Recently, it actually started to cause me some lower back pain. So as much as I dreaded mattress shopping, I knew it had to be done. Maybe there are people out there that get excited about mattress shopping, but I'm not one of them. But alas, it was on my long list of adulting to-dos on my day off. I was running some errands in a shopping center nearby, so I decided to drop in. The store was mostly empty, but I was immediately greeted by a warm and welcoming employee by the name of Abdul. I had a general sense of how much I was willing to pay but had no idea where to start. Luckily for me, Abdul was knowledgeable, thorough and patient while educating me along the way. With his guidance, I was able to test out over a half dozen different mattresses before finding one that I felt was a great fit for me. I was also able to arrange delivery for the next day, which included a service to remove my old mattress as well. Not only was my experience in store five stars, but so was the delivery service. They were able to confirm on arrival time that was accurate and when they arrived, the delivery folks were fast and friendly. Hopefully it will be awhile before I have to shop for a mattress again, but I was so pleased by the service provided here that I would gladly return as a customer in the future! The punchline is that Kevin opened a credit…read morecard for 12-month 0% financing without my authorization when I expressly and directly told him that I would not allow any credit inquiries before we closed on our home. Notwithstanding my express instruction, Kevin opened a credit card in my name without my authorization. The credit card is now on my credit report even though we did not end up purchasing a mattress from Mattress Warehouse. As they say: buyer beware. For those curious, here is the longer story: My fiance and I walked into Mattress Warehouse looking for a king size mattress for our first home. Kevin was available and helped us. The experience started out positive with Kevin very attentive and clearly trying to appease us to get the sale. He was patient and listened to our needs - he even went so far as to compliment what a great match my fiance and I seemed to be for each other. Typical sales tactics. Kevin advised us that there was 0% 12-month financing available without any mention of a required credit card. Kevin also advised that the store was running a special that would take $400 off the price of a mattress. We spent a couple of hours trying different mattresses and eventually settled on a Tempur Pedic option. We sat down to finalize the sale. Once we made it clear that we were going to make a purchase, we saw a different side of Kevin. Now that we were ready to buy the mattress, all of a sudden the $400 discount only applied to pillows and accessories - not the price of the mattress. Moreover, Kevin "accidentally" overcharged us for the mattress cover that we decided to add. Once we pointed this out, he corrected it explaining that it was a mistake. Kevin then put a credit card application in front of me without explaining what it was. Once I read it and realized what it was, I asked him why I needed a credit card application. He explained that the credit card was required to obtain the 12-month interest free financing. At this point, we were less than a week from closing on our house, and I explained that I would not authorize any credit inquiries before we closed on our house. Kevin said that was fine, and we could put down a deposit and complete the application and purchase after we closed on our home. A week later, I got an alert on my credit report that a new credit card had been opened in my name . . . on the date that we visited mattress warehouse. I called the main line to get a refund for the deposit and let them know that the store opened a credit card - not only without my authorization, but in contravention of the express direction I had given. The main office contacted the store, and Kevin's associate had the audacity to call us and offer an additional free pillow if we still wanted to go through with the sale. The associate explained that Kevin opened the card "accidentally" - which sounded familiar given his previous overcharge of the mattress cover. Needless to say, we rejected that offer. Be very cautious if you decide to do business with this store because we found Kevin, who is the manager, to be misleading multiple times. We are now dealing with the headache of trying to remove the unauthorized credit card from my credit report.

I take sleep VERY seriously and appreciate the system they have to narrow down their selections. Edrees wasn't pushy, took his time to explain what he was doing when having us test out like 7 different models & their features, and then left us alone for a few to make up our own minds. It was a good processes and we felt good about the decision. This brands are all solid and well-known, and their process seems pretty tight. Give yourself an hour or so if you go, it's no surprise these things aren't inexpensive and you're going to spend a quarter of your life in bed, so make it count.

Googled and found Mattress Mike which was near me and didn't know existed. Took a chance and decided to drop by in person to see what was available which was on a Saturday. I found a nice three piece set: couch, loveseat, and chair that was available. Decided to check another place and found the same set for slightly cheaper. Came back to talk with Alberto (who was super nice and worked with me patiently) on comparing prices. He was able to match for the cheaper price if I was able to buy that set that day or next day and get delivery by Monday. I went ahead and got it. Fast forward to Monday. I got a call from Alberto saying their delivery guys could only find two of the three pieces for my order to deliver. I could get a black/white set (in picture below) or try another set that was similar at no additional charge since their was an error on the factory end. He sent a text with the picture of the available option which I also really liked and I decided to go with it. They delivered it by 4pm on Monday. Delivery guys were super fast and polite. I would highly recommend using them again even with the slight hiccup they handle extremely well. Picture 1: set in the store they had to showcase. The old one was about 8 years old, the age when they say it's about had it, anyway. Buying a mattress is a bit like buying a new car- you only do it every few years, and a lot changes in the interim, so I had checked out the ratings with Consumer's Reports. Problem is, there are so many new brands and types of mattresses on the market, it's difficult to do apples to apples comparisons. We decided to go to the closest place, Mattress Warehouse, in Tenleytown. We were met by Fatima, who was very friendly and helpful, having us first use their evaluator device, which is supposed to ascertain the optimal fit for you. Fatima showed us numerous mattresses, based on our needs. She was nice enough to provide us with sanitary coverings to lie on, as these mattresses have been used a lot and tend to get a bit grungy. Fatima also introduced us to Mr. Clarence, the manager, who was also friendly and helpful, while not being pushy and trying to force us to decide right away. We looked at several models and price points, some of which, while nice, were quite a bit above our budget. Note: let them know what your budget is, and they won't waste your (and their) time showing things above it. Our issue: I am always cold and side sleep, husband is hot and sleeps on his stomach. So we wanted to stay away from memory foam, and unfortunately, some of the others we were curious about have separate sales outlets and run into the thousands of dollars- too, too much. After a lot of try outs and head scratching, we took a break for lunch to mull over our options and make a decision. We did stop by the other big chain, (Mattress Firm) and their selection wasn't impressive. We came back to the store and Fatima wrote up our sale, and Mr. Clarence offered us a free cooling pillow, to go with the one purchased for my "hot headed" hubs. All in all, we had a positive experience in the store, and our new mattress arrived this morning, delivered by two guys who were in and out in 60 seconds, taking the old mattress with them. Note: Show the delivery guys a little love with a tip- lugging mattresses around all day is hard work. It remains yet to be seen if we made the right choice. I'll post an update after we've had a week or two to try the new mattress out.
