He stopped right IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRANSACTION, turned some kind of review apparatus around and told me to put my review in right then and there before the transaction was even finished. I know mattress shopping is an inherently awful experience- misleading marketing gobblygook, pricing discrimination, and an asymmetry of information biased almost entirely in the seller's favor. That said, I wanted to buy a name brand mattress and was wiling to pay a premium price for the ability to sample the field before committing to a multi-thousand dollar investment. Who would think that having the opportunity to browse a showroom independently would be such a tall order? The rep that engaged us had my girlfriend and I lay on their supposed state of the art "bed match" simulator that would measure our body features and tell us exactly what we needed. We played along, hoping once the canned speeches and showroom spectacles were over we'd have the opportunity to window shop on our own, and hopefully identify a mattress that we both found comfortable and negotiate a price...not so. Despite stating clearly at the onset that we were at the early stages of our search and wanted to do our due diligence and sample the field, they hounded us in the store the entire time, guiding us only towards their most expensive models. When we told the rep we were unlikely to commit to a purchase that day, we were handed off to the "store manager with 11 years in the business" who gave us even more marketing gobblygook and pressed us for what we needed for them to earn our business that day. A less aggressive sales strategy would probably be a good start. I know these guys make a living predominantly off commission, and I know their incomes can fluctuate wildly based on the price of the sale so they want their customers to pick the most expensive models before learning that there is indeed a middle ground (I've had a $600 Sealy that has served me wonderfully for the last 10 years), but I think they could do a better idea of identifying which customers aren't naive enough to make a $2,500 impulse purchase after trying 3 beds and find a way to cater to their needs- by giving them the room to shop and sample beds without someone staring at them the entire time! read more

Back at the end of 2019, I was trying to find a mattress for a platform bed but, after looking around, they kept pushing me to buy a mattress/box springs with an adjustable base (which I couldn't afford and they knew it). I also tried to look at side-sleeper pillows but was told (and sold) the best one, Bed Gear Storm 1.0. I didn't like the original mattress I got and exchanged it two months (just before we went into lockdown). There is a huge dip in the middle of the mattress, which might may you think it is old or defective but the staff assured that this is normal for these types of mattresses. I have had nothing but trouble since then - persistent back pain leading to chronic neck pain, knee issues, and plantar fasciitis. I have been to multiple doctors and therapists but no one can resolve the problem because the problem is the mattress. I can't afford to get another bed right now so this setup is basically a very expensive waste of space (and money). I get better sleep on my 15-year-old sofa bed and a real side-sleeper pillow, which only cost $20. Recommendation - go for the cheapest, most comfortable and forget any fancy equipment. read more

Here is my story: We bought Tempur-pedic mattress here for 3,474 dollars and guy who worked there (his name is JAMES) is a store manager as well. The mattress seemed comfortable and because of 90 days trial period we decided to buy it. Only 7 days later I started to feel strong pain in my back and I slept horrible on it! I called JAMES and told him I want to return the mattress. He was very rude on the phone with me and told me I have to try sleeping there for a month! I can't take pain anymore and I don't want to sleep on it for 30 days because I am in such a pain every time I sleep on it! James told me that I HAVE to sleep a month on it -- isn't that crazy?? That was extremely unprofessional and horrible customer service! I will report them for not receiving the item back, even though it stands so in the policy. UPDATE: We didn't get our money back (as promised) but, thanks to John from directory office and lady who comment on my review, we exchange mattress for other one. We finally sleep well after 2 months. People from the WM directory made me give one more star for this review. Thank you again for trying to fix James's mess. Avoid this business! We bought two expensive mattresses from this store. The salespeople were friendly and talkative until we made the purchase. When the second mattress was delivered, they did not bring the mattress protector as they did with the first mattress delivery. We called and emailed but nobody got back to us. Then, my husband stopped by to let them know of the problem and they handed him one they had in store. When I opened the package at home, I realized that it wasn't the high quality one that we received with the delivery of the first mattress. Still giving them the benefit of doubt, I gave it a try only to realize that it was a slippery and rubbery piece of junk that moves around under the sheets. My husband took it back to the store and was completely shocked by Joe's unprofessional and aggressive attitude. Salesman said the delivery crew would take apart the competitor mattress and springs, set up the frame, then re-establish the mattress and springs. Delivery crew said they do not touch competitor mattresses and springs. Salesman said everything was ready for delivery, but delivery crew did not have all parts of frame. Delivery crew did not verify that all parts of frame were loaded on truck prior to delivery Contacted Regional Manager with information. He said he would have salesman contact us. However, we were never contacted. Every contact with salesman had to be initiated by us. In short, there is no customer service, and we will not do business with this firm again. read more

My salesperson was great David! But I had the worst delivery service ever in my life. We had just moved into our new home (brand new completely remodeled) two days before. There was mud everywhere. The two Hispanic guys arrived with my box spring. One came to the door the other was with the truck across the street. The one at the door started yelling to the other guy in our front door very loud. My daughter in-law asked if he would not yell, she had JUST put the baby to sleep (who was ill with the flu. He came in to assess the situation whether or not they would be able to bring it in the front door. He went downstairs where my box spring was going - started yelling again - saying that, they couldn't go thru the living room - my daughter told them they could go around to the back door, but they would have to cover or take off their shoes to prevent tracking mud on the floors. They were not happy about it but they did it. They were starting speaking to each other in Spanish - my daughter in law understands enough to hear them call her a B...... She is completely stunned - she called my son down who was with the my grandson trying to put him back to sleep. They are furious that we asked them to take off their shoes and there was not any carpet - it was flooring. This is my house and if I ask you to take off your shoes or cover them to prevent you from tracking mud and dirt thru my house that should not be a problem. However it was for them and voiced their dislike to my son. At this point my asked them to just finish and leave. One of them continued to voice his dislike - complained that there is no carpet so they should not have to take off their shoes. They started to wipe off their socks onto my rug in the bathroom. My son told no to do that and to leave right now. They called him the N word - continued to cuss at him and threaten him to be careful. Give the gesture to my daughter in-law to his penis and stuck up the middle fingers as they were leaving our home. MY HOME!!! THIS IS COMPLETELY DISTRUBING! I contacted the delivery service - spoke to two people -sent them pictures of the two guys (we have a ring camera) and the picture of the one that stuck up his middle finger to my FAMILY!! I can not believe this happen to my family. How do you have employees that think that this kind of behavior is ok. I still have not heard from anyone at all. But I keep trying. read more

I really like this store of Mattress Warehouse. Its a walking distance from our apartment in Ballston, and has decent collection of mattress. We've bought one mattress and exchanged one from this store and are very happy with both. The cherry on the cake is their store manager George. He is the guy we wanted to do business with. He is informative, guided us to the best option, and informed us of the various choices we have without being pushy at all. He encouraged us to take a few says to make our choice on our Mattress and it turned out perfect. I recommend working with him. Complete retraction! The mattress after one night, in less than 10 mins sags like a piece of used cushion. Their return policy is "must keep mattress for 30 days" before you can return... which means you are left with horrible sleepless nights for 30 days!!! This is no willingness to assist other than call customer service that has a Monday thru Friday business day/hour times, which means if you got Friday or weekend delivery, you suffer until you even get to talk to some who would even consider some remediation. read more

My husband and I purchased a Tempur Pedic mattress here a few weeks ago. We came in knowing what we wanted (but needing to determine the particular style) and purchased the mattress from Dashka. He was nice, a little pushy. We did have to bargain our way down in price a bit and coerce a few free items out of him. But the one star service stems from the delivery experience. We picked a Friday and my husband stayed home from work all day to receive the mattress. They do not call until 7am-9am to tell you your 3-hour window that day. So we were up at 7 to get the call, and he waited around all day for the delivery. When they finally arrived, the mattress was filthy. Very dirty. Even the mattress delivery men told us not to accept the delivery. Tempur Pedic mattresses are way too expensive to accept a sub-par product. So we rejected delivery, and I called the store's manager to reschedule delivery. I spoke with Dashka, the same salesperson we had in-store. He was immediately defensive and told me this "never happens," it wasn't their fault and must have been Tempur Pedic's fault. However, that mattress should have been inspected before it went on the truck and they wasted an entire day of my husband's time. Of course, he said they couldn't re-deliver on the same day, and that he would have to wait until they were back (up to 9pm) before he told me if they could deliver Sunday. He told me that they don't normally deliver Sundays and acted like it was a huge favor that they would do so for me. So I sat around waiting for his call and killed my Friday night. They did deliver Sunday -- and they delivered to several other people too, so I was nothing special. Again, I was told a 7am-9am window, so I was up at 7 on my Sunday. But they didn't call until 11:30am. Then they gave me a 3-hour window even later in the day, so my Sunday was wasted as well. Thankfully the mattress was at least clean this time. I called Dashka and asked for some sort of compensation for my and my husband's wasted time -- what amounted to 2 entire days and a night. He works, this was a major inconvenience. Dashka told me that he had given me the best possible deal he could and there was nothing he could do, but then over the course of the conversation admitted that he could have offered me a free bed frame, which he didn't, and that he could have offered me a free mattress topper (off-brand name), but he didn't. And when I mentioned my friends got a Tempur Pedic brand name mattress topper with their mattress purchase, which is true, he told me to give him their phone number so he can make sure it's true -- there is no way I was willing to do so. He was very rude to me during the call. So I asked for the number of the regional manager -- I feel he should know how his salespeople are treating people, how they are delivering unclean mattresses, and how they are willing to completely waste their customers' time. He of course has not called me back. I am very unhappy with their service. I could have gotten the exact same mattress at any number of mattress stores for exactly the same (or better) of a deal, and would have had a much more pleasant experience and week. My neighbor had a great experience here so I thought I would give it a try. I told the salesperson many times that I was shopping for a bed for a 3-year-old. I wound up buying a mattress and box spring and was assured that I could return either if they didn't work but would have to pay a restocking fee. I was NOT told that the second I removed the plastic, it was un-returnable. Well, you just CANNOT have a mattress and box spring for a 3-year-old; the bed was way too tall. Someone else told me later that we should have bought a "bunky board," and that that was the common solution for kids. To make matters worse, MW does sell the bunky board. It would have been perfect and I would have saved a bit of money. When I complained about my situation, the manager sold me a bunky board at a discount but his only solution for the brand-new, unused box spring was Craigslist. I normally never write reviews online, but I've had such a horrible experience with the Mattress Warehouse that I feel compelled to share my story, in hopes that someone else may avoid going through what I did. I bought a new Tempurpedic Cloud mattress, paid around $1,900, back in March. It arrived and we were very excited about it. However, I started noticing that I was waking up with back pains. I thought maybe I just needed some time to let the mattress air out. The salesperson at Mattress Warehouse assured us that we just need to let it air out and that we had 90 days to change our mind, so I thought we would be ok in the case the mattress did not work out. A s we approached the 90 day period, my back was getting noticeably worse to a point I would be waking up with severe pain every morning (I had never had back pain before this). So I called Mattress Warehouse and said I would like to exchange the bed and use their 90 day guarantee. They said, sure no problem. Little did I know I was about to get ripped off. As you all know, the markup on mattresses can be anywhere for 100-300%...so when you first buy a mattress from them, they have incentive to negotiate because their margins are so high. However, when it comes to exchanging a mattress, Mattress Warehouse already has you locked in so they can charge you anything - therefore, they can charge premium retail - in other words, the price they were willing to sell us the mattress for was 2K higher than their advertised price in the store. We wanted to buy a new BeautyRest Black Brooklyn mattress, which if you look online is only $2,300 (which is not cheap but manageable). The said they would sell it to us for over $4,000 plus a $200 restocking fee. I felt helpless and furious as they were completely taking advantage of the fact that this was an exchange. After many phone calls with their headquarters, they came down in price slightly. I ended up losing over $1200 out of pocket through the entire exchange process - thus, I paid $1200 more for the beautyrest via the exchange than if I had just bought it initially.. I didn't have a choice as my back was in so much pain at this point and I needed sleep. It's really disheartening. I do not recommend Mattress Warehouse unless you are 100% sure of the mattress. Do not be tricked by their 90 day guarantee - it's a bunch of bs. read more

This is the first review I ever write on the internet. I guess it gives you an idea of my experience.. Long story short, box-spring broke three years in. I was directed to the website by a store salesman to have it replaced, put an online request.. simple right? No really.. I didn't hear back after 10 DAYS, so I called customer service, I left a message because no one answered. I get a call back in about a WEEK, the person didn't know why the online request wasn't showing in their system. I'm informed someone will come in TWO WEEKS to evaluate the mattress and box-spring. So we wait, only to find out on a follow up call that this 2-week visit is to evaluate the mattress and box-spring to come up with a report that will ultimately say whether the warranty will cover it or not. Please note the box-spring broke when I sat on the bed (Yes, all 5 legs were in good contact with the ground. No, I am not overweight (BMI 22), and No I didn't jump on the bed!). I was frustrated with waiting so I called to see if there's anything else that can be done as my wife and I were having worse back pain every day, left another message letting them know that we're frustrated and thinking about canceling the whole thing because of our experience. Next thing I know, I get an e-mail 41 MINUTES LATER asking if I was sure I wanted to cancel the request before they did! Not much service in that customer service. It's not a horrible story, it just gave me an idea of what their bottom line is. It took more than 2 weeks to put a request in, and an expected wait time no less than 2-3 weeks to approve (if they do), but 41 MINUTES TO CANCEL A REQUEST from a frustrated customer! No thanks! Used car salesmen are easier to deal with then the people at this store. If I could give them a zero rating I would. Pleasant salespeople UNTIL there is a problem with the mattress. I spent $1400 on a queen size mattress set. Sagged terribly after 3 months (I'm 5'7" and 130 lbs) so I went back to the store to discuss the warranty and a replacement. The salesperson actually yelled at me and told me to get out of the store, it was a horrible experience. After 1 month of phone calls and letters and emails and frustration a new mattress was delivered (for $100 delivery fee) which lasted about 6 months before sagging. I think they replaced the original with a used one. I eventually threw it out, went to Macy's and bought a decent mattress that has lasted for 2 years. I bought an extremely expensive tempurpedic mattress set here, but when it came for delivery, we could not fit it up our narrow staircase. The delivery person was very polite and told us he did not want to damage the property, so we decided to return the mattress set. No problem, we'll just get a refund, right? The salesman Jeff was extremely sketchy, wouldn't give us a refund, just kept trying to get us to buy a queen size bed instead. Repeatedly, we said we were not interested and wanted a refund. After a week of phone calls, he finally says he will give us a refund, within 30 days. Last time I checked, it takes about 3 seconds to process a return on a credit card. Buying the mattress at the store was fine. everything went smooth. set up to have mattress delivered in the next couple of days. on delivery day they called me at 730 am to let me know my delivery time was from 7am-10am.. i was already on my way to work. once i fought my way threw rush hour traffic they didnt show up durning the time frame. called store and they said truck broke down. new delivery time is 2pm-5pm. i asked if there is any way they could give me a smaller window that they would arrive. they could not. i now have waisted a whole work day sitting in my house watching awful day time tv. read more

The sales guy here is a moron (I think his name is Datchka). Both the person in front of me and I both had issues with delivery. I just got a call (day of delivery after ordering yesterday and being told my mattress would come today) and was told it is on back order. I told the sales rep that I'm leaving Monday for a week and he guaranteed me it would be here today. I then told the sales guy it was unacceptable and he needed to reconcile it so he offered me pillows after I said yesterday that I already had pillows. Then on top of everything, he starts arguing with me that it's not his fault and starts talking down to me. He did he same with the guy in front of me who was moving to he area. In that case though, he pulled a bait and switch and told the customer there was free shipping as long as he could accommodate the stores schedule, otherwise he has to pick it up himself and strap the mattress to the top of his car (clearly the customer was not happy with that but needed his mattress on a certain day otherwise would have to sleep on the floor for over a week). Net, net I'm going to get my mattress elsewhere because this place is less that accommodating... I want to add to my prior post. I did have an incident with Dashka (I believe this is the correct spelling), who is apparently only there to help temporarily, but the store manager James did everything in his power to make the situation right. Big kudos to James so I'm changing my rating from 1 star to 3 based on James' tenacity to make his customer happy read more

Well, I suppose we should have known better than to take a salesperson's word without getting it in writing ... we bought an extremely expensive mattress here several weeks ago, with the salesman explaining that while there was no official return policy, as there is on tempurpedic, if we ended up not liking the mattress, he could call his distributor and probably get us an exchange. After two weeks with the mattress, we decided we don't like it -- can't live with it in fact -- and called to ask about an exchange. A different salesman on the phone today said flatly that they don't do that sort of thing and there's nothing they can do to help us. I asked to speak to a manger or the owner, and I'm waiting to hear back. The mattress is in brand new condition -- box springs still in plastic -- so hopefully he'll be more willing to work with us than the guy I talked to today.
