There was also a covered entry which facilitated drop off and pick up without worry for inclement weather. And appreciated the very large parking lot to accommodate the many driving guests that came to the funeral we attended this past weekend. The facility was open and airy with very high ceilings which gave a feeling of spaciousness which was very important for some of us who do not want to feel crowded in during a time of grieving even if it is communal. The staff were very attentive and quietly present, overseeing and making sure guests knew where everything was. There was an excellent screen to facilitate photos being cycled of the deceased which helped guests feel connected through memories. There was a kitchen/table area where food could be handled and set up with coffee and tea available in addition to a water cooler. There was a side room with a couch for those who needed some quiet, family and elderly utilized that space. A cloak room made it easier to take off winter coats which made guests feel more welcome and comfortable. When we accidentally left our traveling bags behind in the cloak room we were able to reach the funeral director Julie Shim who stayed later to make sure we could pick up our suitcases for our travels early the next morning. Outstanding professionalism and customer care.

His "former former" ex wife that hasn't been in his life for 25 years told them that she was in charge and wouldn't let my mom in the family viewing and threaten to have her removed for being there in general. The funeral home did nothing when this was explained to them. They had the names above the doors wrong, one of his best friends pointed it out to the funeral home to make sure they cremate the right person but they didn't do anything about it. To make it even worse, a disorderly man went on a rant bashing my step father and it went on for far too long and no one stepped in or stopped him or asked him to leave until one of my step dads childhood friends stepped in. This happened in front of children that looked at him like a grandfather. This place was honestly disgusting, unprofessional, disrespectful and they had no empathy or sympathy. My step dad deserved better!!! From the moment you walked in the energy wasn't right but this service was cringe and unacceptable all around.

My mother had fluid leaking from her mouth when we arrived for the wake. No gloves were provided for the pallbearers, the extra mass booklets were lost or thrown out . But the unforgivable thing was my sweet mother had to be exhumed 3 weeks after she was laid to rest for the coroner to do an autopsy. Gene Cooney had buried her without a signed death certificate . Gene Cooney was reported to the state by the coroner for his negligence . I share this information hoping no one else has to experience this pain. Carmel

I'm so very pleased that we picked Nelson Family Mortuary for the funeral service and graveside…read moreservice of my 17-year-old granddaughter. We had the funeral service in their Provo funeral home and the graveside service in Heber City. Lance Nelson and his staff, Isabelle, Claire and Colin, were very patient and compassionate as I shed many tears each time I called the funeral home prior to my granddaughter's expected death and after. They listened each time I called and were very helpful. I called them every day during the two weeks of planning with questions I had about things, and it was great that someone was always available to help me; and if I had a question after hours, the answering service took a message, and I was contacted shortly thereafter. The rooms for the service in Provo were beautiful and had mountain views. Everything went smoothly. They provided tables with tablecloths, easels and stands for the flowers, two slideshows (for the viewing and a separate one for the funeral service), and livestreams for both services. Lance and Allison attended the funeral service and graveside service to make certain everything went smoothly. The planning meeting with them was easy. They had caskets onsite which was a surprise, and we picked the one we liked best. We expressed to them how we wanted the services to go, and they did every single thing the way we wanted. They also made my granddaughter look very beautiful in her casket for the viewing. She wore a single braid and they inserted tiny silk flowers we provided them plus matching nail polish. We received many compliments about how beautiful the funeral services were. I suggest you have the butterfly release, as it was extraordinary. If you're looking for a mortuary for a loved one, pick this place! I'm certain your experiences will be like ours: easy planning, and the most beautiful send off for your loved one. My family, friends and I will have these memories forever! I was even able to watch the service again on their website so that I remember each and every detail of it forever. Also, my sister who couldn't attend on the day of the service was able to watch it at a later date.
