Gary inspected the ring in great detail and made a recommendation to remove some of the shank and rebuild it, as well as to place tension springs to prevent spinning and slipping. He took his time to measure my finger for the optimal fit. I was told by another jeweler that all of my prongs needed replacement and I wanted a second opinion. Gary again took his time to inspect all the prongs and reassured me that they didn't need replacement. I was very glad for his honesty. The next business day, Gary fixed the ring in 3-4 hours and it came out beautifully. I was so nervous previously to entrust someone with my ring, but I felt at ease. Gary offered that I stay and watch the entire process. He told me to inspect my gemstone carefully after his job was complete as general good practice after having my jewelry worked on! I am so happy with the end result and strongly recommend this jeweler. The key factors that impressed me most were honesty, trustworthiness, attention to detail, patience, mastery of his craft, and sharing of knowledge/providing an understandable rationale for his decision-making. I realize they might encourage appointments, but one buyer is not enough in today's market standards and climate that is rapidly shifting. The older man is waiting on 2 females, after 25 minutes acknowledging me that I was sitting, approaches me, looks at the diamond ring, instead of giving it back to me, he places it on the Center table and runs back and says 10 more minutes. Above and beyond that it ended up being an excessive 40 minute wait again. By the time the ring was examined, he was going with an offer, but started testing and trying to then reduce the profit margin when I asked if he wanted me to remove the diamond from the setting to identify the exact size. Older man, old school approach, VISIBLE scratches on his hand, obviously not the most professional vibe Due diligence I would say fair, Could be better in my opinion. They said they could resize it... and boy did they!!! This vintage Masonic ring from the 1930s looks brand new and fits like a charm. The ring looks as though it were made for me... unique... not like one of those cheesy new rings either... a classic refitted and will be worn with pride. The price was below what I was quoted, and I was told early July but had the ring three weeks early. Highest recommendation for Harborlight Jewelers... great service, prices and quality.
