Matt Granados (MattWall) was to complete flooring, baseboards, demo, hang doors, and remove all old flooring and debris. It was to be 50% down and 50% at completion. The job was to take 2 weeks. After 4 weeks, not one room was complete. My home has been unlivable. I gave him 50% down which was $5000. After a week he asked for $2500 saying that if he didn't get it he couldn't pay his guys to return to complete the work. Over the course of the next couple weeks he asked for more money to pay the workers and for more materials. When questioned about why this was necessary he refused to give a direct answer, only letting me know that without it the job couldn't be completed. I'm a single mom. I worked for 10 years to make this project happen. All of which I told him. Honestly, once I gave him the initial $5000, I couldn't afford to pay someone else to finish the work, so I felt I had to keep giving him the money to ensure the job would be completed. After $9500, please see the pictures to understand just a portion of what he left me with. Not only is his craftsmanship poor, he is a swindler. I am now stuck trying to figure out this mess. Worst experience with a contractor. Mat is extremely attentive to answer his call for new business. He returned my calls within minutes of calling him and offered to give me a quote instantly. However, after I gave him a deposit of 1/3 the full cost it became extremely difficult to get him to show up at the house to do the work. When he showed up he always asked for more money and always had a new excuse of either more material than expected or new issue that would require more money. He will hustle you for money and have you stay with him because he always ask for money in advance before he even does the work. He will text saying he is on his way and would take anywhere from 3 - 4 hours to show up. When he did show up, he would only work 1-2 hours. Within a week, after many texts saying on his way he only showed up twice for like 2 hours each time. In some cases he never showed up. It seems like he drops everything to take new calls and get new business because he will offer to be at your house right away. He was remodeling a bathroom for my mother-in-law. Mat claims he know everything but he is not a general contractor, therefore don't trust him with any plumbing, tile, or electrical work. The BBB says he is only licensed in drywall. After various weeks of texting and trying to get him to finish, we fired him because the tile work he was doing was terrible and he was moving at turtle speed. The tile were all crooked and he did not respond to my feedback to fix it. He ended up leaving his tools behind at the time that we fired him and when we demanded our money back, he promised to give us $500 dollars back. Mat showed up at the house and broke in through the gate door to try to take his tools with no intentions of returning $500 dollars. We demanded the $500 dollars back before taking his tools and he threw at us $200 dollars. Clearly he never intended to return the money he promised. Initially he will be the nicest person when you talk to him but over the course of time he will give you many lies, false promises, and never deliver. I wish I would have read the reviews of the other people that hired him before me. This guy will give you the cheapest price but will give you terrible work if you even get him to show up. Keep searching and don't waste your time with Mat, otherwise you might have the same regret as me of not taking other reviews seriously. Attached are pictures or messy work he was doing. We foolishly paid him half up front plus a little bit each day that he showed up which was usually at random. He's always extremely late, and sometimes never shows up at all. He damaged our garage door, and tried to fix it himself instead of deducting the cost of the damage from the original price. My grandmother's house had an unexpected water damage a few months ago, causing severe damage to a lot of the dry wall. The drywall ceiling on the first floor even fell. Called Matt and he was incredibly quick to respond. He came over the next day and was able to get an assessment and quote that was fairly lower than other quotes. Matt is incredibly skillful in putting on drywall. The damage that at first seem severe to us, was able to be solved within a matter of a week. Had Matt remove an old AC unit and drywall and patch both the interior space it had been in. He even stuccoed the outside! It looked as if nothing had ever been there. He did a really good job at a very reasonable price. He did the first part of the job one day and returned another day to let the outside dry since it had been cold and raining. I'm writing this review about a year and a half after my experience with Matt. At first I didn't want to write this review because he does seem like a genuinely good guy. But my experience with him has bugged me ever since and i finally decided I needed to warn everyone here. So at first, he was really friendly. He even started his work on my home in West Covina on time and was doing a great job. Then, After his 2nd of 3 days worth of work, he asked me to give him the payment since it would be hard for me to get home in time to pay him the next day. The last day would have been an extra maybe 5 or 6 hours of work to finish off drywall repairs in my bathroom. Since I was a new young homeowner, I didn't know any better and went ahead and paid him. After he left with the check, I NEVER WAS ABLE TO GET HIM TO COME FINISH THE JOB!! Just like other reviews here, I would get a text response from him saying "I'll be there in 45 minutes" or "I'll be there tomorrow morning". Never came. I don't know if maybe he's improved since then, but he basically could not stick to his commitments and probably spread himself too thin. I would call him a robber for taking my money and never finishing the job but I actually think he didn't do it with malicious intent. Anyway, please be careful everyone. read more

This guy Matt is not worth hiring!!. His work is below par, and getting him to even show up is a nightmare. We hired to fix the drywall, it took several calls, a few days of waiting around for him to show up, and endless texts to get him to finally show up and patch a kitchen wall . He then said he could put a kitchen backsplash on, again, endless phone calls, un answered texts, saying he is on his way, and 2 - 3 hours pass with no Matt, no texts. He finally showed up, worked from 10:30 - 5:00 Pm and only half of a wall was done. He asked for $200 dollars and said would return the next day, finish the job and we would pay the balance once the job is complete. The next day came and went. WE FIRED HIM! This guy could care less.. The minimal work he did, did not amount to the $200 dollars we gave him. What a disappointment this guy is, believe the reviews people. Do not use Matt wall . He is located in colton, and also says Pico Rivera. Now we will do the Tile ourselves and I know we will do a better job than what he left. They were available to come out to do the estimate ,and start the next day all in one shot. I was surprised how fast he went to work, and how fast he prepped the house so his work didnt interfere with the other parts of the house. Not only did he do what I asked with the actual repair, he went above and beyond to match the stucco, blended it in, and make it brand new again.
