since I've set foot on Maui and thus dove with Lahaina Divers, but fingers crossed I'll be back much sooner (and can keep all my reservations booked!).

The corals were mostly bleached, the fish were in an abundance but it was obvious the corals are hurting. No shark, or big fish in views. I have dove the big island and think it's so much better but that's just my 2 cents.

He took the time to answer all of our questions and really instilled the importance of dive safety--that anything can happen at any time, and you always need to stay aware, especially in and around the water.
