I was in the market for a new mattress and checked the usual…read moresuspects, Sleepy's, Mattress Discounters, etc. but wanted to research some other stores just in case I was missing a good deal. So I headed over to my friend Yelp and found That Mattress Place. It had pretty awesome reviews, so I figured what the heck, let's check it out. I was immediately greeted and after telling the gentlemen what I was looking for, he put me through a rigorous selection process to find just the right mattress...he had me roll around on several mattresses to test them out. It was actually a lot of fun. The mattresses are all lined up against the wall with no space in between, so I just rolled down the whole line..ladies be sure to wear pants! LOL. Anyway, though it seemed like a lot of fun and games, he was able to accurately pinpoint the type of mattress I desired, firm with a touch of soft and plush. I tested a couple others and was able to pick my mattress within 15 minutes of arriving! After selection, on to payment discussions and delivery (he said he could deliver that afternoon but I was heading to a couple other spots after, so I wasn't available. But same day delivery was awesome!) Delivery is $60 which is the typical amount but my mattress was about $400 cheaper than what I saw on other websites. *WINNING!* From the moment I stepped into the store, the customer service was excellent, the prices were fabulous and overall I am very pleased. Can't wait to get my new mattress today! Oh and I found out that this place is 100% referral. The gentlemen asked how I heard about the store and I told him Yelp. He said that they don't have commercials (which is true, I've never heard of this place), no ads, just referrals and reviews! So if you go, be sure to tell a friend or leave a review.

I stopped at nearly every store and finally settled on That Furniture Place. It's in a tiny strip mall. They had a girl in a skimpy pink outfit standing on a mattress on the roof of an SUV waiving at traffic this afternoon. I know, I know...stay with me now. The owner of this shop used to work at one of the reputable furniture shops on the same street and he opened his own place. He knows where to buy quality mattresses without all the brand names that hike up the price. He has been doing well and recently expanded to the space next door so he can sell more furniture. The store is super simple- nothing fancy about it, no paint, no decorations, nothing. And I'll take that any day if that means I pay less for a great mattress. I paid for delivery with a private guy he recommended and they are okay but were running a little late when they brought my mattress over.

We found pillow tops-DOUBLE-SIDED pillow tops (where else can you find that without paying at least $1000?!!!). The answer is NOWHERE!! The Queen sets are normally $300-on sale for now (double check) for $250. WHAT?! Yes ma'am. Yes sir! You can't beat that deal. I got a chance to meet the man himself & he was helpful and friendly. My trip was quick and to the point. He even loaded the mattress in my van for me. He's been in the business for over 20 years and he knows his craft. He wants to help people and you can tell. Called Mr. Jerry on Tuesday and was scheduled for a Friday delivery but the weather was bad with rain and we just had to wait and see if it was going to stop raining. He didn't put the box spring on the delivery van as he agreed and when the delivery man didn't have it we called and he refused to speak with us. We traveled all the way back to the store and he said upon the refund he would be keeping 75 for the delivery. Then said it was about principle. There's no principle when you trying to finesse your only customer in the store.

(Which we did, for an additional $99) After that with this guarantee you have 120 days from the original sale date to bring the bed back if you're still not happy. You pay a $99 pick up charge and a 20% restocking fee not to be more than $250. Your Happiness is their Guarantee..... so they say. Anyway, this is why I'm unhappy and stuck with my mattress. We wanted a mattress. We picked it out. We looked up the price. We settled on a deal. Turns out, this particular bed has been discontinued and the only one left if the floor model. The salesperson took $300 off the floor model and spoke highly of the Happiness Guarantee. Selling the guarantee more than the bed. We are now owners of a very expensive floor model that come to find out....... has to warranty or guarantee whatsoever. (In the fine print) I since got in touch with Mattress Firms Corporate Office and they said sorry, it's their policy to offer no warranty or guarantee on a floor model. They went on to add, that's the reason we received such a huge discount. We didn't even get a huge discount. The huge discount is the reason there's no warranty or guarantee. So as you can see, with a $300 discount for it being a floor model I figured it still had a warranty and guarantee. I also thought it had a warranty and guarantee because the salesperson spoke so highly of the "Happiness Guarantee". (Which does not apply to floor models. In the past, I have been burned by other furniture companies with not scheduling my correct delivery date. So a hour would give me a chance to break down my bed because I wanted to make sure a bed and mattress was going to be delivered. Of course, I get a call from the driver telling me they are 10-20 mins away...I'm like what happen to my hour notice. He says I'm sorry miss however due to our schedule we are calling you now. It take 20 seconds to call someone. So I explained the option that was given to me by the store. He asks would you like to reschedule no I want the agreement given to me. No point of going back and forth! I tell him I will reschedule. When I purchased the furniture the sales lady took me to a back office to speak to the representative cashier. She was suppose to update my info. I had all my information updated because they had 3 different profiles for me (not sure how that happen). I even gave the rep my driver license to make sure my information was correct. Your all set ma'am everything is updated. So when I called the store to reschedule and of course my address states I live in an apartment(I live in a house). It was not updated! Ugh! At least this representative was nice and apologize and offered me a discount. No one could give me an answer on why Value City offers a time option for the driver to call but it did not happen. So I cancelled my order. The only reason I gave it three stars is because the sales lady and second rep was nice. Hopefully I will get a better experience when I relocate to North Carolina (fingers crossed).

This was totally because I needed a living set quickly . I had several failed deliveries from top furniture stores . The door frame was not cooperating . The online phone representation was amazing . All was explained no hidden fees . One issue they don't assemble that I was aware of and wasn't explained . This was an online /phone transaction. I'm sure this was on the papers I signed but I should have read completely. I should have also been told . That's the only big thing I have an issue with . That's why I gave 4 stars .
