All Saints is such a beautiful, well-kept cemetery. The newer cremation garden with the pond is so…read morebeautiful and peaceful. There's even little koi in there! I have family in the indoor mausoleum. It's also peaceful and quiet and it's always nice to visit them there. The indoor mausoleum has quite a few interesting stained glass art pieces. I've ventured into the main part of the cemetery a few times to attend funerals and visit graves. Any time I need help, the office has been so quick to help. If it's possible to love a cemetery, then I'm absolutely in love with All Saints!

They spelled my mom's name wrong in the paperwork and were very nonchalant about it and offerred no apology. This was when I went to the office to sign paperwork on the day of my mother's funeral. Even after it was corrected and the paperwork presented to me again, they had her name wrong in one place. I was told it didn't matter. Well it mattered to me - this was my mother! You'd think that dealing with grieving families every day they could show a bit more compassion. I know it's their job and their every day, but I had experienced very nice people in other places on this journey (funeral home for example) that knew how to show compassion with warmth and good humor. I don't think the people working there are necessarily in the right jobs. I am not in need of a great deal of comforting nor am I prone to hysterics... just maybe don't spell my mother's name wrong and act like it's inconsequential. I don't particularly care for the glass front niches but that was our choice and made for some family reasons but the whole experience left me with a bad taste. I didn't price compare as it was where her grandparents were and I recognize it's a business but I question whether I should have just had her sit on my mantle.

There was also a covered entry which facilitated drop off and pick up without worry for inclement weather. And appreciated the very large parking lot to accommodate the many driving guests that came to the funeral we attended this past weekend. The facility was open and airy with very high ceilings which gave a feeling of spaciousness which was very important for some of us who do not want to feel crowded in during a time of grieving even if it is communal. The staff were very attentive and quietly present, overseeing and making sure guests knew where everything was. There was an excellent screen to facilitate photos being cycled of the deceased which helped guests feel connected through memories. There was a kitchen/table area where food could be handled and set up with coffee and tea available in addition to a water cooler. There was a side room with a couch for those who needed some quiet, family and elderly utilized that space. A cloak room made it easier to take off winter coats which made guests feel more welcome and comfortable. When we accidentally left our traveling bags behind in the cloak room we were able to reach the funeral director Julie Shim who stayed later to make sure we could pick up our suitcases for our travels early the next morning. Outstanding professionalism and customer care.

She went above and beyond for our family. She listened, gave options, was honest, understanding, compassionate, and thoughtful. I was impressed by the personal treatment that she gave to my daughter. Stacy valued my daughters input and made her feel appreciated in the whole planning process. Stacy made herself available any time during for any questions, concerns, requests, that we had. When we walked into the funeral home, it gave you a very home like feeling, not depressing more inviting, and it smelled fresh. They have the room for the viewing, a back room for refreshments. I made a video to play of pictures that was easily hooked up to the TV from my Mac and Spotify playlist to be played during the visitation. The whole establishment was spotless from the parking lot to the bathrooms. As I look back, Riverwoods was absolutely 100% the right choice and would not go anyplace else. I would recommend Riverwoods to anyone that might need these services. I was very pleased with the operations of this establishment. They went above and beyond for my family. They are genuinely good and caring people, they take the time to help during extremely difficult times. Stacy was an angel of compassion at a time when I physically and mentally exhausted and was in desperate need of a helping hand. I'm extremely grateful for everything they have done and can't thank them enough for being there for my family.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Before his passing, we had an initial visit with Michael regarding plot selection and he was helpful with helping us pick the location that best met our needs. No pressure, just a friendly visit and discussion. After he passed, we then worked with Sherry and Arlene to purchase the plot, casket, vault, shroud, death certificates, etc. The cost was substantial, but I imagine it is likely in line with other Jewish cemeteries in the area. Included in the cost is perpetual care of the grounds so there are no additional fees down the road. The chapel for his service was very nice and all of the people working there that day were super friendly. They live streamed his service which many in my family used. They also provided the ability to download the service which I decided to do. Shalom Memorial received the death certificates a few days afterwards from the village and we picked them right away so we could begin sending them to those who needed them. I really can't think of anything that I didn't like or was disappointed in.

While this process is always difficult, it couldn't have been easier or more smooth. Tony was wonderful: caring, thoughtful, resourceful, patient, and quick. He moved us through the decision-making process easily, recommended a rabbi and a Shiva location, and made things happen. The services were beautiful and meaningful, and our pain was eased because there was no additional stress. Many thanks from the Sandler family.
