His "former former" ex wife that hasn't been in his life for 25 years told them that she was in charge and wouldn't let my mom in the family viewing and threaten to have her removed for being there in general. The funeral home did nothing when this was explained to them. They had the names above the doors wrong, one of his best friends pointed it out to the funeral home to make sure they cremate the right person but they didn't do anything about it. To make it even worse, a disorderly man went on a rant bashing my step father and it went on for far too long and no one stepped in or stopped him or asked him to leave until one of my step dads childhood friends stepped in. This happened in front of children that looked at him like a grandfather. This place was honestly disgusting, unprofessional, disrespectful and they had no empathy or sympathy. My step dad deserved better!!! From the moment you walked in the energy wasn't right but this service was cringe and unacceptable all around.

My mother had fluid leaking from her mouth when we arrived for the wake. No gloves were provided for the pallbearers, the extra mass booklets were lost or thrown out . But the unforgivable thing was my sweet mother had to be exhumed 3 weeks after she was laid to rest for the coroner to do an autopsy. Gene Cooney had buried her without a signed death certificate . Gene Cooney was reported to the state by the coroner for his negligence . I share this information hoping no one else has to experience this pain. Carmel

But, NH Scott & Hanekamp truly went above and beyond to help my family say a proper goodbye to our loved one who passed unexpectedly. Prior to picking NH Scott, my family called and visited several other funeral homes in the area. From our very first interaction, it was clear that NH Scott was superior. During our initial meeting with Justyne, it was evident she was focused on making us comfortable and making sure we knew what to expect during each step of the process (as opposed to being more focused on the business or contractual aspects of the arrangements). This is why we chose NH Scott initially, and we couldn't be happier that we did. Our initial impression proved to be very accurate. Justyne and the other owners and employees, including Jon, continued to provide a high-level of customer service and emotional support throughout the entire process. They were always incredibly easy to reach any time we had a question or request, and continued to always respond with kindness and understanding. I truly cannot say enough good things about this funeral home. I am so grateful for their help during this difficult time.

This is one of those businesses you hope you never have to use. But that said, every service I have attended here has been handled with respect, decorum and professionalism. The last service we were at several months ago was set up to live stream the service. I thought that was a nice touch as sometimes people do not have the ability to travel to locations or get time off of work. There is a nice size parking lot and the physical space and rooms are well maintained and clean.

I have always believed in "people first money second" especially in a time like this. Jamie Greenbaum was born for this position, her sensitivity, compassion and understanding of people who have lost a loved one was impeccable. Unfortunately this was a covid funeral which had many limitations, but Jamie and staff helped us honor and celebrate my father's life beautifully. The night before we needed to get photos in so they can make a montage. One of our family members gave me the wrong email and all emails came back with our pics. I was in tears, Jamie and staff at 7am the next morning 3 hours before the funeral made a miracle and what a job they did!!!! Thank you for all you do, Lori

After witnessing an absolutely horrible funeral home before this, we found Colonial Wojciechowski. Their friendly demeanor and compassion were the first things we noticed. The space is beautiful, a lot lighter and open than most Chicago funeral homes. The dining area is modern and beautiful. The staff on the day of our visitation were incredibly helpful including helping with all the food prep in the dining area. All our guests said how welcoming the staff was when they entered as well. Al also helped us separating ashes for us and family after the service. Thank you so much for all you did for our family.

Let me preface this with the fact that my Great Uncle had made pre-arrangements with another funeral home... which closed a few years back (he was 94 at the time and living in a nursing home). As his Power of Attorney, I was put in the position to have to redo everything. Colonial was fantastic with helping me through all of the details. They were able to review what the previous funeral home had arranged and were able to match everything working within the costs that were preset. When I left after that initial meeting, I felt that everything was in good hands. Fast forward, a few years later when I received the call that my Great Uncle had passed, Colonial really stepped up. Al and his staff are extremely professional and I can't thank them enough for all they did.

It was established as a Polish cemetery in 1872. There are multiple former congressmen buried here, including Dan Rostenkowski, whose fall from grace was legendary in this area. Also found here in Section Two of the cemetery (in the east section, to the south of the entrance) is the tomb of George Halas, the founder of the Chicago Bears. I'm not from Chicago and not a football fan, least of all a Bears fan, but I found it interesting for the very large impact he had in the Chicago region. One thing I found really interesting at St. Adalbert is the number of really well-kept mausoleums. There were dozens that were built in the early 20th century that had windows that were recently cleaned, and you could see the art glass in the back wall of the structure clearly through the door. It was really interesting to see these ones that seem so carefully maintained after all these years.

My love for graveyard wanderings was sparked long before I became a 'regular' here, but this is the place where I was able to indulge in it on a regular basis. I lived across the street from this cemetery for about a year and a half after college (in my grandmother's house, so I grew up coming near here anyway) and was convinced ghosts would walk over and visit me. Despite the [lack of] friendly spirits, I'd visit often by walking in through an open gate in the fence (the house was across the street from the 'back' of the cemetery) or riding my bike around to the front entrance. I often took photos there. So why do I love this place? - The mausoleum is peaceful and has a lovely walkway. - Some uniquely carved stones. - Lots of history. I love learning about people. - One creepy, partially open (!?) grave. - It's very large. - It's a nice, quiet cemetery in a quiet part of town. - This is very sad actually, but there is a section reserved for babies and children. There's always a lot of stuffed animals and toys there. I think it's sweet they have a separate section. - I'm usually not the only one walking around for pleasure. I've seen people bike, jog, and walk their dogs on the paths and streets within the cemetery. Nostalgia is the reason I am writing this review. I miss walking through it.
