I am pregnant with a September due date. My fingers are swollen and I have not been able to get my rings off for the past few months. I believe it was Gregory and his father who helped me today. They were extremely professional and kind. My rings mean so much to me that I was distraught to have to cut them off, but the anxiety of potentially having them removed at the hospital was too much! I couldn't feel better about the experience. They took so much care cutting them off my finger. My finger is still indented over 9 hrs later so I feel that getting them off was definitely the best move. I look forward to returning to the store to get them resized in a few months. read more

What a low rent experience.... I went in to buy a pair of earrings for my wife and had the misfortune of working with Rebecca. I figured the store would be decent and given its proximity to my house I wanted to give the local Jewelry store a chance. The store is a very average to middle tier Jewelry outfit. Think Jarred. Do not expect to see Cartier, Patek, Rolex or alike. The issue wasn't the store itself. It was the help or lack thereof that I received from Rebecca. Her attitude was terrible. There was some negotiation in price where I was asking for 5% off. The gruff, dismissive and nasty response was if you sleep on it you will pay full price. I said great. She then recommended I look somewhere cheaper. I went into Boston and bought a pair of 1 carat Diamond studs. I'd never recommend this store and in fact in chatting with a few neighbors here in Cohasset they had similar experiences. read more

This was our first visit to Descenza Diamonds. I was looking to upgrade my wife's engagement ring to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and we headed to the Hingham store. From end to end, our customer experience was first rate thanks to our salesperson Donna Ebata who is a consummate professional. Donna greeted us warmly, was infectiously enthusiastic, gave us relevant alternatives to choose from, answered all our questions, and had the ring ready when she said it would be. Positive news is positive, so they gave it another try and it worked. My guess is they misqued and went back and did it. This is a place that we will go back to again and again. We worked with Brett and he made us feel like we were his only clients throughout the entire process. He made it clear that every decision was up to us and never went over our budget. After spending close to 8K on a pair of diamond earrings I noticed quickly that the earring back on one of the earrings was always slipping and it always looked like my earring was falling out. Lo and behold it finally did and I lost the earring. Fortunately and miraculously I found it two weeks later. When I called to have the backs replaced I was told it would be $250 as they no longer carried the same back. You have to be kidding me. I went to another jewelry store and they are ordering the back replacements for $60. Good business is to treat customers fairly, this is not good business. read more

I have done business at the Hingham location a few times. Clean, well merchandised and great selection. Purchased diamond studs at this location a few years ago- recently lost one of the backings and made a 45 min ride to Hingham to get a new one ( have lost one before and had it replaced with no problem.) Perhaps the rain was dampening their moods the day I came in- the front desk sales person was completely "put out" that I needed to purchase a new backing. She abruptly told me that my earrings were discontinued and the backing was no longer available. She was happy to offer me the $100 option of sending my earrings out to have the posts changed. I took my studs to my local jeweler (Forest Beach Designs in Chatham, MA) and they found a backing for me within 24 hours for $65. This will be the last time I do any business with a bigger "box" jeweler. My time and hard earned dollars are more appreciated by the mom & pop shops. PS: while getting my $65 backing at Forest Beach Designs in Chatham I spent an extra $2k on an anniversary band. Retailers need to respect every customer no matter how small the service- it always leads to future business. read more

We had been shopping for an engagement ring and had it narrowed down to one at Descenza and one at another jeweler in Hingham. We felt like we got a much better value and much better service at Descenza. They stayed within our budget and my ring is beyond gorgeous. read more

My family has used Descenza several times in the past with good results. One person brought their solitaire there to be reset and although it was somewhat pricey, the work was done well. However, I just took a family diamond there to be reset. The price they quoted us was absolutely beyond outrageous. Although they claimed it was due to the price of gold, a quick search online revealed that I could simply replace the part that needed repair for 1/3 to 1/2 the price they quoted. I want to rave about salesperson Donna Ebata. I needed advice retrofitting a wedding ring with a larger diamond and adding a band, and repairing a sentimental jewelry piece. She was extremely nice and helpful and her excellent taste helped guide me through the process. There are so many choices. I had comparison shopped first and Donna's service and DeScenza's choices were head and shoulders above the rest. She is truly outstanding at what she does and how she does it. You can count on DeScenza for giving you top quality. There is a lot of variation out there and a jeweler's trustworthiness is paramount. read more

I love this place! My husband bought my ring in Boston from Brett (who we think is great) about 6 years ago and we've been customers ever since! Now that we work on the south shore it's much easier for us to shop in their Hingham store. No matter who helps us, or what we're buying, they always go above and beyond...who doesn't love to have someone ask you if you'd like your jewelry cleaned (for free) while you browse?? I've never felt any pressure to buy something and love that they have a huge selection for every budget as I don't see us making any major jewelry purchases any time soon. Needed something fixed on my mens rolex watch, stopped by Derby street location and had it corrected on the spot. They also provided appraisal on watch at very good price. I went in shopping for engagement rings, the store was a bit busy with all of the sales people occupied, but I literally stood around for a good half hour before anyone acknowledged my presence. A simple "we'll be with you shortly" would have gone a long way. When I finally did speak with someone, Brett, I think was his name, I showed him what I wanted which was a print out from their website. He went to check the stock on it and then I heard him calling other Descenza stores trying to find it, yet he referred to me as a "kid"...I found that impolite, I'm 28 and about to spend thousands of dollars in your store... Anyway, Brett told me every other Descenza store had what I was looking for and I was on my way. I immediately drove to the Boston location and the level of service was night and day - Amanda in Boston was extremely helpful and nice and I got exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely not return to the Hingham location. read more
