Both messages were never returned. He set up a virtual appointment, paid the co-pay earlier in the day and the office never called. I had two appointments. The first one was just a doctor's appointment at 9:00 am and he was 30 minutes late. My second was for my colonoscopy and they were running over an hour behind but they don't say anything to you nor apologize for the inconvenience. The only reason we knew is that we heard the receptionist speaking to someone on the phone. There's an aloofness about this business that is unwarranted. We finally switched to Wilmington Health Gastro and have received incredible service.

My son was admitted to the ER having overdosed on heroin while using my car. Thank God the…read moreever-vigilant local police found him, narced him, and he was taken to Novant Hosp. on 17th St. While there, he arrested (his heart stopped) twice, and thankfully responded to the defib. But he was clinically dead I believe. They treated him with whatever meds were necessary but instead of keeping him overnight for observation, they discharged him. He's homeless and was living in my car which had been impounded because of the DUI - and no one from the hospital contacted me. His ex-gf had to pick him up around 10:30 at night and he was barely able to stay conscious. I am eternally grateful they saved his life - don't get me wrong. But to discharge someone who's barely conscious, having just overdosed and suffered two cardiac episodes, drugged to the point of not even knowing where he was and at that hour of the night, with no notice to next of kin? Deplorable. On a less serious subject, I went to the same ER myself having accidently stabbed myself in the hand with a fork I had been using to tenderize a steak. Knowing I had not had a tetanus shot in 32 years and with a sudden pain and swelling in my jaw, I foolishly thought I might have contracted tetanus (a little knowledge is dangerous). The medical assistant who saw me diagnosed me with a swollen lymph gland - no tests and discharged with no prescription, though I DID get a tetanus booster. The swelling and pain got worse throughout the day and I went to one of those walk-in medical clinics. The doctor who saw me and to whom I described my less obvious symptoms, diagnosed me with Sialadenitis which is a blocked or infected salivary gland. No biggie, but it is very painful and if left untreated, can possibly lead to more permanent issues. Though there was no formal treatment like antibiotics, he recommended hot packs and eating sour candies. Worked like a charm. Now I have it on the other side of my jaw, but at least I know how to treat it. And that I don't have tetanus.

The entire operation of the Center is of the highest professionalism. From the time I entered and was registered by the receptionist, Cassidy, to the time I left everyone I interacted with was a consummate professional. The nursing care under the direction of Leigh, Shannon, April, and Brigitte was outstanding, as was the care I received in the recovery room from Thania. Dr. Naren Nallapeta, who performed the procedure, was first rate. Each of the health care professionals possessed a fine bedside manner and were highly competent. The Strand GI Endoscopy Center is a first rate organization, we are fortunate to have such a resource in our community. I worked with Shannon to get the appointment set, as well as getting my ER records sent over. Upon arrival, I was checked in with ease. As I was filling out paperwork, I was called back. QUICK! I met with Connie, who was welcoming and checked vitals, went over medical history, etc. I met with Dee Cottrell-PA a few minutes later. Again, all very quick! She was warm, kind, and had a great bedside manner. She was thorough and walked through what I had going on, without seeming to be in a hurry, or rushing me. She was detailed and even used diagrams to show me what was going on in my stomach. We have a game plan, and I am thrilled to have this practice on my team to get my gut well! It should also be said that the office is gorgeous. It was a nice waiting area, very clean, and aesthetically pleasing inside and on the outside.

I have also called several times a week asking about a referral for an X-ray that needs to be completed elsewhere, and no one has followed up with me. To make matters worse, this office is actively asking people to leave Google reviews while failing to handle basic patient needs. Asking for public praise while neglecting patient care feels dishonest and incredibly tone-deaf. I did not want to believe the reviews, but they are absolutely true. This office has been unresponsive, dismissive, and incredibly frustrating to deal with. Please avoid going here and save yourself the hassle.

Procedures are done at the scheduled time and the pre-procedure intake is smooth beginning with sign in and very efficient in preparing for the procedure itself. All protocols designed to assure patient safety were clearly explained in easy-to-understand terms. The procedure team was professional and caring. Post-procedure needs were effectively managed and discharge/follow up instructions were clear. Preliminary results were available to take home and also immediately posted to the patient portal. All staff were friendly, compassionate, and professional in their demeanor throughout the whole process. This what they do, and they are good at it. The 7900 N. Kings Hwy. facility functions as a well-oiled machine. Or perhaps well-lubed.
