I have thyroid cancer and was referred to Dr. O'Hare by my endocrinologist. I arrived at my first…read moreappointment 20 mintues early, as requested. I filled out paperwork and paid my copay.....and then sat in the waiting room for half an hour. My 1pm appointment time came and went, and no one told me anything, though during that hour I discovered that there were two other people, also waiting for a 1pm appointment with him. He TRIPLE-BOOKED the appointment time. Finally I'm taken into a back room, the nurse takes my blood pressure, and.....I wait some more. I arrived at 12:40pm for a 1:00pm appointment, and he didn't walk into the room until 1:45pm. He offered no apologies or information on why he was late. He spent ten minutes with me, half of which was spent paying more attention to his medical student than me, and the other half of which he spent standing up and edging towards the door. Because he came so highly recommended, I decided to give him another chance and scheduled my pre-op, operation, and post-op. I arrived today at my designated appointment time, with appointment card in hand, and was told that I was in their system for next week and would have to come back then. I told them no, my appointment is very clearly written as today, and in return they cancelled all of my other appointments, including my surgery, and told me to find another doctor. Dr. O'Hare then called my endocrinologist to say that this egregious mix-up was somehow my fault, despite the fact that I showed up when they told me to in writing, and that he refused to ever see me again. Dr. O'Hare isn't a doctor at all. He triple-books appointments, spends more time trying to get away from patients than to care for them, and blames the patient for his office's mistakes. Anyone who cancels surgery on a cancer patient because his office screwed up doesn't deserve to call themselves a medical professional, and shouldn't be allowed to operate on people.

Thorough, kind, knowledgable. He sent my biopsy for second opinions. He took really good care of…read moreme post surgery. He came and saw several times while I was hospitalized for one day. He, personally, called me and my PCP. I highly recommend Dr. Timothy O'Hare.

Health First (HF) does not have the same high standards of customer care that I get from Orlando…read moreHealth. There seems to be no accountability for poor/bad performance. Many HF doctors are long in the tooth (old) and not up to date on current procedures. For example one surgeon insisted that I needed a cervical fusion when all I needed was a nerve ablation. Another HF pain doctor took 2 weeks to get a prescription to my pharmacy and then had an employee lie to me. Another time , a nerve block was incorrectly done which put me into a stupor for three weeks. Last example, a HF cardiologist wrote cardiac clearances for two procedures that I needed and the anesthesiologists refused to accept them. I got a copy of the internal HF Customer complaint process and the theme is deflect, deflect, deflect. I spoke with customer care manager Tiffany and she demonstrated how to deflect. They DO NOT want formal complaints to be filed. They don't really care like I have experienced at Orlando Health. Based on HF employee behavior, I suspect that HF uses fear to motivate their employees. Many of the doctors and support staff are incompetent. I have many examples. I try to go to Orlando Health whenever possible, or even better, drive to Orlando. Please be wary of Anything HF and get second opinions outside of HF. On the positive side, the HF MRI facility in Rockledge was excellent and the lab at Gateway is very efficient. Competency and Accountability are the HF weaknesses from my perspective.

I like that he's hesitant to push surgery and offer alternatives but it can also be a bit unnerving when you finally get to the "let's do surgery" discussions since he wants to make sure you know that there's no 100% way to guarantee that the surgery will fix your problem. I went to him for tinnitus and ended up discussing my nasal breathing with him. We ended up looking at everything thoroughly and, through testing, I came away with the knowledge that I did not have allergies (seasonal or otherwise) despite another doctor who had been administering claratin/allegra/etc. to me for years. This allowed us to look at everything and we finally discovered, and operated on, my deviated surgery. The surgery went fine and I can breathe much, much better now and we had no complications! The tinnitus was tested as well but we weren't able to do treatment for that. I'd definitely recommend him based on my personal experience.
